Scariest and Most Depressing thing I have read

Thank you for your gracious compliment and for your service in teaching children about God.

That is important work.

I also agree with your perspective about the right way to teach people about religion. Those that are obsessed with other people’s faults often just drive people away from religion.

That was the mistake of the Pharisees.

Interestingly, when I hear from people that are making a real effort in service to the unfortunate, and who are in the real world teaching people about Jesus, I don’t hear from those people this sort of judgmental tone.

From my limited perspective, the people who successfully overcome vice in their lives, do it because they have found something better, not because someone scared them.

How else can you account for the actions of Saints like St. Joan of Arc or St. Agnes whose faith could not be shaken by the full military might of the empires of their day.?

How else can you account for saints such as St. Francis who walked away from family wealth to serve the unfortunate?

There is no other reasonable explanation. These people found something incredible, that no lure of worldly pleasure, honor, $, power, or fear could shake.

That is what we should each be seeking.
What a beautiful and uplifting post.
We certainly should be more edifying to each other.
Thanks and God bless you.

I have posters sometimes insinuating that I’m not Catholic.
I know we don’t understand each other well at times, so I’m very grateful when I am understood.
I do keep wondering where the problem lies??

Not at all Fran!

It is just that some of the statements you put in your posts at times lack Catholicity. 😉
I didn’t mean you.
They may lack Catholicity, which is an interesting concept…
However, they’re full of Jesusicity!

There is no separation between the two, Fran. Jesus founded the Catholic Church, and He is her Head. That which is authentic Catholicity emanates from Him. 😃

Are you a boy or a girl?
Do you know some kind of martial arts?

The O.P. read something that scared her/him re going to hell since salvation seems so difficult.

Do M.A. help you in your faith?
