Scientists think they found proof of parallel universe

I remember when scientists swore the earth was entering a new ice age, then they claimed sugar was good for you, now it’s all sugar is bad and we are going the Kevin Costner water world global warming stuff.

I put about as much stock in scientists as I do in my space…
 
The multiverse is scientific psycho-babble. The universe is the sum total of existence; how can anything (materialistic, that is) possibly exist outside of it? This “proof” is akin to searching for something that travels faster than light. It ain’t gonna happen.

I’ll believe it when I see it; else I’ll just continue living life.

Like putative space aliens, this does not affect me until there is something my eyes can see.

From my understanding of quantum physics the laws of physics takes into account the presence of consciousness. That is, the whole scientific law, at its most basic level, assumes consciousness.

Parallel universes are an attempt to account for this without recourse to the obvious explanation of design.

We just happen to live in the universe where this phenomena is present.

A bit like a believer saying that in every possible universe except this one that there is a message across the Heavens saying :“Yahweh is King”.

It doesn’t work and is not a credible argument.

Where did you get your PhD in astrophysics and/or theoretical physics?
That being said…I don’t think anyone expects to find “proof” anytime soon. It took quite a while for Einstein’s General and Special Relativity theories to be demonstrated empirically…the idea that time is relative was such a bizarre and mind boggling concept that everyone mocked him too. Now we have 100% proof. 🤷

Yet you use your computer? How can you be certain that the scientific principles that allow it to run are what scientists and engineers claim them to be? You obviously trust science to a certain degree. Science is a process.
It is not right for a Catholic to promote anti-intellectualism / anti-science. As Pope St. John Paul II powerfully taught, ours is a faith of fide ET ratio.
Do you know that the Big Bang model of the expanding universe as first developed by a Catholic priest who was also an astronomer - Monsignor Lemaitre? His radical theory, which was contrary to the secular concepts of an eternal universe (no beginning thus no need for God) was dismissed as well…until the evidence kept piling up. Its a process…for every new mystery of the universe we uncover, there will be a thousand incorrect hypotheses behind it.

The collision of two universes, mentioned in the article, seems to have resulted in the blending (or superposition, as quantum physicists say) of myself with my evil twin. That explains a lot!
 
I’ve had to say this on several threads recently.
The difference between science and science fiction is, well… fiction!
 
The media is exaggerating, as usual. Scientists don’t know what causes the cold spot they’ve discovered; an unexplained phenomenon does not equal proof of something else.

Moreover, even accepting the multiverse theory as true–and removing God from the equation entirely-- does not necessarily imply that there is an alternate “you” somewhere. Given how astonishingly unlikely it was for life to form, it is much more likely that those universes do not contain life at all. Besides, we would know nothing about those universes and would have no way to measure anything inside them because we are operating under the laws of physics of our own. Everything is just conjecture at that point because the scientific process breaks down when the laws of physics it assumes exist are not there or work differently.

String theory originated over 40 years ago and there isn’t a shred of evidence to support it. Much like limbo being theological speculation, the multi-verse idea is nothing but scientific speculation. Its like a card trick where you manipulate things to get the desired result.

Perhaps with your PhD in astrophysics and/or theoretical physics, you are unaware of the hostility between the two groups of “traditional” physicists and the theoretical physicists. One of the chief complaints of the traditional physicists is that far too much time, money and resources is being spent on concepts and ideas in theoretical physics that cannot be stringently tested, much less proven. The impressive result of theoretical equations that, while mathematically correct, can nevertheless not have any practical applicability really causes one to question the whole point.

Einstein was brilliant in his field but are you aware that he personally did not accept Edwin Hubble’s discovery of the red shift that proved the universe is finite because it clashed with his own preconceived desire for the universe to be infinite? Even the high priest of physics can be guilty of his own indiscretions.

To sum it all up, the multi-verse is bunk.
