You heard from where and about what?

TWF I am finding attitudes mind boggling šŸ‘€šŸ˜±
Me too. Sometimes I think CAF is a ā€œparallel universeā€

Also scientist here, worked for many years as an analytical chemist with a dash physics on the side. Degree in chemistry. Then activated my minor in computer science when the industry I worked in started to die, and worked as an integration analyst in the forensics and medical fields.

I have no problems reconciling faith and science. The latter explains the how, the former, the why. One of the reasons I came back to the Church after a long absence is that Catholicism did allow the cooperative co-existence between the two, unlike some fundamentalist Christian sects (the world is only 6000 years old? Really?)

I can respect that not everyone is a scientist, but I do believe everyone should be educated in the basics. Alas, we scientists are often no better at explaining our trade than many catechists are at explaining the faith. And we see evidence of both here on CAF.

Faulty memory is hardly evidence of parallel universes. The way our memory is constructed in the brain, especially with regards to language, leads to errors like the one you mention here.
This reminded me of a book I read years ago titled ā€œThe Seven Sins of Memory.ā€ The book is all about the various types of memory recall errors and categorizing them. Like memory conjunction errors, which are caused when two memories become associated with each other and combined. It’s an interesting book. If nothing else check out the first chapter if you happen upon it. Everything after that is details.
Its hard to understand. Try this: Do you remember the TV show ā€œSex in the Cityā€ the claim now is it was never Sex in the City that it is actually ā€œSex and the Cityā€ .
ā€œSex and the Cityā€ was its title. Given a general tendency of people to drop soft consonants off the end of words how someone says ā€œandā€ may be indistinguishable from ā€œinā€ (and possibly indistinguishable from ā€œanā€ but that interpretation is eliminated by grammar). There are also differences in pronounciations from one geographical dialect to another. Those less familiar with the show or not paying much attention to the title might be perpetuating the wrong title. You may know of a game called ā€œtelephoneā€ that illustrates how something passed by word of mouth can mutate.

Still ain’t buying it. But then, I’m a crackpot right?

I don’t know enough about you to apply such a label. But as a matter of courtesy and in the interest of productive discussion I’m not inclined to resort to name calling. If you say you don’t believe what I’ve said I take note that this is your stance.

I’ve done those tests on Facebook and I don’t think this answers it.

I apologize for the name calling. I really think I’m on to something here. I’m not about politics only

If there IS a parallel universe, does that contradict our faith or negatively effect our faith in any way?
Paradise, Hell, Purgatory - sounds like Catholics already believe in several parallel universes. Maybe the ā€œcold spotā€ is the result of the cosmic battle between Michael’s Angels and Lucifer’s demons. You never know…

I’ve thought about things like before. I remember a while back scientists finally detected gravitational waves for the first time (which were predicted decades ago but only confirmed within the past several months…). They were able to extrapolate it back to a collision between two quasars 1.8 BILLION years ago…a collision so massive that the ripples passed through our solar system after all this time. I remember thinking at the time that it may have been the result of some sort of great cosmic battle between godly and fallen powers, thrones, and dominions! 😃

Screw you ppl. open your mind a little
This doesn’t answer the questions about your allegations on CERN, nor which CERN you refer to.

We can’t just claim stuff, without facts based evidence. You want me to open my mind about the ā€˜evils’ of physics experts or Particle Accelerators? Crash my mind with a little education.

I forgive your insult:pray:. Its another towards my new collection šŸ‘Œā˜”

…in other news, scientists scoff at the biblical idea that there is an afterlife.

A true scientist would not do that, as they would understand the limitations of their method.

ICXC NIKA

Ahhh.
The old ā€œNo True Scientistā€ retort. šŸ‘

I’m pretty sure scientists are allowed to scoff.
In fact I’ve heard that skepticism is quite a necessary tool of the trade in science.
CAF , great for Scientist bashing too. Really Lion! Some of your comments.
Bashing? Please use the quote function if you want to verbal me.

No, but the ā€œMandela effectā€ says even the Bible has been changed. Its a weird thing that I’m finding I suffer from
Ive been hearing a lot about the mandela effect, mainly about the Berenstein Bears and some Sinbad movie from the late 80s, that they say never existed, but many people remember seeing.

I never understood the Berenstein bears thing, Im not sure what effect changing the spelling on something years later would have or cause.

Perhaps it would be useful to keep in mind what is being presented as proof here:
ā€œā€¦the Cold Spot might be taken as the first evidence for the multiverse.ā€
Something that *might *be taken as *evidence *is not quite on the same level as proof.

Ender

It doesn’t explain all of it. Yall think I’m a crackpot now and that’s just fine. Live in your little world with this liberal run CAF. I’m done.
It does explain all of it, at least every example of the Mandela Effect I can find. It is the same reason that eyewitness testimonies don’t often match completely, nd change over time.

For what it’s worth I don’t think your a crackpot.

On top of this point you have the fact that the cold spot can also be explained with already known properties of the universe, at least from what I could glean from the article. We don’t know that a multiverse exists, and if it does we don’t know how it works, so I will take the several other plausible and established theories to explain the cold spot.

Peace and God bless!
