SDA Doug Batchelor goes off on the Catholic Church

He, and that site “Amazing Facts” are Seventh Day Adventist though they never have the honesty to admit it.

They hate the Catholic Church and produce some of the most virulent a-C propaganda you will ever encounter. It’s pretty much nothing more than rehashed Ellen G. White stuff and, though it claims otherwise is loosely based upon certain passages of scripture.

They make a boatload of allegations with minimal or no actual documentary citations (except for selected scriptures of course) and from my own study of it all I have found that they are terrible about alleging things that have no basis in fact.

The SDA are bad news and the most committed ones are very badly brainwashed with a-C propaganda.

CA has a number of good articles that deal with their propaganda and here are some links that will inform and equip us to better handle these folks when they crop up.

I do not spend time on their sites and simply wait to encounter individuals who are then “amazed” by the fact that they just encountered a Catholic who knows the Word of God better than they do and usually remember about then that they have somewhere else to be…😃

   You'd see him on Sunday morning television. He's a preacher from California I believe. I never knew he was SDA or what he was about but after stumbling upon yesterday's sermon, I looked him up. 
   SDA are the worst of the anti-Catholics. I've seen billboards on I-75 here in Georgia, that say "Sunday worship is the mark of the beast."
 
Deep down inside, these people know where it all came from. You bet these brimstone folk feel resentment. They all know where Christianity began and continues to flourish. If it was not for this fact, we would be largely ignored.

Who is setting the best example here? Who is turning the other cheek? Who is NOT acting like a child and calling other people names?

He refers to the book of Daniel where the three men refuse to bow down and worship the image.

There is a difference between adoration and veneration. You would think a man of his age and maturity would be aware of this 🤷

How ironic that around 8:55 he starts talking about all the doctrines that divide and confuse Christians lol. Once again, for the millionth time now, we have a non-Catholic thinking he or she has the real correct interpretation of the bible, smh:rolleyes:

I’ve seen enough theories about the book of Revelation to make your head spin. They connect dots that aren’t necessarily there, building castles in the sky. The book of revelation is extremely confusing and full of symbolism. Not sure why anybody outside the original Church would claim to understand it, perfectly.

He thinks the Church was corrupted badly by paganism under Constantine. Same Church that was given a promise by Jesus in Matt 16 and the same Church that gave him his bible in 382 AD.

He says the Church commits blasphemy by saying they can forgive sins. I guess he etched John 20:21-23 out of his bible.

What bothers me about this guy and his ilk, is that ignorant people buy into his nonsense.

SDA is something else.

As far away as you can be from these people the better off you are. If you have to talk to them, don’t bring up religion.
 
I listened for about 10 minutes but did not hear anything about the Catholic church. I didn’t know how long he spoke for. I know SDA is very anti-Catholic though because I attended a prophecy seminar put on by them and on the 3rd day they started in on the Pope and the Catholic church!
so did I not listen long enough? I tried to advance the button but it wouldn’t go forward.

He builds a base for about ten minutes and defines his terms with biblical references. Then he really starts talking about the Rome and the Church explicitly at 11:00 until 26:00 the rest is advertisements.

not sure I have the patience to listen that long.
Sad how misguided these people are and how they continue to poison future generations on the Catholic Church and the Pope.

If you have heard notorious Catholic hater John Hagee’s take on the Catholic church, then you have already heard the link from the op. Same tired story lines. In fact, listening to this guy made me think he purchased Hagee’s sermon series and parroted his material…

Basically, the Catholic Church is pagan and leading all us ignorant fools to hell, blah, blah, blah. We just don’t know the bible like he knows the bible. :rolleyes:

I literally was coming to the non-Catholic Religions Forum to ask the question if SDA are just predisposed to being anti-Catholic, but now I guess that would be redundant? I don’t know if I’ve ever seen an Adventist on this site but id like to ask them. I know a few who are otherwise good people. One is adamantly anti-Catholic and is always trying to prove to me the evils of the Church, he was presently surprised how well I knew the Bible (I majored in Biblical studies in seminary) despite being Catholic. Another Adventist I’ve known since middle school seems to be indifferent towards Catholics, she even came to Mass with me once and had wanted me to attend a service at her church too but I never did, I was a little scared that someone there may come at me negatively for being Catholic. However, one day I curiously asked her why they observed Saturday Sabbath, thinking she would say it was because they were keeping with the Jewish tradition, but she replied that the Catholic Church changed it to Sunday and it was suppose to be Saturday, she didn’t say it to be offensive but simply because that was what she was always taught. So then I asked what day does she celebrate Easter? Because since Jesus rose on a Sunday, it superseded the Saturday Sabbath.

I was at an Adventist hospital once and while in the waiting room I read one of their publications, they preach anti-Catholic and anti-protestant (nonSDA) rhetoric as well. What I also don’t understand is many just call themselves “Christians” unaware that their church was founded on the teachings of a modern prophet, Ellen White.
 
It’s amazing and humorous and bewildering to me how they and others can formulate some obscure bible quote, make some additions and subtractions and twists and turns and come up with something and say “see the pope is the anti-christ” or see the church is the whore of Babylon. like what he says around minute 18:30. Paraphrase: “Beginning in 538 AD, when the church started by Justinian, if you appoint a day for a year, 42 months equal 1260 years. The Church ruled for 1260 years. That takes us to 1798, when Napoleon conquered Europe. And the Vatican State has ended. Catholicism is dealt a deadly wound and was put out but the beasts deadly wound was healed by Mussolini thereby re-establishing it. So see, Catholicism is the Beast because it can heal itself.”

Yeah they keep at it even though we’ve been refuting all that propaganda for the whole 500 years since the “Reformation”. It’s hard to understand how people who actually do their own homework and look at both sides can buy into all this.

One thing I find odd is that they so often publish books, magazines, and websites like “Amazing Facts” and yet consistently fail to state anywhere that they are SDA. It’s like they are ashamed or afraid or something.🤷 Maybe they believe we have that big computer in the Vatican basement like Jack Chick’s propaganda says in **My Name?… In The Vatican?

Gee…by that logic we are all anti-Christ because we can all heal ourselves to some degree.😃 I know what he means and am familiar with the scriptures they refer to but it has no application to the Catholic Church when read in its context.🤷

He’s lightened up some now but back in the day he was terrible.

He was rebuked in 08 by McCain after he had endorsed him, then proceeded to offend millions of Catholics with his horrible remarks. Catholic leaders offered him a olive branch; met with him to help clear up his confusion.
