I’m not sure if this is the correct place to post this certain topic but I was baptized into the Orthodox church 7 years ago. I loved my parish and was an active member fast forward to the last year, I moved to a new city. I have visited all three orthodox churches in my city and I cannot feel at home. I have the most connected to the Russian orthodox church but I feel like an outsider. I listen to catholic radio everyday and I just enjoy every single program on there and will listen to mass as well. My husband is also orthodox and is from Ukraine and we have not yet baptized our son. He is a year and a half old. I feel so disconnected from the orthodox church. We have so many catholic parishes in my area and I want to start visiting some of them. I’m not sure I would convert as I love Orthodoxy. Has anyone converted to Catholicism from Orthodoxy or has anyone been in a similar situation. I feel as a parent that it is so important to be connected in a church and to strengthen my faith but I feel like I am unable to do so without feeling at home in a church.

If you are interested in learning about the Catholic Church, certainly visiting the Catholic parishes in your area is a good way to start. If you find one you like in particular, you can contact the priest there and explain how you are interested in learning about Catholicism but not sure you would want to convert. He could give you information about what programs the parish has which you could participate in to learn more, and direct you to other good resources.

You also are always welcome on these forums to ask any questions you may have. You asked if anyone has converted from Catholicism to Orthodoxy, and that’s a great question with many people here willing to share their stories. I would suggest asking it in a new thread with “Conversion from Orthodoxy” or something similar as the title, to grab people’s attention.

God bless.

You might want to check out the form is on byzcath.org– there are a great many threads from people who have gone through similar experiences.

Have you considered eastern catholicism ? You may feel at home there especially if you enjoy listening to catholic shows …

Look for an Eastern Rite Catholic Church. If one exists, I am certain that their ancient liturgy will make you feel at home.
