My soon to be patron saint (90% sure it will be). (Saint Konrad of Parzham). Well I heard that he wore one as well. Thats how I first found out. Sadly hes not a very “Well Known” saint. But then again, thats why I chose him.

@Dorothy:

Yes I know well about it. I read on Fish Eaters. 😃

@LilyM:

I know, but I want one separate. 🙂

I know lol. Christ has saved me from a lot. I thank Him for the blessings He has bestowed on me. I could never not be part of the Church founded by Our Lord the Incarnate Word.

Well to the OP I hope your enthusiasm isn’t bordering on superstition, I mean into thinking the scapular is a magic charm, because it isn’t.

As for taking it off, if anyone knows Carl Malburg, who about 5 years ago brought the Pilgrim Statue of Fatima to Ireland from the USA, then his advice to me was to shower with it, sleep with it, after all if I never got hung with the chain of my Miraculous Medal, then I’m unlikely to get hung with the Scapular, although the evil one would like you to think otherwise.

I know its not, you still have to do all the prayers, and such.

The Scapular and the Rosary are two of the most powerful Sacramentals we are priviledged to have. The Scapular and the Rosary are our Blessed Mother’s gifts to us. A Scapular is an outward sign of our consecration to Jesus through Mary. There’s nothing magical about the scapular, it is merely an expression of one’s devotion to God that already exists. The Scapular’s a blessing not only for those who wear it, but also for those who notice it peaking out of your shirt as it reminds them of our Holy Catholic Faith. Personally, I think it’s extremely bold to wear a Scapular, because it’s so different from anything non-Catholics wear. And you can put your favorite medals right on the Scapular, too. I like the Miraculous medal.

Someone once told me that the Scapular is like having a piece of Mary’s mantle over you. Our Lady told St. Simon Stock that the Scapular is to be made of wool.

Any priest can enroll you. I didn’t check out your link, Karma, but make sure that the first Scapular you buy comes with the prayers or else download them off the computer before you ask the priest to enroll you, especially if you don’t make an appointment for the enrollment or talk to the priest ahead of time a. After you’re enrolled, there’s no further need to have your subsequent Scapulars blessed, as the blessing is passed on from one worn out Scapular to your next new one. The whole enrolment only takes a few minutes. I asked the priest enroll me right after Confession. Easy. Done.

Lol, I don’t shower with mine on. So hopefully I won’t die in the shower. I don’t swim with it on either. I’m afraid it would get a little too funky…But I do sleep with it on.

Just got it today, and read a 48 page booklet about it. Sounds amazing.
