Again, this really is not advisable for someone who is curruently in an OCD loop. This would be a massive trigger.

While exposing yourself to triggers in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy has proven beneficial for some, this is something that must be done in therapy, with a therapist.

I know you’re only trying to help, but this will hurt OP in his/her current state. Not that the book is wrong, or bad, but just not for someone like OP at the given time.

It is against forum policy to offer medical advice to posters - and that includes each and every one of you presuming either to know what condition the OP has or what particular things will be helpful/harmful to him or her. And for very good reasons.

No responsible professional would dare to diagnose or prescribe treatment for someone without far more history - and usually face-to-face consultation time - than has been the case here. Please bear in mind you are only going by what the OP has posted here. Which means critical details might have been left out.

And however much their description may appear to match something from which you suffer, illnesses which present in the same.way are not always identical or necessarily treated identically.

OP, the best advice really is simply to consult a professional.

every one of you presuming either to know what condition the OP has
Scope says in the very first two sentences “OCD is attacking me for years. The worst form I have ever had was scrupulosity.”

He/she also says he/she hasn’t been seeking treatment for it, which indicates OP possibly hasn’t seen a professional at all and possibly has self-diagnosed.

Assuming OP has been prodessionally diagnosed with OCD, they still may have other conditions as well as the OCD, which possibly impact on treatment.

Scope,
I’m one of these “big picture people”. Seeing anything wrong as an impediment to a relationship to God.
But going to therapy, spiritual direction, and taking meds, are small cures to the “big picture”. Even if the therapy turns out to be more secular than i thought, i can only take from it what’s Catholic/Christian.

While there is a chance Scope is wrong, there’s also a chance Scope is right. If Scope is right, and this is OCD and scrupulosity, there is a lot that can be said to help Scope deal with this that falls outside the purview of “medical advice.” For instance, knowing the facts about OCD, and knowing what the Church teaches about scrupulosity, as well as basic doctrines regarding the Faith.

My personal opinion, as someone who has gone through something like this, a forum that coldly and collectively states something such as “this is not the place for it, seek help” as if they were reading off of a Terms of Service agreement is much more damaging and hurtful than a forum that helps show those suffering why they are mistaken in their fears, that they aren’t the only ones who have gone through such things, and that it’s critical to talk with authorities within health and the Church.
