I sent Sean an email as well. I normally like his show but he is WAY outside Church teaching on this one. God bless Father for having the courage to go on his show.
Its still there Mayo. If you go to its main page (foxnews.com) and at the top right hand side it shows the Video links. Click on the one that says Judgment Day for SeanLooks like Fox has taken the video off the site. I can’t get it to load from any of the links above or from FoxNews.com. Might be 'puter problems.
Could someone let me know if the link is still working for them.
Thanks,
JB
No one is calling for his excommunication. I haven’t seen the comments that Hannity made regarding BC, but if he said it’s only a sin for Catholics, that is definitely an erroneous statement. For example, if he takes an “I am personally opposed to Artificial Birth Control, but I think condoms should be given out to stop AIDS” stance, how is that different then the Catholic pro-choicers who say they are opposed to abortion “personally?”Can he really be excommunicated or withheld communion for believing that NONcatholics should have the choice for BC? I thought that he just could not advocate that for Catholics.
Did you watch the video? He said that he recognizes that the whole world is not Catholic and do not recognize the CC as an authority. I understand where he is coming from, however I do not agree. The priest said he would not give him communion if he came to his church. I guess it comes down to, if you use or advocate in anyway ABC, then you can not recieve communion. I agree that no one in this situation should, but on the other hand Sean was not speaking about Catholics. Most nonCatholic religions see ABC as a sectarian thing like not eating meat on Fridays, not as a serious moral issue like we Catholics embrace. No one is calling for his excommunication. I think it would be different if he said, “this is a teaching I really struggle with.” At least that statement recognizes the authority of the Church and the humble failings of the individual.
Hannity does come across as a “bully and a big mouth”. That is his personality. But why the outrage on only this issue? Would it be okay for him to be a “bully and a big mouth” if he was advocating a position that you agree with?I was so hoping someone would post about this! I was so distressed by Haniity’s unbelievable disrespect. Sean reminded me of all the lukewarm Catholics who visit CAF and throw around bible phrases like “judge not…”. And the typically anti-Catholic rhetoric of saying NFP is Catholic birth control coming out of an “avowed” Catholic’s mouth on national TV does more harm to Catholics than anything James Cameron might come up with! Sean making the statement that the good and holy Father was doing more to “drive away Catholics” by his faithful representation of Church teaching shows his complete lack of understanding about what Catholics are looking for from their clergy. And Sean’s pathetic attempts to qualify his ignorance by saying his was “a seminarian”, and “learned latin” almost made me laugh! As though those achievements make him a “good” Catholic!
Have sent all my emails. I’ve never been fond of Hannity because he strikes me as a bully and a big mouth. I don’t think talking over your guests is an effective interviewing strategy.
I said no one is calling for his excommunication, which is true. Why are you asking me if I watched the video? He doesn’t make any direct statements about BC, only asks questions of the priest. What I said in my last post is that I have not heard what Hannity’s direct statements regarding BC were.Did you watch the video? He said that he recognizes that the whole world is not Catholic and do recognize the CC as an authority. I understand where he is coming from, however I do not agree. The priest said he would not give him communion if he came to his church.
PA…you need to reread blessedtoo’s last paragraph. It clearly states a distaste for him being a “bully and a big mouth.”Hannity does come across as a “bully and a big mouth”. That is his personality. Ahhh…my young Padawan, use NotePad to copy and save!I sent a similar email. However, I don’t have a copy since it was through his website notification.
Dear Sean,
My family and I enjoy your show and applaud your efforts against or ever increasing liberal nation. However, your “discussion” with Fr. Euteneuer of Human Life International was extremely disturbing to us. I could not beleive that was you!
It is clear that you do not understand the Church’s teachings on birth control. You really should read from the vast amounts of Church documents concerning this topic before you try to argue as a “Catholic”. Those of us Catholics who remain faithful to Holy Mother Church and who accept what she teaches are offended by cafeteria Catholics who “PICK AND CHOOSE” what they want to believe. I hope you are not one of those, but instead, one who has not fully investigated and understood why the Church teaches what she teaches and REQUIRES Her faithful to follow, whether or not you agree.
If you do investigate and cannot find the ability to agree or understand, please do not call yourself a Catholic in a public forum. To be Catholic is to BE CATHOLIC and to agree to abide by the teachings of the Church. If not, you are merely another protestant denomination of which there are many out there. Why not just find one that fits your needs and not bring harm upon the True Catholic Church? I hate to push a person away from the Church, but the Honor of the Church is far greater of importance in my eyes. I will always pray for your true conversion and of those in your situation.
In Christ,
Ted
And Hannity would be a “bully and a big mouth” even if he was against artificial birth control.PA…you need to reread blessedtoo’s last paragraph. It clearly states a distaste for him being a “bully and a big mouth.”
Agreed. But at least he would be a “correct” bully and big mouth! And Hannity would be a “bully and a big mouth” even if he was against artificial birth control.
Dear Mr. Hannity,
We are compelled to write to you to convey our deepest sadness over the manner in
which you treated Father Thomas J. Euteneuer on your program. You have our prayers
especially during this holy season of Lent, that you will have a conversion of heart.
Our priests should be treated with the highest degree of respect, most especially
in light of the scandal which you inappropriately brought up during your interview.
It was inappropriate because you were using the scandal as a diversion from your
own scandalous behavior. Father Euteneuer has not perpetrated any of these evil
acts which have been a problem in our church, and your attempt to turn the discussion
in that direction, away from your own lack of faith, is self-serving and uncharitable.
Christ asked us to love each other as He loved us. Do you feel you served Christ
well in light of your treatment of Father Euteneuer?
Thanks be to God we have the freedom as Americans to hold our own personal beliefs.
As Catholics however, we profess our faith in one Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church
each time we recite our creed. Please in future be mindful of your creed when espousing
your opinions in public or in private. Please reinvest yourself in our Holy Mother
Church, and Her Doctrine. You are deeply entrenched in secularism due to your profession,
so please be extremely wary of going astray. We pray for your strength, and pray
for the Holy Spirit to guide you. This prayer may be of help to you:
Oh Holy Spirit, beloved of my soul, I adore You. Enlighten me, guide me, strengthen
me. Tell me what I should do, give me Your orders. I promise to submit myself
to all that You desire of me, let me only know Your Will. Amen.
Include this prayer in your morning prayers, and you will invite God to guide you
each and every day. May God continue to bless you and your family abundantly Mr.
Hannity. You and your family are in our family’s prayers.
May God continue to bless our wonderful nation!
Sean, you are mistaken that Natural Family Planning is anything like contraceptive
birth control. Natural Family Planning embraces a womans natural ability to conceive
and bear children, and couples choose to engage or abstain from sexual intercourse
depending on when they would like to bear another child. Hormonal contraception
attempts to suppress ovulation, but where that fails, implantation is instead suppressed.
Implantation of a fertilized egg suppressed by hormone contraceptive drugs is in
itself an abortion. There is no either / or where abortion and contraception are
concerned, they walk hand in hand. You are not helping to prevent abortions by
advocating contraception. Please educate yourself in this matter, so you can better
serve your viewers.
Please also refrain from using your Catholic faith as a sort of novelty on air.
It’s offensive to devout Catholics.
