So, there’s no way Satan could actually give me some powers just to opress me and to take me away from God?

It is highly unlikely, especially if you have never invited him into your life or participated in occult activities. I do STRONGLY recommend that you make an appointment to talk to your priest about your thoughts and fears on this. Explain to him everything that’s going on and he can make a judgement call. That is a much wiser way of getting help than trying to diagnose this with strangers on the internet. Also, and I’m sure the priest would also recommend this, please see a psychiatrist also to rule out any mental disorders, because these thoughts are hurting you and are not normal. God bless you!

Well, I have always tried avoiding him. Everytime I had scrupulous thoughts, I prayed to God. I never took part in occult activities. I didn’t actually invite him. I hope so. Anyways, if it is something more than just some thoughts, what can I do? Do i need an exorcism? Can I become possessed? Just, tell me. I became extremely depressed.

No, actually OCD thinking can be a lot like that. Trust me. I have OCD.

Most of OCD is the stuff you don’t see, that people don’t talk about. Why are they flicking the light switch on and off 3 times before entering any room? Because they are constantly bombarded by thoughts that they may cause their child to develop cancer unless they do specific cleansing rituals. The difference is OCD people know it is irrational, but are too afraid of the consequences of not acting and don’t often speak about it openly—unlike a Schizophrenic, who doesn’t realize how irrational their thoughts are

I would consider those things as consequences of a psychotic thinking. But how could I become so good at so many things? Before that, I have focused my mind only at things we had to learn for that day (and was good at them) but now I just begin doing more, more complicated things. I don’t want you to think that this is just pride or something. I don’t have time for that now. I actually don’t know for sure when all started and what was before it, but I am staying in a constant doubt and torment.

If you were truly evil, why would you worry about it? You would want to do evil.

This is OCD. Stop trying to argue with it, and act like it is some crazy guy telling you that the Queen of England is a sea turtle that just looks like a person.

Having these nagging doubts are part of OCD. The only way to survive it is to just ignore it. I know what you are going through, but nothing anyone on the internet can tell you will stop the intrusive fears. So, even if you are evil, tell God you will be faithful to Him no matter what. No matter how evil you are, tell God you love Him.

You will be in constant doubt and torment until you learn to just let these thoughts pass. I know this isn’t pride. I have OCD myself. I have gone through some serious mental agony.

Guess what? You aren’t evil. You are just a guy with OCD.

Forum,

Please do not reply to this thread if you do not have experience with OCD. I know no one intends to upset OP, but suggesting that he must “run to a psychiatrist” is incredibly wrong.

OP, you are dealing with Pure-O, a form of OCD. I also suffer from this. Please contact a mental health professional who can help you. I know from experience that spending times on forums asking questions is very dangerous. Few people understand OCD, much less Pure-O.

You are not cursed. You have a mental disorder, and many people out there can help you. Please be assured of a prayer from me.

Anyways, if it is something more than just some thoughts, what can I do? Do i need an exorcism? Can I become possessed? Just, tell me. I became extremely depressed.
Again, you need to see a priest and let him help you. If you think you could possibly be possessed (which I am nearly 100% sure you are not), you need to tell him and let the expert decide if you need an exorcism. Listen to @Canvas, he is giving you good advice. Just don’t try to conquer these thoughts by yourself. Get professional help. You are depressed and can’t do this alone. It doesn’t make you look weak to get some help.

Ok. Going to make an appointment to a priest as soon as possible.
I’m just asking myself right now if God thinks that I actually want to lose those things, even if they are from Him. I just want to be sure those are from Him. Can’t I just do it somehow? Asked Him several times to take them from me if they come from evil sources, and nothing happened. Does this mean something? Or should I do more than that?

No. Do no more. Stop. I tell you this as someone who has been in the dark place you are in. I want you to stop torturing yourself. Say a prayer of thanks for God’s mercy and be at peace.

The chances of you being the anti-Christ are very, very low. So relax. You’ll be just fine. 😎

My OCD used to make me think I was going give birth to it. I’m not even a mom! A movie I watched triggered it, and it lasted for a long time. Let me say two things to you
  1. You can’t beat OCD without professional help. It’s a mental disorder caused by a misfiring in the brain ( more specifically your amygdala). You cannot convince or pray your amygdala into doing its job. You need a therapist, and if it’s bad enough, meds.
  2. A priest who understands OCD can help with the spiritual effects of the illness, but for the most part, I would refrain from asking questions about your OCD to religious friends or peers who do not have the illness or don’t understand it. Bad advice can send you in a downward spiral you won’t be able to stop.
I’ve had OCD for 12 years and have had almost all 13 of the common obsessions. Trust me 🙂

This!! Please! I have Pure-O too! Telling her to relax won’t help, and resssuring her is only a compulsion that will make her obsessions worse. She is not possessed and feeding her fear is only telling the malfunction in the brain to keep sending the faulty danger signal. OCD is extremely painful, and even dangerous. It can turn debilitating and even life threatening is people are not careful. She needs a professional who specializes in OCD and a priest who knows about the condition nothing else.

To the OP: what you are doing right now is called reassurance seeking. It is part of our condition and is actually a compulsion that comes along with it. The only way to beat OCD is to not engage in the compulsions. I will not reassure you. You know the obsession makes no sense, now try your best to avoid compulsions such as seeking answers on your own. If you do it, you’ll just get more sick because you feed the disorder. You need a priest, but try to find one who knows about OCD. The wrong advice can really hurt your condition. You also need to get help from someone who specializes in OCD, especially if it’s Pure-O. Some therapists don’t know how to treat it.

This is OCD. It is so clearly OCD. For those who have the disorder, it couldn’t be clearer than light that this is OCD. Please don’t post things like these on questions about OCD. I know you mean well, but you have no idea how damaging comments like these are. It can send the OP into a crisis.

I think your OCD has psychotic symptoms.

What It’s Like (From WebMD)

You can’t tell the difference between what’s real
and what’s not. Also, your speech might be unclear
and your behavior disorganized.

You may have depression, anxiety, and sleep problems,
too. It could be a struggle just to get through your day.

These symptoms don’t make you a bad person. They
can be brief. But I would suggest you talk to your
primary care doctor and follow his/her advice.

God bless you.

Prayer of St. Dymphna

Lord, our God, You graciously chose St. Dymphna as
patroness of those afflicted with mental, emotional, and
nervous disorders. She is thus an inspiration and a symbol
of charity to the thousands who ask her intercession.

Please grant, Lord, through the prayers of this pure,
youthful martyr, relief and consolation to all suffering
such trials –– especially those for whom we pray.

We beg You, Lord, to hear the prayers of St. Dymphna
on our behalf. Grant all those for whom we pray patience
in their sufferings and resignation to Your divine will.
Please fill them with hope, and grant them the relief and
cure they so desire. We ask this through Christ our Lord,
who suffered agony in the garden. Amen.

Hi Scope,

I’d say a few things:
  1. (I know you don’t want to hear this) Try to go about getting some help.
  2. Find a Priest who has dealt with OCD, or at the very least is familiar with scrupulosity. www.MassTimes.org is a great resource for finding Churches near you. Find some Churches, go to their websites, and start contacting some Priests. In most cases, you can email them. They will be able to help you more than we can.
  3. Whenever you achieve something great and start to wonder why, thank God for helping you. Even if you doubt where it came from, even if you fear it really wasn’t from God, thank God anyway. All of your talents are from Him.
  4. Evil doesn’t worry about being evil. It just is. The fact that you are even worried proves you’re not.
  5. It can be a difficult thing to admit/accept/realize, but this is a mental problem that has attached itself to your spirituality. I repeat: this is a mental problem. Roughly 1 in 5 Americans suffer from some kind of mental illness each year. It can be very painful and scary, but it’s also very common. You’re definitely not alone in your struggles, Scope. Acknowledge this, and start taking steps to beat it.
  6. Purchase a copy of St. Faustina’s Diary if you can. If not, at the very least read some of the excerpts from this site: http://www.thedivinemercy.org/news/Saint-Faustina-and-the-Sacred-Heart-5872 . No matter how awful you think you are, God’s mercy is greater than your sins. Internalize that, never forget it.
  7. Pray!

Can this be something like an auto-suggestion? That’s why I have succeeded so fast at some things?

Hi Scope.

Something you might be interested in:

Your problems are not spiritual, they are mental. And of course, one of the problems with high intelligence is that we tend to think only WE know the answers, and we distrust the advice and opinions of others, even though we also desperately seek their advice and opinions. “How could they be right? I’m certain I am this. I’m certain I did that. Maybe I didn’t explain myself clearly enough? They’re saying I am not this. They are saying I didn’t do that. They don’t really understand. If only they knew the real me…” These thoughts are your enemy, and you have to do your best to put them aside as quickly as you can.

That’s why it’s important for you to not try to handle this on your own. Talk to your parents and explain what’s going on. Get professional help if you can, someone who can show you how to get out of these mindsets. And talk with a Priest, one priest, and obey him. If he tells you something, listen. Don’t question, don’t Google, don’t go on forums asking if he’s wrong, don’t go to a bunch of Priests trying to get an answer to calm your OCD. One Priest, and listen to him.

I’d suggest you read Peter Kreeft’s book “Angels and Demons” you can get it used for a few dollars Amazon.com
