i will second that. it was just about to become a verse slinging war anyway. very unprofitable for all concerned. peace
Hello Ben. To answer your post.
WHAT??? To the best of my knowledge you have not posted one scripture. You seem to think that it is immature or sophmoric to quote scripture (THE WORD OF GOD). I can’t imagine how you have gotten yourself into such a counterproductive mindset.
ahh my friend. richard has forced my hand. you are correct i do not like swapping scripture like teenagers swap…anyhow, when it comes to the chosen people i feel i will have no choice but to throw verses out there to counter the false assumption that God has no future plan for his chosen people the Jews. will get to this shortly, i still am waking up. and i need to get together my “proof” text. Peace
Well, anyway the only scripture you even mention is Rom. 11
first we can take on romans 11. the whole thing. do i need to write it out? or shall we just take it in bits and pieces. i can quote just as well as any fundamentalist. but its just not my thing anymore. to deny that the Jews no longer have a part in Gods divine plan, is to deny this clear passage of scripture. while we have been grafted into the tree. we are not the tree. we can do this piece mail if we have to. Peace
Let’s just take a look at Rom.11
Romans 11
1I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
2God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel saying,
3Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.
4But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.
5Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
6And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
Paul makes a comparison between the time of Elijah when he was in the cave he prayed to the Lord and said that he was the only one who had not bowed to the knee to Baal. The Lord answered him and said, not so. I have left a remnant of 7,000 that have not. Paul compares this to his present situation. Now let me ask you Ben. Who is Paul talking about here? Who is this election according to grace? Take a look at v. 7
7What then?
Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded.
“Israel has not obtained that which he seeketh for”
John 1
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2The same was in the beginning with God.
3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
10He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
The grace given to the world was Jesus. This was the only reason for God to have a chosen people. So did God abandon His people? Absolutely not. Did many/most of them misunderstand who the Messiah was and what He would do? Absolutely. God chose His people (the descendents of Abraham) that through this people the world would be blessed.
Genesis 12
1Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
2And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
God fulfilled every promise He made to the children of Israel. Its just that many of them were looking to this world for salvation.
