UPDATE:

Dear brothers and sisters, according to my oncologist, the tumors are basically gone. It seems that the experimental drug has taken effect on my rare form of T-cell lymphoma. I praise the Lord God of Israel for His goodness. I give special thanks to all of you prayer warriors whose faithfulness to prayer has shaken Heaven with petitions on my behalf!

My family is greatly relieved. I will continue on the treatment as planned for a few more months. Still, I must survive until January 1, 2010 to have the insurance coverage to pay for a stem-cell transplant. That’s the good. The bad is that it is unlikely that a match will be found. My immune system has unusual features that make a match anywhere in the world unlikely. I have no siblings, and only two children to test for compatibility. Since my children have only 50% DNA from my side, it will be a miracle if either is compatible.

However, it was certainly uplifting to hear some good news after nearly running out of options due to the damage done by the chemo and the basic non-existence of my immune system. I must praise God also for keeping me healthy even without immunity. Since beginning chemo in August '08, I have been spared any and all infections. Not even a common cold! I am washing my hands a lot more in recent times though…

Again, I praise God for having great mercy upon a soul who is deserving of very little.
Jesus thank You for Your kindness to this good man. Let Your grace continue to flow into his life and the lives of his loved ones.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit!
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be
World without end.
Amen

Praying for your complete recovery and a donor match …

Hail Mary,
full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the Fruit Of Thy Womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen
Loving God,

We thank you for helping our brother and his wife to persevere this far. Please continue to bless him, have mercy on him, and help with his healing in accordance with your Holy and perfect will. Please grant our brother the special grace to share his story with others so that hope may grow with Your suffering people, O Lord.

Amen.

I am sustained by the love which is poured into these threads! As long as life endures, I shall remain filled with hope. I know that much of the Lord’s work remains to be done, and I can only pray that He has more for me to do. I will give account when He calls me, but I cannot help but feel that I should have so much more work listed on my eternal resumé. I have benefitted from His mercy on a daily basis, so I have no doubt concerning His love. Still, there is so much sowing to do.

I ask the Lord to bless all who offer prayer on my behalf. It has brought His favor and has fortified my hope. Amen! Alleluia!

You are in my prayers daily. But you have already been cured the moment you asked God for help. Now all we have to do is wait and see what God is going to do. Either way you are a miracle. I know God will give you the strength to do what must be done. But either way it will be Gods will. And I know that Gods will is what is best for you and your family. All we can do now is pray, and wait and trust Gods will.

Trust me Love, I have been in this place. My husband has stage 3 lymphoma. Its been over ten years now. No sign of the cancer being back. God will do what is the best. He always does. My brother had a brain tumor, God also cured him, but his cure was to be for the next world. So I have been on both sides of the fence, But the same outcome. God knows the best. Don’t worry about a match, If its Gods will it will be there! Let us pray that our will is Gods will also!

Jim,

When you first reported your situation, I placed you on my “Impossible Intention” List. This is the list of those intentions which, quite frankly, seem unlikely to be answered. This is an actual list of intentions (written on a piece of paper) that I present to The Blessed Mother and ask her to give to Jesus. Once things start to happen with these intentions, I remove them from the “Impossible” list as an acknowledgement of Mary’s intercessory power. I can’t tell you how many intentions have been added and removed from that list, but it’s been several. In many cases, these were situations that went unresolved for years. The Blessed Mother’s intercessory power is tremendous. When I decided to add you to the list, I didn’t hold back and have been praying for a complete healing. I feel the news that the tumors are gone warrants removal from the Impossible list. I’ll still be praying and I can always put you back on the list, but I am fully convinced that Our Lady’s intercession contributed greatly to your healing.

One more thing, the fact that I actually maintain such a list in no way implies a superstitious belief on my part. Instead it helps my feeble mind visualize that Mary’s intercession is real and reminds me that she really looks out for us. If anybody doubts it, I invite you to present your own “Impossible Intentions” to her and see what happens…I think you will be pleasantly surprised. While you may not get the exact answers that you request, you will see things happen… and get what is best for you.

Congratulations on the good news, Jim, and thanks for all that you do to strengthen our faith!

God Bless,
Gary
Gary, the Lord has blessed you by giving you a heart for others. We are both here due to His mercy. Thank you so much for all of your prayers, as I thank each and every one who has posted here, and those who have only prayed. This is precisely how the Lord brings blessing from affliction. We are so weak and limited in our abilities, but our hearts in prayer can accomplish much good. It occurred to me that, even though I am not out that much, feebly attempting to spread hope via the Gospel, I just might be accomplishing the same thing right here. Many have been brought closer to the Lord by their prayers, which is what He has hoped for all along. May God bless you Gary, and may He bless all who pray. Amen!

Jim, you are truly a remarkable man! I mean that sincerely. God has so blessed me with your presence and humility and determination to persevere in dire circumstances. You succumb to nothing!!! I think God has a wonderful plan in store for you yet. We’ll see… For now, I keep praying that all will continue to go well and that a suitable transplant will be found.

Blessings,
Judi

I continue to offer up prayers for you daily. May our Lord bless you and your wife with the continued graces necessary for you both to persevere and to keep confident in Him and perfectly abandoned to His will. God must be so pleased with you, your edifying us with your holy and loving response to your illness. I pray that you be cured, Jim. But if you must suffer more, may your sufferings unite you to Jesus’ sufferings so well that you be perfectly shaped or conformed into the most perfect image of our Lord. You already seem to be* very* much conformed to Jesus, you are patient and loving with the cross you bear. The more you resemble Christ in his passion now, Jim, the more you will resemble Christ in his glory in heaven. So be glad, you are gaining so much merit for yourself and for souls. I thank you for your good example for others and for the graces you are winning for us all by uniting your sufferings to Christ’s for your salvation and for the salvation of souls.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, I am receiving much needed humility from your prayers and posts. I feel terribly inadequate in that I have only used the gift I was given, and nothing more. I am no more worthy than a hired worker, who does only as expected. I pray that the Lord has much more for me to do. I thank Him for hearing your prayers, and I, in turn, pray for all of you. Your prayers are the only reason I am still here, and felling well. At certain times, I am made aware of your prayers for me. It is truly an uplifting experience, and usually arrives just when I need it. Praise God! You are all storing up treasure in heaven. Amen!
