Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today the Catholic Church celebrates the Feast of Mary’s Nativity (although we do not know the actual date). Today’s Feast is celebrated 9 months after the Feast of her Immaculate Conception. In a similar manner the Feast of Jesus’ Nativity (Dec. 25) is celebrated 9 months after His Incarnation/Conception in Mary’s womb (Mar. 25).

In the Liturgy of the Hours Morning prayer, the antiphon before the Benedictus is:
Your birth, O Virgin Mother of God, announced joy to the whole world, for from you has risen the Sun of justice, Christ our God. He released us from the ancient curse and made us blessed; he destroyed death and gave us eternal life.
It is such a joy to think of God’s creation of Mary our Mother. The Hymn for today expresses it well:
Mary the Dawn
Mary the Dawn, Christ the Perfect Day;
Mary the Gate, Christ the Heav’nly Way!
Mary the Root, Christ the Mystic Vine;
Mary the Grape, Christ the Sacred Wine!
Mary the Wheat-sheaf, Christ the Living Bread;
Mary the Rose-Tree, Christ the Rose Blood-red!
Mary the Font, Christ the Cleansing Flood;
Mary the Chalice, Christ the Saving Blood!
Mary the Temple, Christ the Temple’s Lord;
Mary the Shrine, Christ the God adored!
Mary the Beacon, Christ the Haven’s Rest;
Mary the Mirror, Christ the Vision Blest!
Mary the Mother, Christ the Mother’s Son.
Both ever blest while endless ages run.
Amen.
May this be a blessed day for all, honoring Jesus through Mary, with praise and thanks!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAMA MARY!!! :):extrahappy::dancing::clapping:

I had arranged about one month ago, to make sure the Mass offered today in my home parish would be for the intentions of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. . . couldn’t think of a better birthday present for our Mother.

Our presider - Father V. , joined us for the Rosary which we prayed directly following the Mass.

“To Jesus through Mary”. . . can’t beat it.

👍

Greetings!

Today is also “Our Lady of Charity” Day. If I remember correctly, her statue was found, after praying for safety during the storm, in the water and dry by the three boys around 1612. By the way, she is always depicted as a dark woman of African decent. The statue at the Washington DC National Shrine does not look at all like her.

Happy Feast Day to all those named “Caridad”!

Luz Maria

Thanks, sister.

Praise be to God the Father, Who on her birthday adorned her with His choicest gifts.

Mother of God, Queen of heaven, Sovereign of the world, all generations shall call thee blessed, for thou hast brought forth life and glory for all.

Hail, new world, far surpassing in magnificence the first creation! Hail blessed haven, where we find a calm after so many storms! Aurora dawns; the rainbow glitters in the heavens; the dove comes forth; the ark rests upon the earth, offering new destinies to the world. The haven, the aurora, the rainbow, the dove, the ark of salvation, the Paradise of the heavenly Adam, the creation whereof the former was but a shadow: all this art thou, sweet infant, in whom already dwell all grace, all truth, all life.

Queen of Angels, thou art our Queen also; accept us as thy liegemen. On this day, when the first movement of thy holy soul was towards God, and the first smile of thy lovely eyes was for thy happy parents, may holy Anne allow us to kneel and kiss thy little hand, already filled with the divine bounties of which thou art the predestined dispenser. And now, grow up, sweet little one! Let thy feet be strengthened to crush the serpent, and thy arms to carry the treasure of the world! Angels and men, the whole of nature, God the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, all are awaiting the solemn moment, when Gabriel may fly down from heaven, to hail thee full of grace, and bring thee the message of Eternal Love.
Amen. Ave Maria

What a wonderful day … here is a link to a Litany to Mother Mary …

Dear Katherine,

Thanks for posting the beautiful Litany of Loreto. Repeating all the wonderful titles of Mary our Mother reminds us of how lovely and how loving she is. How blessed we are and how much more grateful we need to be for God’s Gift of Jesus through Mary, and for Jesus’ gift of Mary to us from His Cross to be our Mother and Model!

Dear NeedImprovement,

Thanks for sharing your love of our Mother and for offering her such a beautiful gift for her Birthday – Mass and Rosary – what better gifts, indeed!

Dear Luz, (your name is beautiful too),

No statue of Mary can adequately give us all her beauty – but God permits various statues and pictures which can help people to identify her as their Mother. Jesus told us from His Cross, “Behold your Mother”. If we are dark skinned, then a dark woman of African descent may help us to see her as “Mother” better, and if we are fair skinned or oriental, or Native American, or whatever race or ethnic background, we may like having pictures or statues that resemble the way we look to help us “Behold our Mother”.

Mary belongs to the whole human family – all of us are meant to hear the words of Jesus:
“Behold Your Mother” and like John who stood by her under the Cross, obey Jesus taking Mary into our homes and hearts, into our very lives!

Thanks so much for your love of Our Mother, especially under her title of “Our Lady of Charity”. She surely is the Mother of God Who is the perfection of Charity; God is Love.

Thanks, sister.

Praise be to God the Father, Who on her birthday adorned her with His choicest gifts.

Dear Brother,

Thanks so much for your love of our Mother and especially for sharing the link. I just watched the video and highly recommend it for all who may read this thread. It is lovely and only around 5 minutes long; but the artwork and the quotes are truly inspiring and encouraging to all who love our Mother Mary.

Thank you God, for giving us Jesus through Mary. Thank you Jesus for giving Mary to us from Your Cross to be our Mother. Mary, my Queen and my Mother I am all yours! Keep me; guard me as your property and possession! Amen.
