This guy is spooning feeding us the propaganda that the SDA dish out to the unsuspecting general public. The LDS, and JW’s use the same underhanded tactics’. They have to do this because if they told the truth about what they are nobody would listen to them.Hi HC,
Here is some progressive Adventist theology for you:
- The Great Controversy is Satan versus God. It is Satan slandering God’s name and lying to both angels and humans about the character of God.
- Think about grace - it is there for us to accept this gift and join God and have salvation. Now think of judgment - we are judging whether we trust God or Satan. We can believe God and accept His grace or believe Satan and reject it.
- Back to Sabbath - “God rests His case” on Sabbath. He has presented all the evidence for us to remember, weigh, and consider.
I think Sabbath is minimized when we see it as an arbitrary test of obedience. Rather it is a time to remember all the things He has done for us.
God bless you,
Paul
Hi greggy53,This guy is spooning feeding us the propaganda that the SDA dish out to the unsuspecting general public. The LDS, and JW’s use the same underhanded tactics’. They have to do this because if they told the truth about what they are nobody would listen to them.
I identified that you really can not change one’s historical roots - this is the mint from which the coin is stamped. Doing other-wise is simply to betray these people. This guy is spooning feeding us the propaganda that the SDA dish out to the unsuspecting general public. The LDS, and JW’s use the same underhanded tactics’. They have to do this because if they told the truth about what they are nobody would listen to them.
The following is just a sample of the SDA’s true “theology”.
“Babylon the Great, the mother of harlots . . . is further declared to be ‘that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.’ Revelation 17:4–6, 18. The power that for so many centuries maintained despotic sway over the monarchs of Christendom is Rome. The purple and scarlet color, the gold and precious stones and pearls, vividly picture the magnificence and more than kingly pomp affected by the haughty see of Rome” (The Great Controversy, 338).
“It is one of the leading doctrines of Romanism that the pope is the visible head of the universal Church of Christ . . . and has been declared infallible. He demands the homage of all men. The same claim urged by Satan in the wilderness of temptation is still urged by him [Satan] through the Church of Rome, and vast numbers are ready to yield him homage” (ibid., 48).
“Marvelous in her shrewdness and cunning is the Roman Church. She can read what is to be. She bides her time, seeing that the Protestant churches are paying her homage in their acceptance of the false Sabbath. . . . And let it be remembered, it is the boast of Rome that she never changes. The principles of Gregory VII and Innocent III are still the principles of the Roman Catholic Church. And has she but the power, she would put them in practice with as much vigor now as in past centuries. . . . Rome is aiming to reestablish her power, to recover her lost supremacy” (ibid., 507–8).
“God’s word has given warning of the impending danger; let this be unheeded, and the Protestant world will learn what the purposes of Rome really are, only when it is too late to escape the snare. She is silently growing into power. Her doctrines are exerting their influence in legislative halls, in the churches, and in the hearts of men. She is piling up her lofty and massive structures, in the secret recesses of which her former persecutions will be1 repeated. Stealthily and unsuspectedly she is strengthening her forces to further her own ends when the time shall come for her to strike. All that she desires is vantage ground, and this is already being given her. We shall soon see and shall feel what the purpose of the Roman element is. Whoever believe and obey the word of God will thereby incur reproach and persecution” ( ibid., 508–9).
The SDA cult’s only theology is anti-Catholic, and thus anti-Christian.
If you do not subscribe to those quotes, you are not and never will be SDA. It’s like people who claim to be “pro-choice Catholics”, they are lying to themselves as well as to the rest of the world. It is not possible to be pro-choice and to be Catholic too, it’s like trying to be a little bit pregnant or a little bit married or a little bit saved, it just can’t be done. You can call yourself SDA if you want, but trust me if you don’t subscribe to those quotes then you ain’t SDA.Hi greggy53,
I am not trying to hide my views or shield my thoughts from you. I’m not playing games - this is who I am. I’m sorry you don’t see me and members of my church as individuals capable of a wide range of beliefs. I do not subscribe to any of the quotes you have listed.
God bless and take care,
paul

Why did I become a Catholic? Well, here it is in a nutshell.Hi, Marsha Adams,
Sounds like the voice of experience…Yes, the concept of a ‘pro-choice Catholic’ is right up there with a square circle!
Would you mind sharing your story of how you came to the Cathoic Church?

God blessWhy did I become a Catholic? Well, here it is in a nutshell.
It was twenty-eight years ago (when I was 30 ½ years old) that I was baptized and
confirmed Catholic. Sometimes looking back I find it difficult to distinguish
between what prompted the change then and what would have prompted the change
now if it hadn’t then – if you know what I mean.
I had been born and raised Seventh Day Adventist. I was teaching the
kindergarten Sabbath School Lesson when I was ten and the Youth Sabbath School
Lesson when I was 18 and the Adult Sabbath School Lesson by the time I was 22.
I attended Broadview Academy and Andrews University (where I minored in
religion), served in my local church as Sabbath School Superintendent and Dorcas
Leader. I gave Bible studies and assisted in Evangelistic series. Occasionally
I was even asked by the pastor to preach in his absence. Just as Paul could say
that he was a Pharisee among Pharisees, I could safely say that I was an
Adventist among Adventists.
Was I happy? No. No matter how hard I tried, no matter how much I prayed and
read the Bible and read EGW, I experienced no spiritual growth. I could stand
in a corner with my eyes closed and my hands folded and still fall into sin. It
occurred to me that if I was in a constant state of sin no matter what I did,
why bother? I was tired of always being different from my friends and
colleagues and since I constantly sinned anyway, why continue being different,
why always be an outsider? So I left the denomination.
Now as I am sure you know, to have been a member of the One True Church and to
have left it, meant that I was damned. But I figured, I was damned even before
I left anyway.
I had a friend who was a devout Catholic who had a close friend who was a
priest. And it happened that some months after I left the denomination, we had
lunch with Fr. Tom and he and I fell into conversation. He was probably the
first priest I’d ever spoken to in my life. Of course, the subject turned to
religion. In the course of our discussion, I learned something that I had never
thought possible – many of the Catholic beliefs that SDAs scoff at as the
traditions of man were in fact based in Scripture. This interested me greatly.
Now since I knew that I was already damned, I didn’t think that I could get
anymore damned by studying with a priest, so Fr. Tom and I began to study
together. We had a great time, he would prove a point by quoting a text of
Scripture and I would supply the text and quote another.
As we studied together, things like transubstantiation and confession and the
role of Mary were just so obviously true, that I couldn’t understand how I could
have been blind to them in all my years of Bible study! Actually, in my youth
as I studied the Bible some of these doctrines seemed to be true and these
questions occurred to me, but since the SDA denomination had provided an
explanation (even though it didn’t really satisfy me), I had not questioned
further. After all, why would I question the teachings of the One True Church?
As I studied with Fr. Tom I realized that I was not damned. I realized that the
rules of conduct that the denomination held me too, were the traditions of man,
not the laws of God – such irony since that is what the SDAs always accuse the
Catholics of. I realized that God had provided avenues of grace for us that
would draw us ever closer to Him.
The three doctrines that made me realize that I had to become Catholic, were
Eucharist, confession and the role of Mary. Later as I came to understand other
doctrines, the Teaching Authority of the Church and the Apostolic Succession
also became important to me and made me glad that I am a Catholic.

Hi Holly3278,
I am converting to SDA now. I love sharing the blessing I have received from this church.
You’ll find several flavors of Adventism - from progressive to traditional. I am of the progressive variety. Honestly, traditional Adventism scares me a bit. Please take a look at “What We Believe”, pineknoll.org/adventist/. Our theology comes from the Bible, and far less weight is given to Tradition.
Romans 14 is a real blessing to me, and is a bridge for me to all Christians. See Romans 14:5-6 14:23. I have convictions in my heart, but I don’t feel that everyone will interpret scripture the same way I have or have the same traditions. Sabbath to me is a date with God. I’m blessed to have that time. As for vegetarianism, I think God was way out in front with some of the Levitical guidelines - I do these things because they make good health sense. We are all at different places in our walk with Him.
You are converting to SDA now? My condolences. The Seventh Day Adventist church is full of false teaching. They follow the false prophet Ellen Gould White (1827-1915) who is also a plagiarist. This church came out of the Millerite movement in 1843. They predicted Jesus would return in 1843 based on a false interpretation of Daniel. Then they predicted his return twice more in 1844. After this Miller repented but Ellen White did not and picked up where he left off. It wasn’t until later that they added the legalistic Sabbath nonsense and vegetarianism. By the way, a vegetarian diet is about as unhealthy a diet as you can find. Jesus ate meat. SDAs are also unfamiliar with history. They like to bring up the nonsense about Constantine changing the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday to honor the Sun god. Unfortunately for them, we have many, many quotations from church fathers who predate Constantine (A.D. 274-275 or 285-337) and they all bear the same testimony: it was the practice of Christians from the earliest times to worship on Sunday - sometimes referred to as the eight day. My deepest condolences for the mistake you are about to make. Peace.
We believe by accepting God’s grace, we can have salvation. Accepting that gift and loving Him, brings about a change in our hearts. For these reasons we trust Him and seek to be in harmony with His will as revealed to us through the Bible.
God bless you,
paul
The Seventh Day Adventist church is a false church with false doctrines. Ellen G. White is a liar and a plagiarist and a false prophet. Show me in the New Testament where Christians are obligated to follow the Sabbath commandment. This commandment is not even binding on anyone except Jews or converts to Judaism in the Old Testament. I suggest you read the account of Moses receiving the 10 commandments in the old testament. Moses said these laws were given to him and the Jews at that time. Their forefathers new nothing about the 10 commandments, including your precious Sabbath. Abraham, Isaac and Jacob did not keep the Sabbath. Noah did not keep the Sabbath. Adam and Eve did not keep the Sabbath. God told the Jews, and only the Jews, at that time to remember the Sabbath because otherwise they would forget since they had never kept the Sabbath before. I can hear Moses now: Now remember people, tomorrow is the Sabbath. We have never done this before, so let’s all try to remember. You are obviously very unfamiliar with Saint Paul. He explains how the Sabbath was done away with. He never kept it either after his experience on the Damascus road. The Sabbath was a ceremonial law and was only meant to be temporary. That is why it alone of the 10 is not repeated in the New Testament. You seem to think that the 10 commandments are all God has. Does God have any other commandments or just the 10? Hint: God has much more. John 14:15 is not talking about the 10 commandments. Read John 15. Jesus command is that we love one another. You claim to want to be obedient to God. Then observe that in John 20:23 Jesus gave us the sacrament of confession? Why are you being disobedient?I converted from the Catholic Faith after studying the Bible (word of God) on my own. Their were many things that just didn’t add up. For one why do I have to confess my sins to a sinner (man)? Why, when I have Jesus Christ that died for me and through his blood and sacrifice, I can receive forgiveness for my sins, when I confess to him and him alone! Concerning the Sabbath (Saturday), why should I worship the Lord on a day (Sunday)that “man” said to worship him? Isn’t God perfect? Why would he give use 10 COMMANDMENTS (not recommendations), and then switch some around here or there. Did God make a mistake when he wote the commandments? Does God need the help of man to reset his holy day of worship? It’s all about obeying the Lord, either you do or you don’t. All of the 10 COMMANDMENTS are part of God’s law, including the 4th Sabbath. Notice it is the only one that starts out by saying… REMEMBER! Could it be that God knew that many would forget, or be tricked into a false day of worship?
John 14: 15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
Hopefully you can let the Holy Spirit into your heart and realize that their is zero substituion for God’s TRUTH!!!
First of all I don’t consider the SDA Christian. At best they are a cult. We are not reaching conclusions about your group by reading your minds. We come to the conclusion that you are an anti-Christain cult because of what you write, what you preach, and what you practice. You claim that the Seventh Day Adventist are “borner line Christians” who are you to judge a person or what they beleive? When did God give you the power of reading a persons heart or what’s on their mind? Second, if the 10 commandments are part of the old testament and “just for the Jews” then let’s kill, lets fornicate, why don’t we treat our parents like **** or maybe we can set up false idols and worship them, and pray to them, oh I forgot some people are doing this already. If the old testament is old history and the commandments were just written by the finger of God, and they count for nothing today, then let’s cut the Bible in half and throw the old testament in the garbage! !
In the book of ACTS 15 at the council of Jerusalem. St Peter and the other members of the council decided that converts to Christianity did not have to be circumcised. Yet this was in direct violation of the OT!! The law of Mosses commanded that men be circumcised, and yet the Church decided that that was no longer the case. The NT Church went directly against the OT…How could this be? Because the Church and it’s leader ST Peter, had that authority. The same authority that 1st century Church had over the OT to worship our Lord on Sunday. The Church has the authority over the scriptures, and the scriptures plainly show this.Use the common sense God gave you! WHY DO YOU DEFEND MAN MADE LAWS LIKE SUNDAY! IF SUNDAY IS SO HOLY THEN PROVE IT! FIND ONE VERSE IN THE ENTIRE BIBLE THAT TELLS US TO KEEP SUNDAY AS GOD’S HOLY DAY! You seem to know the scriptures.
There are many instancences of Protestants butchering Catholics as well. This has been going on for some time. My ancestors were forbidden to own land, get an education, or have any kind of a chance at a decent job because they were Catholic. Do I hold this against the Protestant church today ? If I were like you I probably would. You say that the SDA church is a false church and you said to read John 15, where Jesus says to love one another.
Well let me ask you a question? Would you consider a church that burns people alive, tortures human beings because they believe differently then everyone else the correct church. Maybe I miss read the scriptures, but I have NEVER read that Jesus Christ the SON OF GOD, EVER!!! Beat or burned anyone, because they didn’t follow him.
You need to confess your sins to a priest because the scripture gives the Church the authority to do so…Read your Bible (if you have a real Bible) the book of Matthew. Jesus himself gave the Apostles the power to forgive, or retain sins. If you people really went by what scripture says you wouldn’t be saying the horrible things about Gods Church that you are. Read the Bible, read what it actually says, with an open mind and heart and you’ll repent your heresy. You have been brainwashed into thinking the scriptures are the ultimate authority. They are not, and the scriptures say so…If Jesus died for me on the cross (killed by the “ROMANS”), and his blood covers my sins, then WHY do I need to confess my sins to a sinful man (preist)? Is it that Jesus’s blood isn’t powerful enogh to clean my soul of sin. Or, maybe Jesus is to busy to hear me pray, and that’s why accourding to you, he needs men (priest) to help the prayers move along. The only thing you say that makes any sense what so ever, is when you called me disobedient!
You hit the nail on the head! I am and will die being disobedient to men that think they are God and try to take God’s position.
Only God can forgive sins, not the Catholic Church, not the Seventh Day Adventist Chuch, not the Mormons, or the Baptist, and especially not the Pope or his priest!
I hope you can some day realize that it’s about following God or Man, you can’t serve both!
PS> I’ll be waiting for the Bible text that tells me to keep SUNDAY HOLY!
Love Ern!
I really do not think this is an issue or reading a person’s heart - just the words they use to express themselves. Either material conforms to the Bible or doesn’t is the issue with SDA believers, isn’t it?You claim that the Seventh Day Adventist are “borner line Christians” who are you to judge a person or what they beleive? When did God give you the power of reading a persons heart or what’s on their mind?
That isn’t what was said. So, let’s try and put this in context. You are certainly correct in saying that the 10 Commandments were were written by the Finger of God. Christ did not abolish them - rather, He used them as a foundation for His teachings that He has fulfilled the Law and we were moving forward. Take a look at Matt 5:27-28 and how Christ ‘raised the bar’ by having us look into our own hearts and not just into our actions.Second, if the 10 commandments are part of the old testament and “just for the Jews” then let’s kill, lets fornicate, why don’t we treat our parents like **** or maybe we can set up false idols and worship them, and pray to them, oh I forgot some people are doing this already. Thank you for your detailed description of various tortures. Now, if I didn’t know better, I would say that you have gotten off of the topic - which is SDA as opposed to the Inquisitions. As a suggestion, you can set up your own thread on this topic. But, as a general note, let me be the first to tell you that the CC is filled with sinners - and, I have it from “highly placed sources” (Rom 3:23) that every one of the lay members, the clergy, hierarchy and the Pope himself is a sinner! What makes all of their pesonal short-comings bearable is that none of them has ever taught error. Amazing, eh? You just have to ask yourself, “How can this be?” And, the answer is the same Holy Spirt on came on that First Pentecost Sunday, never left - and continues to guide the CC so that it does not teach error. Men have free will and freely do choose to sin. Torturing others is wrong - plain and simple. But, having said that, we need to look at the 2,000 year history of the CC and put all of this in context. You seem to know the scriptures.
This is a lot easier to answer … just go to John 20:23. Here Christ breaths on His Apostles the Holy Spirit and delegates the Power of God to forgive sin - to sinful men! Amazing, eh? But there it is - and the Apostles actually used this delegatged power as we see in the beginning chapters of Acts. Really, any arugment you have with this command of Christ, you will need to address to Him.If Jesus died for me on the cross (killed by the “ROMANS”), and his blood covers my sins, then WHY do I need to confess my sins to a sinful man (preist)?
You may want to check your boast of disobedience at the door…The only thing you say that makes any sense what so ever, is when you called me disobedient!
You hit the nail on the head! I am and will die being disobedient to men that think they are God and try to take God’s position.

Hi HC,

Besides all the anti-Catholic rhetoric, an SDAist must realize that they are sitting squarely between two Covenants.
