OCD is attacking me for years. The worst form I have ever had was scrupulosity. It just made me believe that I might be the antichrist. My whole summer was destroyed because of that. Before september, I began having a doubt like “What if I actually am the antichrist and satan gave me some ‘powers’?”. Just tried to think about that and soon realized that when thinking about the fact that I could be the antichrist I am better at some things than ever before.

For example, at the chemistry class, our teacher asked us for a solution to a problem she had given to us. It was pretty hard and I was thinking “what if I’m going to ‘activate’ my powers and solve the problem?”. And because I just wanted to check, well, felt a little bad, but I solved that problem. Not that I couldn’t do it without them, but it was quite hard.

Now I’m just scared that satan actually gave me some powers or something and that’s why I am succeeding so fast at some things. (I did succeed in the past too, but now it gets faster)

Is this something that has to do with my faith or just a terrible source of “motivation” and suggestion? What can I do? How do I know that my talents and intelligence and my ability to solve those problems come from God? How can I find another source of “motivation”, if that’s all in my head?

Help, please.

Are you getting professional help for the OCD?

Perhaps your pastor can recommend a good therapist, if not. Spiritual direction would likely also be helpful (in addition). But you really should be getting help for this; these doubts and fears are, as you’ve seemingly realized, irrational and need to be dealt with.

Can you recite prayers (e.g., Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be) or kneel before the Blessed Sacrament without bodily contortions? If you can, then you’re probably not the antichrist.

God created us with rational brain. It’s only natural for intellectual growth to lead to better problem solving.

but satan is an expert at doubts and suspicions. at every moment of doubt, pray a short prayer (something as quick as “Jesus I trust in You” or a Hail Mary, etc).

and as others have said, it would be good to speak to a priest

OCD and scrupulosity are mental health issues.

You need a therapist. If you are a minor talk to your parents and get help. You also need regular spiritual direction from a priest who is able to work with people who suffer from these conditions.

This!

OCD is awful at times b/c I don’t think it ever goes away but you can put it into a remission of sorts with counseling and meds if needed.

Don’t continue to suffer in silence, go see your school councilors if you feel you can’t talk to your parents. There is real help out there for you!

Please, just stop telling me that I should go to a therapist. I will. But till then, I need some help. I want someone to assure me that those things are from God. That’s why I have posted the topic.

And the thing with the “powers”?
I began doing things I didn’t know I can do.
I began having great ideas for projects, algorithms, etc.

This is not a pride issue. It is OCD. To the OP: you arent going to quiet your uncertainty asking on a message board. These are obsessive, intrusive thoughts. Ignore them as best you can.

This tells me you have a brilliant imagination and a very high IQ; gifts from God. You have a natural aptitude for academic disciplines which are unfamiliar to you. Again, gifts from God. But you’ve also been handed a challenge in the form of a common mental illness to keep you humble. Praise be to God.

OCD is closely related to Panic and Anxiety Disorder, and Depression. I have suffered with these for years, including some OCD symptoms. There are some very good books available to help, just search on Amazon. Medication may also be needed. But I would urge you to start trying to dismiss your fears. They only make things worse. Blessings to you. 🙂

Judas was anti-Christ, you don’t want to imitate HIM
do you? If you are a baptized believer, the Holy Spirit
is in you and so is the Love of Christ. You have been
caught in “the snare of the devil” 2 Tim 2:26, ASK
the Lord to grant you contrition for the “spirit of rebellion”
Eph. 2:2 read the Bible and fill your mind w/ God’s
Truth and Lighten the darkness of your heart, my friend
in Christ!!

This is NOT a Catholic writer/teacher. This is new age gobbledygook

@scope Short answer: If you’re worried about being the AntiChrist, then you’re not the AntiChrist. The AntiChrist isn’t going to wake up one day and be surprised by his hatred of God and of the Church. Really, do not worry about this. Satan is not going to be giving the AntiChrist powers to solve some chemistry problems. He will be busy gaining control of the world and persecuting the Church. If you are not actively perverting God’s Word and blaspheming His Church, then you are not acting in the spirit of antichrist.

You are probably a bright kid with a lot of talents, but you also have a mental illness that will need therapy. Your illness could turn into a blessing one day if it keeps you dependent on God’s mercy and close to His Church. Just don’t let these obsessive, intrusive thoughts take over your life.

Replace the anxious thoughts with Scripture and prayers. Meditate and ruminate on Scripture and Holy Prayers instead of worrying. Replace each worried thought with a TRUTH from the Bible. I pray you find peace and get help. And don’t obsess over Satan…God is in control. 🙏

That’s not OCD.

That’s psychotic thinking, as in a form of psychosis which could be indicatative of schizophrenia.

If you’re having invasive thoughts that you’re the anti Christ, run, don’t walk to a psychiatrist.

That’s not OCD - it’s something more serious.
