I originally started considering Catholicism in 2016, though serious study didn’t really start until 2017. In 2016, a band I like called Sabaton released an album called The Last Stand. The title track is based around the Swiss Guard during the sack of Rome in 1527. While I wouldn’t really consider the song hugely influential in me becoming Catholic, the connection to the topic did help keep the matter on my mind during a very stressful semester.

Here’s the song by the way:

Once I was housesitting an apartment that had “Myrtle the turtle” in it. Myrtle was a huge snapping turtle that was blind in one eye. Myrtle escaped from her fish tank and hid for a few days behind the couch and I had to figure out a way to get her back in the tank without getting bitten. So I got a dishtub with some water and some herring and put a board like a ramp leading into it. She finally got in and I then I was able to dump her back into the tank.

My Aunt learned to drive at the age of 70 because her husband had a heart attack – courageous woman that she was.

According to family legend, my grandmother, as a driver, became someone you did not want to meet on the highways.

@Irishmom2, my dogs yawn and leave the room when I enter, I’m that dull. Boredom is like aerobics to me. You have no idea how mundane I am. 😴

I was born in New York and grew up in California, but now live in Pennsylvania just a few miles from where some of my ancestors lived in the 17th and 18th centuries. A church one of my ancestors helped found still exists in the same location, but has been rebuilt twice.

After going through the hardest year of my life, it only took my mom saying, “Dont worry” for me to feel better and harness Christs’ strength that I needed.

My children are 4 and almost 2 years old, and they both were born with a lung disease called Cystic Fibrosis. They will soon both be taking life-changing medication that is expected to increase their overall quality of life and their overall life expectancy from 40 years old to up to 65-75 years old! Glory be to God!

On the contrary, I’ve discovered you have an amazingly creative imagination and wacky funny sense of humour crenfro 😃

Me too. There was actually a mandatory evacuation of the town. my mom heard it when it happened, she got us up and out, and to my Grandma and Grandpa’s house across the river.

You know, I find your interest in maps, well interesting, because when I was a kid, I used to have a map of Europe an atlas of Europe from the 1960s, (keep in mind I was born in 1988) and it even even had the communist countries on it. I remembered that sucker as best as I possibly could, if you wanted me to get you from East Berlin to Moscow, I could have told you how to get there. Most of the things that can fit Under The Heading social studies, I’ve always had an interest in.
