I hear all of this talk about sharia law and was curious to insights from those knowledgeable about the Islamic faith. Is the concept of sharia law held by all Muslims as a rulling system that should be imposed on all humanity? Where do non-belivers fit in? Any other insights??

By the way, this is my first post 👍

Hi

Welcome for a discussion here.

The First and foremost and the most secure and protected source of guidance for Muslims is Quran.

The Second is acts of Muhammad done in implementation of what has been commanded in Quran.

The **Third **is Hadith, the sayings of Prophet; since it were collected 250/300 years later, naturally it would be valid if they don’t go against what has been mentioned in the First and the Second sources.

The Quran abhores blind faith, so it explains everything with sensible reasons under a system.

Those who have not yet submitted to Islam convinced heart and soul, would do so when they are convinced heart and soul.

Thanks

Should Sharia law be imposed on nonbelievers (Non-Muslims)? Is it fair to give nonbelievers different treatment than Muslims?

Is it Quran or Koran? Is there 2 ways to spell it or is it 2 books?

paarsurrey doesn’t realise where the Koran demands that non-believers are attacked until they accept Moslem domination.

[9.29] Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Apostle have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection

That is, it’s imposed upon them!

paarsurrey’s got a special version of the Koran, and another of the Bible ! 😃

Actually the more accurate spelling would be Qur’an, ‘Koran’ is a inaccurate English bastardised form of the Arabic word (inaccurate because the word begins with a qaaf, not a kaaf) currently fading from use as this fact becomes better known. Like the spelling of Muslim as ‘Moslem’ common in the early 20th Century, almost defunct now.

But to Shari’ah and non-Muslims, then the answer is it depends. If you’re asking about criminal law then crimes against society would be judged according to Islamic law, crimes against an individual would generally be judged according to the laws of the religious minority with both parties consent. Or if you mean civil law then that would primarily be the responsibility of the religious minority’s courts (in an Islamic state religious minority groups such as Christians, Jews and Zoroastrians would have their own legal system based on their scriptures).

That’s as explicit an answer I can give at the moment, unless you’d like to ask about specific scenarios?

Peace.

So Moslems have the letter ‘q’ ?

What’s the difference between the sounds made by it, and ‘c’, and ‘k’ ?

‘Q’ in English has a ‘kw’ sound (mostly when followed by a ‘u’, except for the word QANTAS - which is kwan-tas)

This site can help you to understand the accurate pronounciation of Quran. Hope that helps you in this ‘debate’.

You saying it can’t be written in English Kwor-ran?

There’s many combinations of letters in English to get the same sound.

Hope this helps you understand English spelling a little 👍

All your site does is tell how to transliterate the Koran.

It doesn’t say why one particular transliteration is better.

Why Quaran, and not quaraan as done here?

It is well explained here.

It is well explained here.
Khalfan doesn’t either understand, or wish to advertise, that to Moslems ‘peace’ means only one thing - submission to Islam

His own site says this…
“Therefore, the command to fight in verse 9:29 relates to those non-muslims who commit agression and not those who are committed to live in peace.”

Living in peace means accepting the imposition of Islam, including the payment of the tax that’s imposed upon non-Moslems.

One of the deceptions of that site is interesting…
"The verse mentions Jizya, which is unfortunately misunderstood by some people. Like any nation, the Islamic government requires its citizens to pay taxes in return for its services. Since Muslims pay the Zakat, the non-muslim citizens are required to pay Jizya (for more information on Jizya, please refer to Jizya in Islam and Jizyah and non-muslim minorities). "
(Ibid.)

It would be fair if all the community were taxed the same regardless of their religion, but this isn’t so.
The Zakat is paid by Moslems at 2.5%. The Jizya paid for by non-Moslems is at 10% (though this site forgets to point out this difference) thus making a mockery of the following…
“Hence, the laws of Islam forbid Muslims from opressing non-muslims and command them to treat others with justice and compassion. In fact, the Prophet Muhammad pbuh himself forbade Muslims from harming non-muslim citizens of an islamic state or any non-muslim with whom there was an agreement of peace, as he said,”
(Ibid.)

This is a mockery, because it talks of ‘justice’. In Islam justice is different from how we use it.

In Islam, if you separate an entire group and discriminate against them all, that’s justice - so if you make all non-Moslems pay an unfair tax, it’s justice!

So you need to debate further. 🙂

I am saying it cannot be written Kwor-ran, because the actual sound for the first letter is not ther in English. No combination can create the actual sound but something close to it is ‘Q’. ‘Kw’, ‘Qw’, ‘Ky’, ‘Qy’ are wrong as all it sounds as two. We normally create the sound ‘k’ by touching inner part of our tongue with upper side of mouth. The correct sound of ‘Q’ in Quran can be created by the same way but with the far deeper part of tongue, near to middle of our neck as it showne in that site.

It is just like the letter ‘T’, ‘D’ or ‘P’. There is no exact single letter in Arabic for it, neither can be created with combinations but something close to it.

Second, the vowel after the first letter is not ‘o’ but ‘u’ as it sounds more accurate. There is words ‘good’ ‘food’ using ‘o’ to sound ‘u’ but in the case of Qur-an, we don’t prefer to write ‘Qoor-an’, because people may misunderstand and read as in ‘loose’ or ‘choose’.

Then it is not ‘RAN’ together but QUR - AAN.

Hope that helps. By the way, there is no enough single letters in English to use many words in English itself, like in ‘chembar’ ‘swallow’ ‘Fresh’ ‘Ghost’ ‘further’ ‘terms’ etc.

Great post! 👍 👍 👍 👍 People need to understand the deceptions used by Islam to fool unbelievers into thinking that Islam is benign.

Moslems keep claiming there’s no compulsions in religion and yet they want to impose restrictions and penalties on non-Moslems!

How this is not a ‘compulsion’ remains known only to them.

Just like they have no notion about what “free will” really means!
