Scariest movie you ever saw?

I have never seen this movie, what is the reason why its been the scariest movie that you have ever seen?
 
Probably the original version of THE HAUNTING, or THE INNOCENTS. THE CHANGELING was pretty creepy, too. I tend to find subtle, understated horror more scary than the SAW type of thing.

I found the overall tone of THE EXORCIST quite spooky, especially the prologue in Iraq, and the clinical scenes.
 
Donsnow, I watched the movie Alien last night and it did not catch my attention.

I have watched like 2 mins of the Exorcist, and from what I saw and hearing what happen while it was filmed and after with the actors, that has to be the scariest ever.
 
I’ll go for pretty conventional choices, first time I ever saw “Night of the living dead”, it has really stuck with me. I’d probably leave it at that, some movies are very effective and not absolutely terrifying.

The non-horror movie “Deliverance” is actually pretty terrifying as well.
 
i just saw “lake mungo” .its a movie documentary.very thought provoking and scary,as it was live and real.did watch "the conjuring"as well in separate occassions.initially i didnt finish watching it,as it was freaky.then,after two months,i decided to finish it,wasnt that scary afterall.nobody here mentioned “the omen” .i thought it was scary ,as well.
 
Hmmm… Scariest out of an objective perspective i’d say “The others” or “Paranormal Activity 2”. Even though I wasn’t really affected by them I know that they were probably the scariest I’ve seen so far.

But the one movie that got to me was “Pandorum”. Its not so scary cinematicly, but if you’re really in the zone, putting yourself in the characters shoes. Oh its damn near traumatic. The scenes right before the ending sent me into a full-on panic attack… Space is scary. :eek:

edit: oh btw, thank you above posters for reminding me of Event Horizon, haven’t seen it in ages, love that movie 😃

It’s pretty dated now, but I think if you saw it 35 years ago, in a dark movie theater, it probably would have been more intense. I can imagine being terrified of it back then. Especially since it was apparently pretty groundbreaking stuff when it first came out.

I can see why you might not have gotten into it, since it is pretty slow in the beginning. I really like the feel of the film though. It’s heavy, like they’re really trapped in space with a murderous creature. Not a lot of movies make me feel like I’m actually in the characters world, but that one did for whatever reason.

That scene with Dallas in the air ducts…man talk about tense. I’m really claustrophobic so that scene always freaks me out. Also Lambert’s death. Horribly, horribly creepy to me.
 
A Japanese horror movie my two cousins made me watch…something about zombies and undead overrunning an entire city in Japan, lol, lots of gore and violence, (no sex though). :eek: Don’t think it’s been released in the US, but I’ll post the title if I can find it.

Edit: Oh, and the Sleepaway Camp trilogy, about that serial killer girl Angela, they were pretty creepy for '80s horror movies, the ending for the first was NOT at all what I expected.
