As I said before, the experts disagree with you, and I choose to believe the experts.

I’ve worked with hundreds of homosexual men, and not one wanted a sexual encounter with a woman. If they do, they are bisexual, not homosexual…

Do you not understand the prefixes? Bisexual does NOT mean homosexual. Bi- is a prefix meaning “two.” The men like both sexes. Homo- is a prefix meaning “same.” These men and women want sexual encounters with the same sex. A homosexual man ONLY desires males.

Please stop spreading misinformation.

There is no such thing as “bisexual”
I think everyone on this board but you knows there is then.

“I have seen in my practice very, very, very many men who are bisexual,” Weitzman tells WebMD. “Really, there are so many bisexual men out there. There are so many men who say — and demonstrate — that they love men and love women and are happy with it.”

So you don’t really care about the problem in the church? Is that what we’re to make of vulgar jokes about the pain of hundreds of minors?

Just asking to be clear.

Experts said what I posted; I just agreed with them. I will take the word of educated experts over yours any day, no offense.
I will take loyal bishops & humanae vitae over your “so called” experts. God gave me a calling as husband & father. True fatherhood is the solution to problems in the priesthood. Gay priests have neither a sense of the unitive or procreative gifts of fatherhood so no wonder they would become such a problem as priests. If you start with something disordered, the chance for failure should be expected.

I’m not “anti gay” but I think gay people should refrain from joining the seminary regardless whether they “feel called” or not.

Paid for by the gay lobby. Experts my big hairy behind.

If having any sexual attraction to men means that a man is gay, then that means that almost half of all men are gay. Alfred Kinsey interviewed thousands of men and reported in Sexual Behavior in the Human Male which was published in 1948 that 46% of the male subjects had “reacted” sexually to persons of both sexes in the course of their adult lives, and 37% had at least one homosexual experience.

Okay, I accept that, I accept your word, and thank you for answering my question. A little levity now and then doesn’t take away from a serious problem, but what he posted was vulgar and crude, and you called it “a good one.” That seemed to negate taking this seriously, but I believe your post above. I believe you do care and do take iy seriously.

No, just because someone has a degree doesn’t make him or her an expert. I know that firsthand. I studied Catholic theology for six years, with no break, and I’m not an expert. However, when a LOT of genuine experts agree, they do have to be taken seriously and not just dismissed because they say something one does not like. If one doctor told me I needed a leg amputated, I’d get a second or third or fourth opinion unless it was an emergency. But if all the doctors agreed, I’d take them seriously. They shouldn’t be “just dismissed” because one (anyone) wants things another way.

I’m a strictly heterosexual woman, who has never desired a lesbian experience, and even I’ve found some women very attractive. I didn’t desire them, but just the other day I saw a woman on TV and thought, “Wow! She has the best legs I’ve ever seen! Wish I had legs like that!”

Well, homosexuality isn’t a mental disorder. It’s not an indication of an abuser or a potential abuser. I’m all for giving seminarians rigorous psychological testing at various points, but to ban all homosexuals would be to reduce the priesthood significantly, and there’s already a shortage of priests. (I realize it was another poster who thinks homosexuals should be banned, not you.)

But they can do MRIs to see how parts of the brain are developed.

You can scream it’s a sickness but that’s not helpful to those who are pedophiles and it doesn’t keep children safe.

After Patty Wtterling’s son disappeared in 1989 she was active in making a sex offender database a reality hoping it would help keep kids safe. She doesn’t believe registries have done what she hoped they would do and in the almost 30 years since her son went missing has be talking to experts in the field to prevent children from being preyed upon. She’s changed her focus and approach and she’s motivated to prevent what happened to her son from happening again. If the man who molested and killed her son could have had intervention in his own life her son wouldn’t have died nor would his killer molested other boys.

Not all pedophiles are child molesters and not all child molesters are pedophiles. Yes, people who hurt sexually abuse anyone, especially children are sick, but it isn’t helpful to a pedophile who has never hurt a child and doesn’t want to to call him or her sick. It isolates them, it prevents them from seeking help; that is what is dangerous.
