And the doctrine of Limbo has been abolished.

How many changes do you need???
NOTHING strengthens my faith more than when I see the ignorance of one trying to undermine it. You DO NOT know the meaning of the word doctrine if you call Rosary beads a doctrine of our faith. **HOLY WATER. **You Say that we invented that in WHAT?? Year 1009 A.D.?? Why don’t you look in your Bible and go to Numbers Chapter 5 verse 17. WHAT??? HOLY WATER???

You forget in your list the things that YOU believe that came from the Church.

The canon of the New Testament.

The inspiration of Scripture.

The deifinition of the Holy Trinity in contrast with the many heresies of the first centuries. (Term Trinity not found in Scripture)

The hypostatic union of the nature of Christ.

The deity of Christ. (Ask any Jehovah’s Witnness if this is explicit in Scripture) They follow sola scriptura.

The term bible. ( Not found in Scripture)

The term Incarnation (Not found in Scripture)

Now some Protestant made up doctrines not found in scripture:

Once saved always saved.

Sinners prayer. Billy Graham not Catholic. More Ignorance…

Altar call.

Accept Christ as my **personal **Lord and savior.

Bible Only.

Jesus and me only, no religion just Jesus (Totally unscriptural)

Guaranteed salvation. (Cannot choose to reject Christ)

Thank you for once again proving and emphasizing the importance of my Catholic faith.

Oh and another portrayal of ignorance of Catholic theology on your part: Limbo was always held as a theological opinion. It was never accepted as doctrine. It is perfectly acceptable to change opinion but not doctrine.

I could go through your bogus list with individual responses but why shame you further. You need a lot of education regarding Catholicism before you continue to embarrass yourself.

God Bless…teachccd 🙂

JW’s don’t follow SS. They follow human reason to interpret Scriptures. They present falsehoods as fact to support their doctrines. By definition, they are not even Christian. They don’t believe any of the basic Christian doctrines. Please don’t lump them together with mainstream Protestants. How would you feel if I lumped Caritas of Burmingham as being part of the RC?
Now some Protestant made up doctrines not found in scripture:

I don’t know of any Protestants who hold to the same definition as Catholics on this one. You are talking about what you think Protestants believe, not what we actually believe - unless of course you are lumping some obscure or non-Christian religion in this scenario.

Or including those who at some point misunderstand a doctrine. But that happens with Catholics, too.

Sinners prayer.

Don’t Catholics also ask God to forgive them and give their lives to Him.

Altar call.

What’s wrong with offering to help someone pray for the first time and ask God to come into their life? Remember the Bible tells us “ask and you will receive”

Bible Only.

This is another example of Catholics thinking Protestants believe something different than what we actually believe. Sola Scripture is not “Bible Only” As a matter of fact the Catholic claim about Martin Luther inventing SS is false. ML never said it.

Jesus and me only, no religion just Jesus

Again, I know of no Protestant that believes this. It is another misconception by Catholics

Guaranteed salvation.

God always keeps His promises

Sorry. I had some Jehovah’s Witnesse lie to me when they told me this. My Mistake, I guess. And for the rest of your post, I receive my information from my many protestant friends. I conclude then that you are all (those claiming to be Protestant)confused…I’ll stay Catholic, thank you very much…God bless…teachccd 🙂

P.S. JW’s lump themselves with mainstream Christians while claiming to be the only true institution. They do not, however, call themselves protestants. But they do claim that the bible only (Sola Scriptura) is the basis of their faith. Unless they lied to me…Oh and you can lump anyone with the Roman Catholic Church. I know the truth so it doesn’t bother me.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen

You are correct. We do have a sinners prayer. 🙂

Hank Hanagraff, who has a radio show and is known as the Bible Answer Man, subscribes to this. Once saved, he says, one can slip onboard but never fall overboard. Once you receive Jesus as you personal Lord and Savior all of your sins, past, present and future are forgiven. He is vehemently anti-Catholic. I’ve listened to his show for around five years. He is definitely Protestant. I think that you need to move from Catholic debates and question your own Protestant realm…teachccd

'“This is another example of Catholics thinking Protestants believe something different than what we actually believe. Sola Scripture is not “Bible Only” As a matter of fact the Catholic claim about Martin Luther inventing SS is false. ML never said it.”

Really??? Then why don’t you tell me a little more about this.

Martin Luther believed in the Perpetual Virginity of Mary.

That he did state.

Martin Luther started the Protestant “Reformation”.

Why don’t Protestants believe in what Martin Luther believed?? Martin Luther never mentioned Sola Scriptura?? Really…

I’m so glad that I’m Catholic. What a confused separated crowd.

“Again, I know of no Protestant that believes this. It is another misconception by Catholics”

So then the Protestant service that I went to with a friend of mine where they said exactly this was a hoax??? Then said that they do not follow religion, they follow Christ. They said, " Less religion, more Christ." You do not know many Protestants as my friend at work just told me this same thing last week.
“I don’t believe in religion, only Christ”, he said. WOW!!! Who are all of these misled Protestants???

You need to quickly have a revival event and unify these folks that you don’t seem to know exist…teachccd

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death…Amen:gopray2:

“God always keeps His promises”

But we don’t always keep ours. Mary said that all generations will call her blessed. Do you call her blessed? She is the Mother of Jesus. Jesus is the Head and Body of Christ. We are the Body of Christ so Christ is our Mother as well. Do you call her your Blessed Mother? Do we keep our promises?? Hmmm…no we don’t whenever we lessen the role of Mary in our salvation…teachccd 🙂

It never mentions an altar call…sorry, nice try!

JW’s are being lied to, but they are not deliberately spreading the lies - as they believe what they are being taught.

I am confident these Protestants are saying one thing and you are interpreting another. That happens to me all the time.

In this forum it is common place. Some Catholics go as far as to tell me what I’ve explained is not what I believe. 🤷 I think I know what I believe, so what they must be wrong.about what they think I believe.

Unfortunately, no matter how often I explain one of these terms, the Catholics continue to apply their definition to me. 🤷

WHAT NEVER MENTIONS AN ALTER CALL?

Couldn’t you have put your response in one post?

I don’t know who this guy is and the OSAS seems a topic for a new thread.

Maybe after Christmas I’ll start a thread or two to explain these terms. Altho I’m sure that even if 100 Protestants said my definitions were 100% correct, every Catholic on this forum would tell me that’s not what it means and not what Protestants believe.

O.K. Even though apologetics is my ministry and I have spoken with numerous Protestants (many who are my friends) I guess that I’m ditsy and never understood a thing that they said.

Hmmm…O.K. Whatever. I feel like I’m in the twilight zone…God Bless…teachccd 🤷

I’m confident that your view of Catholicism is distorted. Back to the topic of Mary. What are your views on her role as the Mother of Jesus??

By the way, this is a Catholic forum. You are sure to have most disagree with you but rest assured that we are not all stupid and know quite well what you are saying. And I am very confident that what I previously posted was an accurate account of what has been said to me. I’ve been around many, many Protestants and as we speak I never had one say that I’m tweaking their definition. They value my interest and acknowledge our differences without undermining my intelligence or ability to understand them.

Protestantism is composed of a large number of diverse tenets of faith. If it were not then there would be one Protestant denomination as opposed to thousands. There can be no blanket statements when proclaiming Protestant beliefs. You could never know what a Protestant believes when Presbyterians believe in infant baptism and you may not.

Sorry to move off topic but I am responding to your claims that I cannot understand what Protestants say. I hold to exactly what I’ve said .

So what about Mary?? You say that you call her blessed. I call her our Blessed Mother. Do you??

I’m confident that your view of Catholicism is distorted. Back to the topic of Mary. What are your views on her role as the Mother of Jesus?
The Virgin Mary was blessed above all women. God favored Mary and chose her to be the Mother of His one and only begotten son - Christ Jesus.

Jesus is fully man and fully God.

Jesus is fully man and fully God.
So then, if you are understanding that the person of Jesus Christ is fully God and man and you cannot separate these natures it would seem feasible to call Mary the Mother of God as has been done for centuries…

You stated the the Virgin Mary is (she lives in heaven now) blessed above all women. Why? What makes her so special? Could her being that special allow her to devote her womb to God and not conceive additional children?? Your thoughts…

Do you refer to her as the Blessed Virgin Mary as you acknowledged her as being??

Teach, in all fairness, you have protestants on here telling you what they believe. Maybe you are confused about what you are hearing from your friends. Do you think these protestants on this board are lying about their beliefs? It just sounds almost as if you’re dismissing their beliefs as “not protestant” or something. I’m confused a little here, but it sounded a little uncharitable. As Catholics we must remember to be charitable to our Christian brothers and sisters. Especially in apologetics, as I’m sure you know.

I don’t think so. I think she was special because she had the priveledge of carrying Christ in her womb. I don’t think it has anything to do with JOseph touching her after Christ left her womb.
