**The original post began with:No one here is talking about BANNING books from the public library or from the world–nor about burning books or whatever. We’re talking about CATHOLIC schools, which do have a certain obligation to both the children and parents to protect children, removing books that they deem not good for children. Personally, I don’t like Harry Potter and don’t think it’s that great of a book or series. Is it evil? Probably not but neither is it Holy and good…it’s a book, and one we won’t spend time reading. The Parents and Authorities of a Catholic School have the right and responsibility to not have any book they deem inappropriate on their shelves…

Scholastic Books Ban?
Catholic friends,
Should we protest and ban Scholastic Books? I am coming to the conclusion that we should for a few reasons, for example:
- Scholastic is NOT Catholic
- Scholastic co-produced The Golden Compass
- Scholastic promotes Harry Potter books
- Scholastic teaches masturbation is okay **
