Apparently Sean hannity does not agree with you …he tried to educate the general and catholic public specifically that NFP is simply another method of birth control.

I do not recall Sean Hannity making this distinction in his assertion.Depending upon your intent, NFP can be construed as another form of birth control, not contraception, but birth control.
In her discussion of the Capital Sin of Sloth [in Creed or Chaos} Dorothy Sayers notes that Sloth is now called Tolerance [= indifference] but in hell it is called Despair. Not only is it horrible what is more horrible is that we now see public correction of this scandal as a bigger sin than the scandal itself.
I’m just commenting on what you said in your post 313, concerning Sean saying NFP was just another form of birth control.I do not recall Sean Hannity making this distinction in his assertion.
More obfuscation of the issue at hand?I’m just commenting on what you said in your post 313, concerning Sean saying NFP was just another form of birth control.
In defense of Father Morris, I doubt seriously that whether or not Fox sends him money for his commentary weighed in at all on his decision to comment. I don’t think it’s fair to accuse such a thing of him. I believe he made an error in judgement based on a amicable affiliation with Sean Hannity. Emotion is the largest problem I’m hearing from folks who are passing judgement on Father Euteneuer’s conduct. Father Morris made an error in judgement based on emotion as well.I just emailed Fr Morris about my disappointment of him interfering and confusing the issue.
Unsurprisingly, he had a Fox News email address ( Fatherjonathan@foxnews.com ). So we know where his bread is buttered. Those consultant checks from Fox News must be impressive to go against a fellow priest and defend a heretic.
His email address is accessible through the article, so I don’t think I did anything against forum rules by posting it. The article is at foxnews.com/story/0,2933,258501,00.html
Interesting. After reading your point here is occurred to me that perhaps some of the foundation for this reasoning is that immortal souls are not really in danger. Kinda like thinking everyone is in invincible ignorance or has some psychological block so there is no imperative to correct when needed. In her discussion of the Capital Sin of Sloth [in Creed or Chaos} Dorothy Sayers notes that Sloth is now called Tolerance [= indifference] but in hell it is called Despair.
Kendy,There is no doubt that the student is loud-mouth and disobedient. Maybe, he’s among the loudest in a classroom full of disobedient students. But the question is what is the best way for the teacher to handle it. Is it wise for the teacher to allow the student to corner him in a situation where the only thing he can do is argue. How will thi effect the behavior of the other students?
There are many other things we can do to teach about this issue. I wouls much rather see some teaching going on.
first, this wasn’t in the classroom. sean knows what the church teaches. he wanted to argue against the good priest out of pride. it was his show, he was in control. No os going to be evangelize because they are told they are a shallow understanding of their faith. A good teacher takes someone with a shallow understanding and helpsthem form a deeper understanding without the student realizing it.
Does anyone have a quote to clearly express Sean Hannity’s opinion on the subject besides from the discussion with Father tom?

You can do your research from here.

I was then startled to hear you tell the caller that “you had no problem with contraception,” and that you should be allowed to receive Communion even though you do not accept this Church teaching.
That is not fair. Just because he’s a corresponding does not mean he gets the money. I know an opus dei priest who is an NBC correspondent and he keeps no one of the money.I just emailed Fr Morris about my disappointment of him interfering and confusing the issue.

Unfortunately, father E is not in a position to hand out consequences. So, all he can do is argue with Sean in a setting where tempers are know to flair and where useful information often gets overshadowed. If father had organized a reading of Humane vitae in his parish (maybe he has), it would accomplished a lot more good.Kendy,
I work in a continuation high school where 90% of our students don’t want to be taught. Still, we do what we can to coax every little bit of work out of them that is possible and try to teach them whenever possible. I can tell you what we do though when we have a disobedient loud mouth who is trying to take away the authority of the teacher and is leading the other students astray. First, we warn them, probably a verbal warning and probably in front of the rest of class. If that doesn’t seem effective, we pull them aside and issue a very explicit written warning. If they still continue with their disruptive behavior, we kick them out of the class. Very often that is just what they need, to have their pride taken down a notch or two, to see that there are consequences for their behavior. When they come back, they are much more humble and much more willing to play by the rules.
I think the situation in the classroom is little different than the situation with the Church. It appears that the vast majority of Catholics are unwilling to embrace the truth. It really only makes matters worse when someone who is very vocal and persuasive is publicly defiant to the authority of the Church. That person is seriously hampering the efforts of the Church to reach out to those who need help in understanding the truths of the teachings of the Church. What really needs to happen is for that disruptive individual to be given consequences, and that is what we have just witnessed with Sean Hannity. He might not like it, but I do believe it is for his benefit as well as for the benefit of the public at large.
The problem is not Fr. E’s words to Hannity. The problem is Hannity’s public position which is a scandal.Unfortunately, father E is not in a position to hand out consequences. Knowing what the church teaches and understanding it are not the same thing. I have known what the church teaches about ABC my whole life, It has been about year since I could say I understand it.first, this wasn’t in the classroom. sean knows what the church teaches. he wanted to argue against the good priest out of pride. it was his show, he was in control.
I don’t question Father’s motives, just his methods.did you ever think that the reason fr. euteneuer went on the show was not so much to enlighten sean who’s obviously too prideful to hear the truth, but to enlighten the ignorant viewers who may be led into error by listening to sean who by all accounts appears to be a orthodox good catholic man?
You bring up two things. Being a Christian is not about getting along with people, but it is about peace. There have been time when I have spoken the truth and regretted because I did not do it at the right time, with the right tone, under the right circumstances, and thus, I did not to alienate the person. So, while we must always speak the truth, we have to be loving in our approach and wise in our methods.why do you think being a christian is about peace and gettng along with everyone? didn’t Jesus say that we should expect persecution and conflict when preaching the gospel? look what happened to apostles.
Certainly.the world has been given over to the devil, now and then. the gospel will always be a sign of contradiction because of sin.
I disagree. There are about 10 people in America who are scandalized by a catholic using contraception. It is way too pervasive to cause scandal. There is no real problem is not employing thoughful and charitable means to bring people back to a catholic understanding of chastity. The problem is not Fr. E’s words to Hannity. The problem is Hannity’s public position which is a scandal.
