The link seems to be bad but in any case I’ve heard the same rumor a few times over the past several months.

I hope the rumor is true, it’d be awesome to have the throne again. But I also hope no one gets hurt moving it. Maybe that’s why it was stopped.

I’ll believe this when I see it. This is the Pope, after all, who shook hands with Obama.

Well, it would make the Pope a bit easier target for someone of ill intent, but I think those chosen to carry it would be in good enough health to handle it.

And compared to the Cross Christ had to carry for us, it’s not such a chore 👍

Ace,

Neither the chair nor the Papacy is yours. It is Christ’s. Do not think you can act in His place.

Hah! I’ve never said anything of the sort! It’s amazing how many people on this forum will accuse you of malicious lying, especially when that’s not the case.

Benedict is not a traditionalist. He has yet to even celebrate the TLM publicly, so why would anyone think that he’s going to bring back the old movable throne?
Come on now, I wish he would pray the Gregorian Rite exclusively, but seriously, can’t you see the good he is doing ?

What if he banned the Novus Ordo today. Decreed and commanded it. And say every priest in the world rejoiced for it on bended knee. Then what ?

We’d have priests not properly trained attempting to pray the Gregorian Rite and making a train wreck out of it. And what of the liberal ones ? Making them pray the Gregorian Rite won’t stop their lukewarm homilies and the spewing of errors will it. Perhaps over time, the power of the Gregorian Rite itself would renew their Faith and get them on track, but I think it’s best to have priests praying the EF because they desire to.

H.H. BXVI may not be as trad as we like, but for heavens sake the man believes in the Real Presence and sees we must restore reverence and strong Faith among the flock. The world is a big place and it’s going to take time to unravel this mess we are in.

Look at who he’s appointing to high positions. Many are not full blown trads, but at least he’s not elevating full blown liberals.

I dunno, what would you do if you were Pope ? I mean, look at all the cain raised when he lifted the excommunications. Sure, I’d love to see a sweeping house cleaning, but as bad as it’s become, and with not enough priests to go around as it is, I think prudence is wise at this point.

Remember, this Pope did not seize power, he was chosen. And that gives me comfort. It tells me that there are enough Cardinals who have come to see that it’s time to put the brakes on and stop this slide away from the Faith. And when the time comes to chose the next Pope, I’m confident the one chosen will be orthodox.

The days of Papal Monarchy, as we once knew it, are over unless God the Father wills otherwise. Trads must accept that. It doesn’t mean we can’t raise our children in the traditional manner though. Tradition will always trump error and novelty.

The Mass has been freed of unjust indult. It’s all in the hands of our young priests now. One day, probably not in my lifetime, the Gregorian Rite will be embraced by the majority of Roman Catholics. This will come by means of strong Faith, not by Decree or such drastic means as excommunicating liberal clergy, thus leaving parishes without priests.

I know you didn’t say we need to do that, but again, we must be realistic. Just as H.H. is leading by example by administering Communion on the tongue to those kneeling, lets pray the SSPX gets back into a position where they too can lead by example.

There is indeed a New Liturgical Movement in the Church. It’s not just the title of a blog. I pray the SSPX will get in there and bolster this effort and be a part of it. And I pray their major benefactors will continue to support them if the Society chooses to do it.

Back in the days when we had Popes who gave the magnificent professions of the Faith were speaking, there were those of strong Faith listening. Sadly, those words today would be lost on many. It’s gotten that bad.

Yes, the Gregorian Rite is the answer, but it’s going to take time. Shunning anyone who is not a Traditionalist Roman Catholic just won’t do much good as it once might have.

Again, it’s got to start with our young priests. As more and more of them embrace the Gregorian Rite, things will get better. That’s what it’s going to take. No Pope can just flip a switch.

In the mean time, those with the Faith must continue raising our children in the traditional manner. Those families are where our young priests we need will come from.

God Bless

Instead, the Pope was supposed to kick Obama in the tush and show him the door, wasn’t he?

While I realize the history of the sedia, it has fallen into disuse for some decades, and its return might well be misunderstood and even mocked.

It’s not an either/or. He didn’t have to meet with him, he could have chosen to simply send a note or letter.

I guess if the sole critiera for being a “traditionalist” is preference of the EF then you can say this.

But I find that there is more to being a true traditionalist than the preference for one form of the Liturgy over another.

So yes, Pope Benedict is a traditionalist, a true traditionalist.

And celebrating the Extraordinary Form publicly is the touchstone of traditionalism?

Since when?

Following your argument, no Eastern Catholic priest is “traditional”, either.

This reminds me of certain circles in Orthodoxy who insist that the Old Calendar (don’t ask!) is the sine qua non of Orthodoxy, even though the Ruthenian and Ukrainian Catholics were on it when they came to North America. The Ukrainian Catholic Church still is.

Why was the Pope NOT supposed to meet with Obama? If the Pope is Christ’s vicar, then he’s following the example of the Principal, Who met with people the pious traditionalists of His early sojourn didn’t like, either.

Had he not met with Obama, it would have been perceived as a direct insult to the people of the United States, and many devout Catholics would have been offended.

Not only is the Pope Christ’s vicar but he is also a head of state. Refusing to meet with another head of state is not just a direct insult to that person but to that nation.
