OK…so my relative in Australia shared (on Facebook) a video of a mother abusing her maybe 9 month old baby…hitting it and smacking it and refusing to hug it. The baby was just learning to crawl, so it could have been younger.

The mother was not speaking English…she could have been from Pakistan. I don’t know.

I don’t know where this baby lives, why the video was posted on Facebook or what I can do? I feel hopeless!!!

What can I do?

Report it to facebook… there is a “report” button feature there.

I can’t find a report button on my mobile phone. I have to wait until I get home and try on my PC. I’m so distraught.

I went to the post and tried to find a report button and it kept accidentally playing the dang video again!!! I don’t want to see it ever again!!!

My mobile doesn’t display any report button.

That’s horrible!

Is it linked to YouTube? Try reporting it on YouTube. I think it’s possible, but I am not sure.
it’s a stand alone video.

why would anyone share a video like that? I could never share a video like that! I just want to report it and I want this mother caught!

I asked my cousin to report it b/c it was her friend that shared it with her in the first place. Her friend is from Houston Texas. I have her name too. I will report it!!!

So my brother just emailed me and told me that the video is old and has been going around the internet for a long time now 😦 😦

A happy ending after all…

I’m so upset by seeing this and I’m glad that justice was done after all. The video was originally on YouTube last year and it made big headlines and the woman was hunted down and found.

Thanks be to GOD!!!

This just goes to show that if we DO SOMETHING when we see something like this that with internet technology, we can find the abusers and have them held accountable!!!

:extrahappy: I’m so glad that this had a happy ending. And I pray for that child, so that he (or she) not suffer any lasting harm due to this.

We should also pray for mom b/c she’s out of jail by now and they may re-unite her with her daughter.

Pray that both of them can heal and move on from this.

I saw that video and couldn’t stop crying. All I wanted to do was to take that baby in my arms, hug her, soother her and love her. Why in the world was that “mother” doing that?!?!? The subsequent article you posted said that a friend was concerned and filmed it as evidence to take to the police, but I don’t know if I could have just sat there, filming it for over four minutes.

me too. it was very traumatic to watch. I felt absolutely hopeless and panicked.

This is what Pope Francis talks about when he says to help the weak, especially children and elderly.

Sarabande, when you feel like you have no power in the world to stop abuse, remember that b/c you love your children, you are creating a cycle of love and kindness. You are creating world peace by creating love in your home.

Our power as mothers is to be loving to our babies and in return, they will become loving people. Mother Theresa once told a woman that if she wanted to spread world peace, to go home and love her family.

I’m the type that just can’t watch something like that.

Did I read this right that this baby was reunited with this abusive mother? What’s to stop her from abusing the child again?

I don’t know if the baby is with mother, but mother would be out of jail by now.

Don’t you hate this feeling of hopelessness??? I can’t stand it.

Serap: I will definately pray for you because I know that hopeless feeling that I get for abused and neglacted children. It’s such a helpless feeling when you aren’t able to reach out and offer assistance.

Many years ago I was watching tv and on the news was John Walsh and his wife begging the person that took their little boy to please return him and not to harm him. Back then I was really in my own little world and this just shook me to the core and I have never forgotten that feeling you describe.

I spoke with one of my nephews last night and he told me that he finally found his biological mother. After several phone calls she finally told him that she wished he had never contacted her and not to call her again.

My nephew is 40+ yrs old and this hit him very hard. His bological mother was abusive to him when he was a newborn and my sister (his stepmom) is the only mother he knows. I don’t know why some mothers are abusive to their children but it is a very sad state of affairs.

God bless and protect.
