Yes, you read the title correctly.

According to Indianapolis’ Channel 6 news:

A Milroy man who police said showed up at an undercover sting in a horse-drawn buggy has been charged with soliciting a 12-year-old girl for sex. Willard Yoder, 21, who is Amish, sent 600 texts, nude pictures and videos to the girl, saying he wanted to have sex with her, Connersville police said. The girl’s mother discovered the texts and went to police, who then set up a sting at a local restaurant.

6. Derogatory terms characterizing a class of people by religion (Papists, Prods, Fundies), political affiliation, or national/ethnic origin
7. Blatantly disrespectful characterization of any faith, (“Rome is the Whore of Babylon”, “Nazarenes are Holy-Rollers”, “Jews are Christ-killers”, “Muslims are terrorists”) its tenets, practices, or adherents

Is there a derogatory term for the Amish?..

How ironic, horse and buggy and texting. I imagine this will bolster the Amish arguments against modern technology.

Chances are he is a member of an Amish family or is still in Rumspringa.

Technology is not forbidden to those who have not undergone baptism. Amish only baptize adults…“believers baptism”…IF the young man was baptized he is in violation of the “ordnung”…he faces the “ban”.

Maybe nobody from his community will see him on the news and it can be kept a secret. If jail time, he might have to come up with a good excuse like foreign exchange student.

Peace, Graubo

That sounds very likely. It is actually quite frequent that Amish who are going through Rumspringa make bad choices because they have been so sheltered. It is not uncommon for them to become quite hedonistic, become alcoholic, or turn to drugs.
