Also, morally, I would believe if someone has a modicum of capcity, they are duty bound to protect the innocent. Even as a civilian, I’ve been in the military and trained in ma, I couldn’t live with myself with just running away.
Yep, not only for police, but for those in charge of families as well ( parents)

Pope John Paul II’s Encyclical EVANGELIUM VITAE
“…legitimate defense can **be not only a right but a grave duty **for someone responsible for another’s life, the common good of the family or of the State. Unfortunately, it happens that the need to render the aggressor incapable of causing harm sometimes involves taking his life. In this case, the fatal outcome is attributable to the aggressor whose actions brought it about, even though he may not be morally responsible because of a lack of the use of reason.”

that’s a nice design. Is your kimber full-sized?
Yep.

I use Chip McCormac Shooting Star 8-round magazines. My practice load is the Lee 230-grain tumble load bullet driven by 4.5 grains of Bullseye. It has the same impact point as my carry load, the 230-grain Hydrashok.

What’s your opinion of the Compact CDP II?
I’m always suspicious of compact M1911s – the reason is the barrel has to tilt at a sharper angle, and without some real engineering and testing, that can result in a less than reliable gun. Also, the .45 has a good reputation from the 5" barrel, but I think is less effective from a shorter barrel.

In any case, it is the butt, not the barrel, that governs concealability.

That’s why I was thinking of the Compact with the 4" barrel instead of the Ultra with the 3" barrel.

Is 4" still too short in your opinion?

The proof of the pudding is in the eating – I carry a full size M1911, and never had cause to regret it.

Self defense is justified when a person has the clear intent to harm. We are not only called to protect the dignity of others, but ourselves as well. Allowing yourself to be harmed when you could protect yourself is almost as bad as self-harm. Therefore, if the only way to save yourself is to kill the other person, the sin would be at least slightly diminished. A sin is valued on several respects: knowledge of the sin, and full acceptance. If you’re under armed attack, your full acceptance of manslaughter is almost certainly not there.
