it would seem that hahn is very distorted in his interpretation of scripture? He says the the forth cup has to deal with the passover meal. what it really means is that Jesus had done what the Father had set him to do. Hahn has more to deal with the promotion of his own name but Not TheName. Scott Hahn should not be trusted to represent the Name. Ray

there are old threads here debating Hahn’s interpretation I suggest you search for them because they will educate you on rules for debate, as you have broken all of them. You attack him without even citing properly the statements you object to, and you mis-state his wording of the matter entirely. That is not what he said. You don’t even list the source or name the book. You make an attack on a person, not on what he wrote, without any basis. You don’t even quote properly the passage in question.

Yes Hahn’s interpretation of this and other passages are debatable, but there are rulse for debate. For a fuller expression of that debate, and rebuttal supporting them, seek out those older threads.

Your experience here on the forums will be much more valuable if you spend some time with the search function, the google search is the most helpful. It also helps to search the CA library on the homepage.

Let’s see…

You: anonymous person on the internet with no credentials, no citations supporting your position, and making personal attacks on a highly respected member of the Church.

Hahn: PhD in Biblical Theology, teaches at a major Catholic university, holds a chair in Biblical theology at a US Seminary. Published works NOT under censure by ANY Catholic bishop.

I think you need to give one heck of a documented argument or apologize to Dr Hahn and this forum.

👍

I am in agreement with having to give a documented argument as well and respecting the rules of debate as PuzzleAnnie has stated.

God bless.

oh, yes i do have credentials, Iisten to the Voice of God. HE teaches me what is false and what is True. Judgment is given to me to discern. Ray

Actually no it isn’t. Private interpretation of sacred scripture is a hallmark of Protestants, not Catholics. Sacred scripture is to be interpreted in light of the living tradition of the Church, through the magesterium.

Oh I see where this is going. Okay I can claim to listen to the Voice of God too and actually say that I do. What if what I hear He is teaching me something that contradicts what you hear God teaching you? .

What then?

Such a sad state of affairs, we could both be wrong, or one of us is right or wrong. God cannot contradict God. Truth cannot contradict Truth. It’s this sad state of affairs of private revelation and claiming the authority to interpret God’s Scripture and what He says that has led to all the fracturing of the Protestant denominations. No one can claim authority to interpret God’s Holy Scriputres except the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church

God bless.

So does that mean you have an infallible interpretation on this topic since you believe you listen what the Holy Spirit taught you and Scott Hahn didn’t?

Strange. See, I listen to the voice of God too, and he informs me that he told you no such thing.

Did you make a mistake when you listed “Catholic” as your religion in your profile? If not, then you seem to have forgotten that the authority to interpret scripture belongs to the Church.

Popcorn anyone? Butter? 🍿 Salt? 🍿 Plain? 🍿

(I can just see this thread is going to be quite entertaining, courtesy of the OP… )

[SIGN]Would you like Coke or Pepsi with your popcorn?[/SIGN]

God has given me judgement to discern that Pepsi is the beverage of choice to go with buttered and salted popcorn. See, I have credentials too, I Iisten to the Voice of God. HE teaches me that it is false to have Pepsi with anything other than buttered popcorn with salt, and that is what is True.

Hey, it makes about as much sense as what the OP claims!

Hi,

I like kettle corn best of all. And Pepsi tastes wonderful with Popcorn. I am in agreement with you on that one brother. 😃

I can see that the OP has not addressed this thread today.

God bless.
