Yes, one is suppose to ‘turn the other cheek’… but, one only has two cheeks.
If history serves me correctly, the holiest place in Israel is the Temple Mount, and it is under Muslim control today. This is significant as Jewish, Christian and Muslim all pray at the ‘Wall’. (My brother went over there and come back with a lot of both past/present history as seen through the eye’s of those living there).
So why is this feud still going between the Muslim and Christians today, it goes back to before Christians were, to when it was Muslim and Jewish. Seems that Christians are an extension of the Jewish. There are a lot of similarities among the three religions, with differences enough to cause conflict. Simply speaking, to the Jewish and the Muslim, Christ was a ‘prophet’… to the Christian, Christ was the Son of God, and ushered in the New Testament… along with St. Paul for most of us Pagans.
One could say the feud started with Cain and Abel… when only one was favored by God. It’s who still thinks they are the favored one(s), that believe they are in the right. And we all do!
Time will tell how well our religious freedom holds up here in the USA, it is a melting pot for that. But most religions simply want to be able to practice what they believe, unhindered. It’s when my practicing bumps into your nose that space is needed so it doesn’t happen again. But, if it is extinction that is desired by the other, can one tolerate/accommodate them??? And I do know some Muslim’s… the one’s I know are not like that. They too want peace and simply the space to practice what they believe. So, looking at it this way, all of the religions have a few bad apples, in the totality of it all, it is minimal.
It may be best to try and fight back with your legal system’s help and the laws that exist. Put up camera’s, catch them, prosecute them… rather then direct one on one (as then one is not better or worse then the other). This is how we try to do it here. Sometimes it works and sometimes it takes a bit more.
