Here are but a few:

Insects with four feet?
“Yet these may ye eat of every flying creeping thing that goeth upon all four, which have legs above their feet, to leap withal upon the earth; Even these of them ye may eat; the locust after his kind, and the bald locust after his kind, and the beetle after his kind, and the grasshopper after his kind. But all other flying creeping things, which have four feet, shall be an abomination unto you.”
Leviticus 11:21-23

Bats identified as “birds”?
“And these are they which ye shall have in abomination among the fowls; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray, and the vulture, and the kite after his kind; Every raven after his kind; and the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind, and the little owl, and the cormorant, and the great owl, and the swan, and the pelican, and the gier eagle, and the stork, the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat.”

Rabbits claimed to chew their cud?

“And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.”

The Bible is not a scientific text. Those passages don’t mean a whole lot regarding science for that reason.

The first, four feet and a pair jointed legs for jumping, that is what it says and that works for grasshopper and what not.

So what we still have animals that can’t easily be classified even with our science today. A bat so what if it called a bird? If I wasn’t taught any different I would think it was too.

Just search “chews cud” you get an assortment of things that say what this could mean and that rabbits do do something different.

What is the point of this thread, to discredit the Bible? That won’t work as science and understanding were far more behind what we know now, they just use what they knew and saw to compare things too.

Bukhari:V4B55N546 “Allah’s Apostle said, ‘Gabriel has just now told me of the answer. If a man has sexual intercourse with his wife and gets discharge first, the child will resemble him, and if the woman gets discharge first, the child will resemble her.’”

Qur’an 18:83 “They ask you about Dhu’l-Qarnain [Alexander the Great]. Say, ‘I will cite something of his story. We gave him authority in the land and means of accomplishing his goals. So he followed a path until he reached the setting place of the sun. He saw that it set in black, muddy, hot water. Near it he found people.”

Bukhari:V1B10N510 “Allah’s Apostle said, ‘If it is very hot, the severity of the heat is from the raging of the Hell Fire.’”

The Koran is just a wonder of science isn’t it?

Sura 29:46, “And dispute ye not with the people of the book but say: We believe in the revelation which has come down to us and that which came down to you.”

Are you even allowed to question?

According to Muslims, isn’t the Quran the Word of God? Muhammed consummated his marriage to a 6 year old girl when she was 9 (his “marriage” to Aisha). Does this mean that according to your “Word of God”, sleeping with 9 year old girls is okay, or was that just a privelage for Muhammad because he was God’s “Apostle”?

God wouldn’t need to use our scientific clasifications, ecpecially since the people wouldn’t know what He would be talking about. God had to share with a man what He wanted to be written, in vision or talking to him threw bush of flames or what ever. God would have to say things that made sence and would be understood by the people.

Yea just imagine God explaining astro-physics, zoology, geography, astronomy, meteorology to Moses.

For one people usually lived to thirty if well off. Girls are of child baring age early, not nine, but early for the reason that tey used to live not as long. Young girls getting married was nothing different or specific to Muhammed, but also to Christian kings and people. It was a temporal and cultural thing of the time period. It wasn’t perverse like today when people live to eighties and marry in late twenties. This thing is not something to attack, or what ever, it is just something out of necessity for survival of human kind and what not.

One example of obvious biblical contradiction.

God had, in the beginning, declared ALL that He had made as GOOD.
(Refer to Genesis.)

Then, shortly thereafter, He decides that certain of his creatures are abominations.
The eagle being one of those. Woa, the National Emblem of the USA and many other nations is an abomination? Thank goodness we don’t eat it, eh?

You know, maybe I can’t be a citizen of a country that exhalts an abomination as an emblem. Whoowee. :whacky:

I can not give equal credence to every line of scripture when it is obvious that there are definate contradictions. Based on this fact, I do not accept that the bible is to be taken literally. Too much of the earliest writings just do not adhere to what we KNOW of reality.

mohammad did not die in the thirties nor Aisha…Aisha died in 678.Khadija was in fourties when he married her and stayed like 15-20 years with her so she were like 60…i think pretty normal ages…
