Could it be that your old account number was reissued to a new card holder?

My reaction to most catastrophes:

Shut it down! Shut it all down!

Freeze your Credit if necessary and keep holding the bank’s feet to the fire!

They should have blocked the number by now so it is invalid.
They should close your current account number if the charges are coming through
there.
I am calling my 2 card companies now to make sure I have no suspicious charges.

These people may be evil, but they’re not stupid!
Evil is stupid at the bottom line.
Can you ask the bank for enhanced security? Like for any online transaction you have to enter a unique code to confirm the transaction. They send it through sms. It is annoying yet safe.

No, this is very much a fraud. All the charges are odd numbers around $800 to various nonprofit groups (which I doubt any are actually getting the money). The transactions are in March-early April timeframe. The post dates are all this week. Nearly $5k in total so far. But the bank is reimbursing me right away.

I view my accounts daily online, and I get a message for each expense over $100. I’ve stopped using this card until this is straightened out. It has been our most used card. We like the points for free cruises. 🛳️

I am sure they can transfer points to a new card considering the circumstances.

What did you do with the old cards? Where are they now?

If you threw away your card in one piece then it can still be used. If you left it for the bank to dispose of then they have a person in the Bank using these cards.

How secure is your online banking. Do you have a robust internet security? If you use your phone to do banking, is it secure?

The old cards were shredded as I do with all my old cards. We have good security on our WiFi and I use a VPN if I’m on a different WiFi.
I’m pretty certain this is from either the Target or the Home Depot hacks a few years ago.

US banks reimburse customers for fraud loss. The maximum a customer is responsible for is $50, but most banks waive that.

No, the bank reversed the charge as soon as I call them. Had two more today totaling over $1600. They say this has been elevated pretty high up. Some people are getting hit with around $1500 per fraudulent charge, with the lowest being $500 per charge.

In this post, you said the bank is reimbursing
you right away. Why would they need to reimburse you? They should not expect you to pay fraudulent charges.

Just semantics. Specifically, they credit my account for the amount of the fraud charges.

I will be praying they quickly resolve the issue
so you don’t have anymore problems.
