Actually, I was hoping for more science in this article to disprove the existence of ghost. But ah well, it was and interesting article. 🙂

WASHINGTON - It may be the season for vampires, ghosts and zombies. Just remember, they’re not real, warns physicist Costas Efthimiou. Obviously, you might say. But Efthimiou, a professor at the University of Central Florida, points to surveys that show American gullibility for the supernatural.

Using science and math, Efthimiou explains why it is ghosts can’t walk among us while also gliding through walls, like Patrick Swayze in the movie “Ghost.” That violates Newton’s law of action and reaction. If ghosts walk, their feet apply force to the floor, but if they go through walls they are without substance, the professor says.
"So which is it? Are ghosts material or material-less?" he asks
.

and as for vampires he says:

Efthimiou takes out the calculator to prove that if a vampire sucked one person’s blood each month — turning each victim into an equally hungry vampire — after a couple of years there would be no people left, just vampires. He started his calculations with just one vampire and 537 million humans on Jan. 1, 1600 and shows that the human population would be down to zero by July 1602.

All he did was prove that ghosts are not subject to Newtonian Physics.

this guy would probably not be a lot of fun to go to a ball game or a party with.

Come on! Everyone knows that ghosts are really aliens that exist “out of phase” with this reality. 😛

Is this the same type of science that proved that bumble bees can’t fly. The proof was good but they never convinced the bumblebees.

Neither was Jesus, at least at some times. Jesus apparently even broke Relativity (Newtonian mechanics is a special case of Reletivity at low speeds). he walked on water.

–He turned H20 into at least 15% ethanol and synthesized sucrose and glucose (water into wine).

–he regenerated the optic nerve of a blind man, and presumably re-wired his lateral geniculate nucleus and visual cortex so that they were able to process visual images correctly. look at Hubel and Weasel’s work where they showed kittens with their eyes taped shut for 8 weeks at birth, were able to see, but unable to process visual images correctly. a blind man from birth would have virtually no visual cortex.

–he cured people of leprasy, and regenerated layers of epidermis and dermis WITHOUT stem cells on hand.

–he presumably regenerated the spinal cord and/or motor cortex of a paralyzed man, without surgery or stem cells.

and best of all, he reversed days of tissue necrosis of Lazarus’ body when he brought him back from the dead. all of the sudden there was enough ATP in Lazurus’ body after 3 days of being dead for him to walk around.

he could at least have left some cliff notes for the rest of us scientists.

A great Post!

A great Post!
why thank you.

i have always wanted to ask Jesus HOW he did those miracles.

Theoretically, there should be some measureable difference in the Entropy of the Universe because Jesus initiated chemical events that required energy and matter that doesn’t seem to have existed at the time. unless God packed away a few billion Joules in some remote quazar that Jesus tapped into and sucked the energy here to Earth.

I could never figure out why Jesus came at a time when people were soooooo uneducated. I wonder if he asked God: “You think I can wait until they at least have the printing press?”

maybe another of his yet to be discovered miracles is how to treat cancer, written on a scroll buried somewhere in the desert. I wonder if then the Nobel foundation would change their rule that a Prize cannot be awarded posthumously…

Jesus did something that is much more important than curing cancer.

Jesus was pretty awsome, wasn’t he?🙂 (Or I should say, IS awsome)!

I read that. Ghosts can walk or float whenever they please, and even go through a wall or two at the same time.

No matter how uneducated they were, they still knew enough to recognize miracles when they saw them. They were as intelligent as we are – maybe more so, their brains weren’t fried by eight hours of TV a day.

This is a very poor way to prove the non-existance of vampires. Everyone knows that the victim of a vampire doesn’t automatically become a vampire: they must drink the vampires blood in turn. Duh! And some vamps are killed reducing their population. The math is interesting but irrelevant.

If he had Jesus would probably been jailed and/or killed in a shorter period of time. He was very threatening to some people and if that got around…

It’s his kids I feel sorry for.

Can you imagine all the fairytales reduced to facts and figures at bedtime? I bet it’s a laugh a minute! Some people exist only to suck the metaphorical jam out of life’s donut.
