I´m happy to see that someone has the hutzpah to tell it like it is and show the hipocrisy of those who call themselves Catholic from one side of their mouth and from the other speak the exact opposite.

God bless

👍 And it made the Detroit Free Press to boot.

While I agree with the professor, it should be kept in mind that this is from an opinion piece on his blog: canonlawblog.blogspot.com/

And of course, his opinions on Canon Law are better than mine.

It is about time.If the local bishops tremble at the thought of censuring someone let the Vatican bypass them just like the Pope did in canning that heterodox Bishop in Oz.

Absolutely. Our priests can’t give holy communion to who aren’t faithful members of the Catholic Church.Besides it would be sacrilegious.A mortal sin for father and for Cuomo.

The heretics and apostates over here are still screaming “blue murder”!
The poor devils don`t have much to look forward to, anymore.

And all the disenters in politics from the Catholic Church marched themselves up to communion when the Holy Father himself was here in the US! (Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry, and all the pro abortion crowd) It’s been repeated over and over again. It is about time the Vatican stepped in!!! But that’s not to say that anyone here will actually listen or do what is asked by the Vatican.

I hate to say it, but Warikoo has terribly misunderstood, misconstrued, misquoted, and mistaken much of Dr. Peters’ statements and position. Though to his credit, he’s not the first.

Though published by The Detroit Free Press, it is more opinion than news. Of course, that statement is opinion, and not news itself.

Did the Pope or ecumenical ministers know who they were administering to?I feel sorry for those Catholics who recieve when they know they are in direct disobedience to the Church.A sacriledge is a terrible sin.May God have mercy on their souls and on all mankind.

Probably not, I will of course give them the benefit of the doubt. The point being Jesus was so overly offended by this sacrilege. They shout “it’s a woman’s right to abort!” from the rooftops and then receive Him in the Eucharist. Jesus have Mercy on us!!!

Dr. Peters has put together a tremendous compendium on Canon 915 and related Church documents for your review here. Also see the Canon 915 project.

Canon 915:
Those who have been excommunicated or interdicted after the imposition or declaration of the penalty and others obstinately persevering in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to holy communion.

from article said:
“I see no way, absent a public reversal of his public conduct, that Andrew Cuomo may present himself for holy Communion,” Peters wrote Sunday on his blog. And, “I see no way that a minister of holy Communion may administer the sacrament to him.”

Peters, an expert on canon law, confirmed his remarks with the Free Press today. He said New York bishops should make clear publicly that Cuomo can’t receive Communion because of the “danger of scandal presented to the faithful.”

Peters was named last year by Pope Benedict XVI to be an adviser to the Vatican’s highest judicial authority, known as Apostolic Signatura. He is not an official spokesman for the Pope, but his views are heard at high levels in the Church.

This all sounds great…yet I admit I’ll believe it when I see it. I’m inclined to believe that Mr. Coumo will continue to be allowed to participate at communion. In other words - no consequence for his actions in this matter.

Well, there are always consequences to bad actions. It has been said, that God always forgives but Nature never does.

Peters’ article mentions the need for an “investigation”. Really? How about starting with google.com?

The Church has become utterly neutered in its capacity to apply medicinal correction to the most public of heretics.

I agree that Cuomo will be allowed to blissfully thumb his nose at the Church while presenting himself as a faithful Catholic. There’s no remedy for Mr. Cuomo (and we’re talking about his salvation being at stake) unless he receives some medicinal penalty or responds to external grace and has a change of heart.

Sacriledge of the eucharist and no repentance of it until death results in Hell!

Pray for Cuomo!

It should be remembered that Dr. Peters is merely an advisor, he carries no authority. His opinion is simply that, it is not official Church application/interpretation/implementation.
