Britain’s senior Catholic clergyman Cardinal Keith O’Brien accuses Prime Minister David Cameron of protecting ‘very rich colleagues’ an neglecting the poor. He made the comments in a letter backing the ‘Robin Hood tax,’ endorsed by SCIAF, an agency of the Scottish Bishops’ Conference.

I saw this on the BBC this morning and totally agree with the man. Democracy in the west is an illusion. Corporations, financial markets and Billionaires control society. The voice and will of the common working man has no power over the Ben Bernanke and Sir Mervyn King’s of this world.

I can’t comment on whether James Cameron’s current taxation strategy is just or not and I’m certainly not in business of defending corporate greed. What I do know is that Europe cannot continue down this path of socialism and increasing dependency on man-made institutions. Having the state provide for the needs of the poor will make the poor worship the state in place of God and that is already leading to disaster in many parts of europe.

The focus of the clergy in Europe needs to be on getting people back into church, not getting people more relient on man-made institutions like the state (I understand that the church attendance rates in Europe are even worse then the already dismal rates that we have in North America). If you want people to stop suffering then you have to curb the tides of athiesm, lesbian feminism, broken families, sexual immorality, and children being raised by daycares that are taking people away from their God.

Democracy is a joke these day’s, it’s bordering on dictatorship, in stealth mode that is… what next, a sneezing tax, a don’t look at your neighbour side-ways tax ? 🤷

The UK ain’t socialist it has a Conservative PM as does France,Germany,Italy and Holland to name a few. Greece has even had a former IMF executive banker illegally installed as the countries PM! Also, to infer that North America is somehow a marginally more ethical land then western Europe is a nonsense. There’s not a single abortion centre in the whole of Ireland North and South! 80% of the porn bought in the UK is produced in North America. We have the lowest murder figures in the world North America has the highest. We can pray in our schools and provide free cradle to the grave health care ? I’m in no way saying that we have a perfect society but it ain’t any worse than Canada or the States.

Ireland and Polland are definitely exceptions to the rule (God bless Ireland for not allowing abortion…I honestly didn’t know there were any western nations that were still pro-life… Thanks for pointing that out 🙂 ). The UK, as a whole, is also fairly comparable with Canada in most of these stats. The same can’t be said, however, for much of western Europe.

As a general rule, European Union is considerably more socialist then North America is. I am providing two links: the first shows countries ranked by personal tax rates (ie. how socialist a country is) and the second shows countries ranked by weekly church attendance (ie. how religious a country is). It’s interesting how Sweden has one of the highest personal income tax rates in the world and yet one of the lowest church attendance rates. I guess this explains why socialism is condemned in the Catechism of the Catholic church…

Most people have no idea what a democracy is - picture two wolves and a sheep voting on what will be eaten. The US had a republic but that’s dead too.

I guess that’s true if you are selective about which sections of Europe you want to count - which obviously you are.

Well we don’t want to change the thread into an abortion argument, but it’s not all what you think it is in Ireland, I’d love to tell you different.

Irish girls have been travelling to England and further afield for years to carry out this heinous crime…

Thankfully a recent Bill to allow abortion was defeated in Dail Eireann, with a landslide of 109- 20…
