Response to the responses to question #1.
Is it possible to be “free from worry” while thinking, “If I finish up inside of my wife, am I bringing a child into the world that we cannot afford to raise?”
“Abstain” … have you heard of it?

If you would be that worried then that is the alternative instead of using anything artificial that would kill the possibility of a new beautiful life.
Many Catholics believe that sacrifice is a huge part of marriage. They leave it up to God if He wants them to have children & how many if any at all. If it is up to God and He wants a couple to have children and the couple are open to life, don’t you think that God will provide no matter what?
If you “can’t afford” to have children then could it be possible that you love material things more than you would love children that you have brought into this world with your wife by the grace of God?
If everyone waited to have children until they “could afford” it, they would be waiting for a very long time, and possibly even never have kids.
The Catholic Church is not against Natural Family Planning but only under severe circumstances. Depending on what you mean when you say you cannot afford to have kids right now could be questionable and possibly not a good enough reason. I have no idea of your circumstances so you would have to judge on that for yourself. But if you would rather have two vehicles one being an SUV of the same year, a large flat screen HD TV with stereo surround sound, the best furniture in your house, the best clothes,… etc… then to have children, well… think about it.
If you seek God’s will first, then you have no need to worry because God will provide for children that He wanted to be in this world. Have faith and trust in the Lord.
Do Not Be Anxious - Mt 6:25-34
25 “Therefore I tell you,
do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and
yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? 28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, 29 yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven,
will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 Therefore
do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and
your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But
seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
34 “
Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
