I started a whole thread on this a while back and wasn’t able to get any solid answers from his “adherents” on the childcare issue… still not clear if only the use of modern daycares is gravely sinful or if it also applies to any other scenario in which someone other than the biological mother assists with child rearing (e.g. sending your child to public school, hiring a live-in nanny, the wet nurses that Catholic noble women employed throughout history, etc.). I still don’t understand why, according to Father’s followers, daycare is a mortal sin, but those other scenarios aren’t… or maybe they are mortally sinful too…again, a whole thread and I couldn’t get a single clear answer.
My son spent his first year at home with his mom, then the next year and a half at home with his grandma, and now, at almost 3, he’s in daycare and learning so much…just thriving. Objectively I don’t see how that’s different than sending him to public or Catholic school in a couple years, but perhaps they would condemn it as a gravely sinful situation…perhaps his grandmother helping look after him was gravely sinful in their books too… there seems to be a lot of emphasis on “the mother must do it all and ideally will home school her kids to boot”, especially when you’re told that fathers should work two or three jobs before a mother should work outside the home. Its just so bizarre.
