The notion of trying to pit science against religion is not only empty, it’s . . . um . . . , quite frankly -
We’ve been subjected to some exceptionally unconvincing “arguments” on this thread . One is left to ponder whether those posters actually had any point to prove .
A Christian, were they to (ahem)
“discover” that there was no God (even though Dr. Albert Einstein believed there is , and even though St. Thomas Aquinas says it can be proven
) could no more tell you what they would do then - in that impossible scenario, than they could in a real scenario ; the present is neither the past nor the future and speculation on unpredictable human behaviour is unreliable. Furthermore, God cannot cease to exist. The only thing less realistic than a purported “Christian” trying to tell you how they would act if they were to (impossibly) “discover” there was no God , is someone else reading/hearing it, believing it and then repeating it .
Whether it is a headache or not :To refuse to provide the requested link to the purported comments (not that I don’t believe someone wouldn’t have posted it - particularly after reading some of the -]grandiloquent offal /-]er, unsubstantiated statements posted here ) after repeating those purported comments on this thread and instead replying **believe it or don’t **to the request, is also quite possibly another very strong argument for the existence of extremists , and is at least, quintessentially more than a little unscientific :
- Person makes claim.
- Person refuses to substantiate validity of claim upon request.
:tsktsk: What an unscientific “argument” being made in the name of “science”.
Wake up and smell the coffee - would you please ? We have people in politics who profess to be “Catholic” and are publicly saying abortion is something morally good. Gee . . . I wonder how they would react if they were to (impossibly) “discover” God didn’t exist .
The premise is fatally flawed , unless of course. . .

. . . it was intended as an insidious provocation ; in which case we might recognize the cleverness without approving of it.
I actually thought exoflare’s extractions made it plainer to see:
atheistgirl:
to conduct a conversation with out getting personal, or abusive, or insulting, or having to listen to some gloat, that one can safely put those St. Paul refers to as resounding gongs and clanging cymbols on ignore, and just talk with the adults
atheistgirl:
if they didn’t believe in their Deity, they would murder, rape and pillage all the day long Their faith is the only thing stopping the
atheistgirl:
<< Most of the Christians say that if God did not exists they would murder, rape and pillage all day long.>>
That’s what I just said, and it’s been said by Christians and Catholic here.
. . . utterly astonishing.
And from an analytical perspective, utterly inflammatory, in ,my limited opinion.
Interesting too how the reply to the question:
“So you are saying that murdering, raping and pillaging could be good things too, just not in your societal schemes.”
Nope.
In that case, I might think the sacking of Beziers by the holy cruisaders, on a mission from their God, and the 20,000 deaths that followed, of men, women and children, might be a good thing.

Perhaps just a little bit facetious ?
