You’re right, but… it includes faith and morals. No problem with the faith part. And personally, no problem (I don’t think) with the morals part. However: That’s what the big kerfluffle about the Synod of the Family was about. Do individuals have a right (a duty, even) to depart from the magisterium in certain circumstances? Cardinals Burke, Muller, etc. say no. But another group of cardinals say yes. It’s not as clear cut as either side would like it to be. I would even come down on the Burke/Muller side. However, I also see the need for exceptions, which I’m sure they do to–they just don’t want to codify the exceptions. Don’t want to debate this–there’s no “winning” argument since the cardinals themselves couldn’t agree.
