I reread surah 81 and then I got to this verse 17,
Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger,

and this is where it lost me. So, throughout the koran we read that allah and mohammed can’t keep their word, and now you are to trust them?

And in verse one, from what our scientists say the sun just won’t ‘fold up’ but probably do what other suns have done and will burn up our solar system. On this one I trust our scientists over Allah. Allah hasn’t impressed me at all with his lying and not knowing so much about anything. Allah thought the sun revolved around the earth and the earth was flat so I don’t put much stock in him knowing about the other planets.

This is the American in me talking. Show me the Scientific miracles BEFORE the scientists state the information. DO not take the Science and fit it to the Qur’an. Show me where the Qur’an says blueberry jelly is the cure for cancer. Then, let me see it tested.

It is just like the Nostradamus stuff. Any vision can be made prophetic AFTER the fact. Warn me ahead of time or be silent about it.

I think they are just trying to catch up to the rest of the world and trying to prove that book is universal. The only ones that believe it are the ones that believe it is from a god.

It isn’t blueberry jelly that is a cure for cancer - I think it was camel’s ****. I prefer to buy into a blueberry jelly cure instead. If I am going to die I would prefer to eat something that tastes good from this life I will be leaving shortly rather than eating something that some a superstitious, sexual pervert who liked to see people die or enslaved thinks will cure me.

If we were to do the same thing in reverse, would Muslims give credibility to the Bible?
Statements Consistent With Meteorology

*]The Bible includes some principles of fluid dynamics.

Statements Consistent With Hydrology
*]The bible includes reasonably complete descriptions of the hydrologic cycle.[3]

etc.
Reasoning like Muslims and given all the language about fluid dynamics in those passages, we should be able to fine Bernoulli’s Princilple in there somewhere.

Muslim thinking is so full of logical fallacies, it is pathetic. And it smacks of fundamentalism. The case in point is non-sequiturs. The Qur’an could be the best science book in history, but does that make its so-called moral teachings true? No. There are literally thousands and thousands of books that are more scientifically explicit and more scientifically accurate than the Qur’an; does that mean that they provide an accurate view of God, the universe, and mankind? No.

Read more examples of their faulty logic here.

The evolution of the embryo inside the maternal uterus is only briefly described, but the description is accurate, because the simple words referring to it correspond exactly to fundamental stages in its growth. This is what we read in a verse from the sura Al Mu’minun (23:14).

’We fashioned the thing which clings into a chewed lump of flesh and We fashioned the chewed flesh into bones and We clothed the bones with intact flesh’.

The term ‘chewed flesh’ (mudga) corresponds exactly to the appearance of the embryo at a certain stage in its development.

It is known that the bones develop inside this mass and that they are then covered with muscle. This is the meaning of the term ‘intact flesh’ (lahm).

The embryo passes through a stage where some parts are in proportion and others out of proportion with what is later to become the individual. Maybe this is the meaning of a verse in the sura Al Hajj (22:5) which reads as follows:

We fashioned [man] into something which clings into a lump of flesh in proportion and out of proportion.

(Bucaille - Qur’an and Science, p. 13)
I found this book fair and interesting…

“If religion is opposed to reason and science, faith is impossible;
and when faith and confidence in the divine religion are not manifest in the heart,
there can be no spiritual attainment.” ~Abdu’l-Baha, The Promulgation of Universal Peace, p. 298

I read your article and snickered.

This really made me start chuckling:
Premise One: If unbelievers can’t produce something comparable to a chapter of the Qur’an, then it must be from God.
Premise Two: Unbelievers can’t produce something equivalent to a chapter of the Qur’an.
Conclusion: Therefore, the Qur’an must be from God.
A caveman on the wall of his cave had writings more impressive than the Koran. The Koran is a book from a very disturbed man. My 2 1/2 year old niece can do a better job than Mohammed did and she can’t read or write either. She colors people orange and purple, so that would be comparable to Mohammed’s lumping people into believers and unbelievers. She lumps them into orange people and purple people. And when she doesn’t get her way she lets out a yell so loud it would make your eardrum split. As compared to Mohammed not getting his way, he would just create a Surah to justify his behavior and carry on as if his perversion was totally justified because Allah said it was ok. Because he didn’t get his way with the Quraysh, he had the men beheaded and took the women and children as slaves. What is worse? An ear splitting scream, or murdering and enslaving people, if one doesn’t get their way?

The miracles of the Koran. From the murdering Major Hasan for the god, Allah, in his disturbing powerpoint presentation from 2007 he named those verses as proof that the Koran’s miracles. I know that in Islam the Major is not considered a murderer but I won’t go into that here.

Actually, we have a better example in the Iliad. Muslims claim that the Qur’an was recited and recited from memory by the faithful before it was written down just after Mohammed’s death. Its ability to be memorized is supposed to be some kind of proof that it is from God.

So the Iliad is a great epic poem that was recited from memory, not by the ordinary but by the bards, for hundreds of years before it was written down. It certainly must be from God too.

This is all wrong. Sheesh, people, I’m not even an embryologist, but I can use Google, and when I entered “embryology in the Qur’an”, I found this document, which states that the Qur’an has it wrong. The muscle begins forming at the same time as the cartilage which the precursor to bone. The Qur’an relfects the understanding of Greek physicians living hundreds of years before Muhammad who were similarly WRONG on this point, proving once again that there is no scientific miracle in the Qur’an. What little that can be taken to be scientific merely reflects the knowledge of the time, which was not surprisingly often wrong.

And I found it to be nonsense. The article I linked above mentions “Dr.” Bucaille and how he knowingly spread falsehoods in the name of connecting the Qur’an and science. Did you know that he wrote that book while in the service of King Faisal of Saudi Arabia, as his family physician? If you think this had no impact on the content of his book, I’ve got some premium land in Mecca to sell you.

Could that be why Muslim royalty come to the U.S. for medical attention?

Another book i would recomment is The Disconnected Letters of the Qur’án and the Significance of the Number Nineteen, by Robert T. Cameron

This is not from the Submitters in Tucson, who were started by Rashad Khalifa, who used a computer to show how many aspects of the Quran were based on the number 19, but 19 is the base of many aspects in the Babi-Bahai faith, and it wasn’t obtained by computers!

I’m not saying everything Bucaille said is right, by any means.
In fact, i would draw your attention to two movements which came out of Arabia in the late 1700s. One is the narrow-minded Wahhabi movement, which is still in power, and which you are well aware of, no doubt. The other was the Shaykhí school of Shíih Islam, begun by Shaykh Ahmad of Ahsa, which led to the Bab and Baha’u’llah. I find it interesting to compare what both of these have achieved.
One is still promoting military jihad and the other has abolished its observance…etc

Nobody cares about your mystical number junk, David Mark, so I’m clipping all that, as it has nothing to do with anything.
I’m not saying everything Bucaille said is right, by any means.
Hahaha. Are you being serious right now? Is this seriously your defense of the Qur’an and your beliefs? You posted just yesterday, in post 67 at 5:10 AM, the following:

(emphasis mine)

This is not what Bucaille wrote. This is what is written in the Qur’an, and it is WRONG, and you are believing it just because it is written there, which makes you wrong, and ignorant to boot. Seriously, I found that reference I cited earlier in about five seconds. You could have found it, too, if you hadn’t blindly assumed that the Qur’an was right just because it’s the Qur’an. Bucaille, if he were a doctor of any merit, must have known it was wrong, and either did not address it or lied about it. Such deception and/or willful ignorance is the only way anyone can argue that the Qur’an is in harmony with science (or has any kind of “scientific miracle” in it).

Are you in Assyria now?
Do you remember Micah 7?

When we speak of islám, we mean the submission to the will of God by the Messengers and their followers. The Qur’án, which some of you obviously despise, spoke of them as muslim.
I personally love the Qur’án, and find it more scientific than the Bible, by a long shot!

For us, the Báb and Bahá’u’lláh are the Promised Ones, and the standards for true *islám *now.

O people of the Qur’án! Ye are as nothing unless ye submit unto the Remembrance of God and unto this Book. If ye follow the Cause of God, We will forgive you your sins, and if ye turn aside from Our command, We will, in truth, condemn your souls in Our Book, unto the Most Great Fire. We, verily, do not deal unjustly with men, even to the extent of a speck on a date-stone.(Selections from the Writings of the Bab, p. 61)

**Such as are the true followers of islám would say: ‘O Lord our God! We have hearkened to the call of Thy Remembrance and obeyed Him. Forgive us our sins. Thou art, verily, the Eternal Truth, and unto Thee, our Infallible Retreat, must we all return.’ **~Selections from the Writings of the Báb p. 44

Where does the Bible claim to be scientific?

Additional question: How does anything you, David Mark, answer what I posted? The Qur’an is WRONG in a passage you said was scientifically accurate so now you’re talking about the meaning of the word “Islam”, and saying that the Qur’an is more scientific than the Bible without any proof being that statement?

Though Ralf is most certainly correct: We don’t even claim that the Bible is scientific. It is the holy book of our religion, not a science textbook. If you want to claim that the Qur’an is scientific, you’ll need to resolve these places where it is NOT at all out of the ordinary (regurgitating incorrect scientific guesses that had been around for hundreds of years before Muhammad), and is in fact WRONG.

I personally love the Qur’án, and find it more scientific than the Bible, by a long shot!
Weeeeell … SO WHAT???!!! The purpose of the Bible is to bring the word of God to man, not to teach science. I presume the intent of the Qur’an is to bring the word of Allah to his followers, also not to teach science. Occasionally, you will find a science book in which the author proclaims a belief in God. Does that make the book’s science better than another of the same subject? No.

I repeat my post in #65:
…The Qur’an could be the best science book in history, but does that make its so-called moral teachings true? No. There are literally thousands and thousands of books that are more scientifically explicit and more scientifically accurate than the Qur’an; does that mean that they provide an accurate view of God, the universe, and mankind? No.
But somehow in the Muslims mind, non-sequiturs make for good reasoning.

Even if we concede that there is lots of science in the Qur’an, what have Muslims done with that knowledge? Nothing. Nada. Zero. Zip. Zilch.
