The latter is excellent in telling what not to say to a Scientologist, as well as helpful tips on how to help.

What we reallyneed to do is educate ourselves and then educate those around us, families, friends & co-workers, so there will be fewer people ignorant of what Scientology is really all about.

This is not the core belief of Scientology, I have been a Scientology for 10 years now and this is not a belief. My father is an OT IV, and he has not heard of this either. The core belief(s) of Scientology is that man is a spirit, or thetan. Scientology helps us realize and experience that state. Just as how many of you have experienced God in various ways, and may also experience answered prayers, supernatural events, etc., I have had many private experiences that have confirmed to me the efficacy of Scientology. Yes, many people have bad experiences in the Church of Scientology. Many people also have bad experiences in the Catholic Church, among others. Does this sway our own beliefs? No. Visit a Church of Scientology, and you’ll experience something you never have ever. Take a Dianetics course, and you’ll already see the changes in your life. Scientology is an Applied Religious Philosophy, therefore there is much learning and APPLICATION of our teachings.

Scientology has a hierarchical structure for it’s followers. The body of core beliefs of Scientology can be divided into two parts-Dianetics, and Scientology. Dianetics concerns the mind. The goal of Dianetics is to become “Clear”, or free of the reactive mind. The reactive mind is basically the subconscious of a person that causes many problems. A Clear is free of this. After a person attests to Clear, they move onto the next part of the religion, the OT or Operating Thetan levels. Thetan is another word for spirit. The OT levels allow us to realize that we ARE spiritual beings, and to realize our full potentials as spiritual beings. There are currently 8 such levels, and each one allows us to learn more about ourselves. The so-called Xenu story, which I have read ad-nauseum on the internet, is supposedly taught at the OT III level. My father, as an OT IV, has passed this level, and did not learn anything about any space aliens, Xenu, a Galactic Confederation, etc. Read the above link that I posted.

Scientology is no more weird than believing that God came down from Heaven, wherever/whatever that is, became a man, died, and came back to life. No more weird than believing that a woman, Mary, was somehow able to give birth to a child and remain a virgin. No more weird than believing that we can ask saints, who have died, yet are living in Heaven, to pray for us, and their prayers have efficacy on Earth. Or that Mary has appeared to people on Earth, some statues/icons bleed/weep, a priest has the power to turn bread and wine into the actual body and blood of Jesus Christ, or that angels have appeared to people on earth and that we can ask them for protection here on Earth. I am not discrediting your beliefs, but showing that all religions have beliefs that sound fantastical, supernatural, etc.

You’re looking at a cached page of Operation Clambake, which is an anti-Scientology website that I have extensively read. I might as well go read Chick Tracts if I want to know about Catholicism.

Whenever there has been a disaster that has affected society, whether 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, the tsunamis in Asia, or the recent mass shooting at Virginia Tech, Volunteer Ministers for the Church of Scientology have been there to help our fellow man. Scientology funds programs such as Narconon and Criminon, which use Scientology beliefs and techniques to help our brothers and sisters through substance addiction and criminal rehabilitation.

Scientology views marriage as one of the most important institutions. Family is very important to us, and it is through marriage and families that we can further our societies. Marriages do have a spiritual component, as they unite two thetans(spirits) together. We are not just bodies, or physical things. We ARE spiritual beings. Marriages, and other life ceremonies, are performed by Church of Scientology Ministers.

Okay, that is a good answer, it clears up my confusion. So, its not a light matter if someone gets a divorce (especially if children are involved?)
and there must be some kind of process one must go through to get one in the Church of Scientology?🤷
 
Have a look at this recent BBC documentary, it’s clearly biased against the Scientologists, as can be seen by the documentary maker losing his rag mid-way through, but it’s still got some interesting things to say about the ‘movement’ (I didn’t say cult, don’t sue me!)

I’ve been ‘stress tested’ by them before - it’s nonsense. The tester said the machine measures the electrical resistance in your body, which is a sign of stress. I know a little bit about physics, and asked him whether electrical resistance wouldn’t just reveal my blood-iron levels instead of my stress, he flustered a bit and eventually reverted to saying “It’s too complicated to explain, it took me 7 years of training to learn how to use this machine!” It was two empty metal cylinders attached to a machine with dials, all the dials seemed to move the needle after a short delay. All you need to do is think of different things to what they tell you and watch the dials still turn the way they want them to to see it’s a fraud.

People come into Scientology through various ways. Some take a personality test or stress test. Some read the book Dianetics: Modern Science of Mental Health. Others, like myself, have relatives that are Scientologists. Usually, you watch an Orientation movie that tells you what Scientology is, what happens in a Church, what we do around the world etc. Then you start on Dianetics, which concerns the mind. Once you finish the first course, you are a Scientologist, more specifically a Hubbard(the founder of Scientology) Apprentice Scientologist. You receive a little booklet that will document your progression in the religion. Because it is a religion and philosophy, you can think of Scientology as one long catechism class, as we are constantly learning, as well as practicing our beliefs.

I also saw the documentary(as well as pretty much every single documentary, interview, etc. on Scientology. Visit xenutv.com for more. I admit, it is an anti-Scientology page, but I do like seeing both sides), and it is definitely biased. We are no more a cult than the Catholic Church or any other religion. CNN had an interview with one of our leaders right after the documentary that night, and it pretty much dispelled any “truths” the documentary claimed.

As far as the E-meter, or electropsychometer, I do not know how it works, because I am not an Auditor. An Auditor is a minister in Scientology. We use a device called an E-meter to help us locate various events in our lives that have caused us stress and other problems. Scientology is concerned with the CAUSE of various problems in our lives. We may know that we’re afraid of heights, but the question is why? Dianetics helped me overcome my fear of heights. Dianetics is similar to self-help, therapy, etc, however ti does help us towards the religious aspects of Scientology.

Under stress, the body undergoes various physiological and biochemical changes. I will not attempt to say how the E-meter works, b/c I simply do not know.
