I highlighted and underlined a “catch” here:Maybe we are focusing on the wrong thing here.
Suppose the courts/legislature required the Church to hire female priests.
Suppose the bishops knuckled under to this law.
Let them hire and ordain all the female priests they want to, we as laity are free to attend whichever parish we want at whatever Mass time we choose. Let these women play dress up and pretend Mass. But we will only attend Mass and receive Sacraments offered by orthodox, legitimately ordained male priests.
The catch is that the government cannot ordain anyone and I really don’t think they ever will.
If, however, there are bishops out there that will ordain women, I have to say that Rome will most swiftly step in to take care of that. They already have, somewhere in NY, I think, just a few years ago when a number of women were “ordained.” They were excommunicated along with that bishop, I think.
That parish may not have a priest for Mass and sacraments but like someone else said, you don’t get any spiritual benefits from an invalid Mass - so…Carpooling is the answer!!! Shotgun!!!
