Industrial activity produces waste heat; vast concrete cities act as heat sinks; land clearing and other human activities impact the heat absorption/retention/reflection properties of the surface
But is land clearing part of the problem or part of the solution? Given how little we really understand about what’s going on it’s hard to get too worked up about global warming.

Well I’m sitting on an island at about 23 feet above sea level…surround by swamp
So I do get a little worked up sometimes

As the old saying goes, where you stand depends upon where you sit……or tread water in this instance

As for the affect of land clearing; AFAIK that is pretty …clear

We may not know everything (and we never will) but each day the data set gets a little bigger

Which illustrates perfectly why we shouldn’t run around with our hair on fire, trying one cockamamie fad after another, to “reverse” what we know we can’t reverse – and wrecking the world economy in the process.

]Scientist predicts ‘mini Ice Age’

Lessee, thats twenty cords a year…plus…mmmmmm …and carry the 2, then…

Oh,no! where am I going to store the firewood!!!

I suppose the northern hemisphere will have some vegetation of sorts. Conifers will predominate, not too good for burning. Cedars, pines and poplar all over the place, no more hardwoods. Summers will be 40 days long, cold climate grasses and mosses will appear. The ice will hold up a lot of water. The 200 mile limits will no longer exist in most cases. National boundaries built on shorelines will need to be redrawn, skirmishes arising there also.

For the ones that stay, diets will suffer has we go to meat diets, lotta paunchy looking stunted(body mass) people passing these stunted genes into the 22nd century. Snowmobile sales will skyrocket and so will ice fishing gear. Population explosions too caused by too much snuggling. Close quarters has drawbacks too(snuggling not in that category:D), tempers will be short due to cabin fever, and national boundaries will become a joke inspite of the armies.

I’m not a gun nut, even though I’ve done a stint in the 3rd 30th, but anyone who’s serious about protecting his family and food better be well armed. The people who don’t have primitive survival instincts and don’t plan ahead will discover that too late and start looking for the food caches of the wise ones.

Carnivores will start eyeing two legged pray has food becomes scarce, and polar animals will start heading south for the holidays.

For the ones that move, Mexico and equatorial nations will start to look mighty nice, and they will become the next industrial nations. Heated exchanges will arise has governments try to hold back the tides. Vegetation there will start to change from tropical to temperate, but soil conditions will not be able to sustain the globe has temperate sandy loam does in the north. Gone will be days of huge agri-businesses, everything subsistance. The locals will have a bad time keeping the foreigners out

So we visualize a cramped globe with everyone jostling for prime real estate around the equator. Arab nations will suddenly be handled with kid gloves, has favored nations get diplomatic go ahead by them, while the others will be victims of a score to settle. On the excuse of global policing, the powerful nations will be watchful for any slip, no matter how minor another nation will make to validate aggression. Sort of an extended cuban missle crises atmosphere will prevail, if not a complete war.

Not a happy scenerio.

Andy

Not only that, but owing to … I don’t know… maybe my neighbors buying gasoline powered snow blowers, the environment may be warming up and … this is an undisputed fact…

THERE IS MORE DAYLIGHT!!!

No joke.

The days are getting longer.

We must rally immediately to keep the days at equal lengths.

Stop global day lenghtening!

just think, all the ice created from this mini-ice age is all the more ice that will melt because of global warming.

We haven’t got a chance!

Earth has acutally had a “mini ice age” before in the 16th century i believe. It lead to the usual massive famines and starvation and (among other things) the decline and eventual fall of the Ming Dynasty.

Europe was also hit pretty hard. Ahh i love history.

From the 1300s to the 1800s. Some scientists also theorize it played a part in the Great Plague (the Black Death) by lowering people’s resistance though malnutrition.
