I know it’s an "old"show now but it had some good life-lessons.
I always find myself having Seinfeld moments in life it makes my life more happy becuase I see humor in the everyday situations.
Anyone else?
.

Well, I’m not a huge Seinfeld fan, but I certainly believe that a sense of humor can help you get by in life. I really never understood people who could not/would not see the “silliness” in life.

I’ve had a few situations in my life that the choice was to either 1)slit my wrists or 2) try to find some humor in the situation. Guess what? I found some humor in the situation, and it helped me get by.

I probably have a wierd sense of humor and laugh at things that a lot of other people wouldn’t, but hey, it helps release some stress, too.

I had a West African friend who would often say of a bad situation “I laugh so I do not cry!”

The chess match between Jerry’s brain and Jerry’s private part.

Brilliant- every man’s struggle. Of course they leave out the all important factor- the soul.

I love the one where George is a marine biologist.
“The sea was rough that day my friends…”

I admit that I’m not a fan of the show, and haven’t seen most of the episodes, but of the few that I have seen, ever single one was utterly immoral.
  • The gang makes a bet to give up masturbation. One by one they fail, proving not only does everyone do it, but that people have to do it.
  • The girl gets a lot more stupid and the short pudgy guy gets smarter. Why? Because they’ve gone mere weeks without non-marital sex. In the end things return to normal because they both had to give in to the temptations around them.
  • The girl drives all around town looking for her favorite form of contraception.
It seems every seingle episode I’ve seens centers around improper sexual situations. Not sure what the life lesson there is supposed to be.

I am very conservative when it comes to moral issues. But part of the show is to say that these people are NOT moral examples of what is good. It reveals the prevaling wisdom of what most people think-This is good to know.

I would not recommend Seinfeld for family tv time. Seinfeld is about as ‘adult’ as we get at my house.

There’s an episode where Jerry makes out with his girlfiend during Schindler’s List. His mother learns about this and is horrified. The whole point is to show how sacred some things are. Since his mother reprimands him.

Where do we draw the line on being too prudent. Is there no room in a Catholic’s life for humor. We’re not Puritans.

NO SOUP FOR YOU!

JEEERRRYYYY… ELAAAINNNEE… you HAVE to come look at the BAAAAYYYYYBBBBEEEEE!

And the incredible HATE between Jerry and NEWMAN! Brilliant.

Exactly. 👍
It’s not like these shows are considered “reality TV” or even a “documentary”… they’re COMEDIES!

This is basically what the final episode was about. They were put on trial for NOT being Good Samaritans. All of the extra characters from the past were brought forward to give examples of poor morality on their part. Of course they were found guilty and sentenced to one year in jail.

I agree, very few episodes are family fare.

But it is still my ALL TIME favorite show. It has become a tradition for my parents to get me the latest season available on DVD for Christmas. This Christmas I got Season 7 and am half way through it. I just cannot get enough!!

I think there’s a lot of room on Catholicism for humor, even adult humor. As long as one’s faith is strong enough to not be corrupted and kids are not included in the viewing.

God bless!

Trish

Yes, but that’s the whole point of the show. You have four main characters who don’t believe in anything. They’re not supposed to be outstanding, moral people.

The show is about nothing. It’s about four people who believe in nothing. And that’s what makes it a very original form of comedy.

The final episode was all about how Jerry et al. aren’t exactly shining beacons of moral virtue.

My favorite episode was the one where they lost their car in a multilevel parking garage. Seinfeld finally had to urinate, so he went behind a car and he ended up getting arrested. 😛

I agree, these people are examples of how pathetic immoral behavior is. We always used to watch it with our teenagers, I don’t see anything wrong with that. The writing was so excellent and the show is hilarious.👍

“You’re all winners!!!”

“When you’re smiling the whole world smiles with you” sung to Kamer after the dentist and the shoes.

“Jimmy loves Elaine”

“Jeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrry!”

poor fish.

I agree with you Franciscan, I love the humor of the most ordinary things.

Kramer was definitely one of the most unforgettable characters. Some of my favorite moments: Kramer’s skin tight jeans when he has to audition with Mickey and he can’t sit down, he and Newman’s obsession with Kenny Roger’s chicken. The backward’s episode in India, but the funniest parts were about Kramer and FDR (Franklin Delano…Romanoski). And, oh, oh, how could I forget, when Kramer saw Joe Dimaggio at Dinky Donuts.

I think the episode I laughed the hardest was about the bro or the manzier.

I gotta go get some water…“these pretzels are making me thirsty”
