Hello, please forgive me if this question has already been asked.

I wonder if the She Reads Truth Bible is something that would be OK for me to read? It is a CSB (Christian Standard Bible)(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

Is it detrimental to my spiritual health if I don’t read from a Catholic published Bible?

Many thanks and God bless you all

No, not at all 🙂

Just take it with a grain of salt, especially in areas where we and our Protestant brethren disagree

THE “TRUTH” BIBLE

2 Peter 1: 18-21
[18] And this voice we heard brought from heaven, when we were with him in the holy mount. [19] And we have the more firm prophetical word: whereunto you do well to attend, as to a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: [20] Understanding this first, that no prophecy of scripture is made by private interpretation. [21] For prophecy came not by the will of man at any time: but the holy men of God spoke, inspired by the Holy Ghost.
DOUAY BIBLE INTERPERATION
[20] “No prophecy of scripture is made by private interpretation”: This shews plainly that the scriptures are not to be expounded by any one’s private judgment or private spirit, because every part of the holy scriptures were written by men inspired by the Holy Ghost, and declared as such by the Church; therefore they are not to be interpreted but by the Spirit of God, which he hath left, and promised to remain with his Church to guide her in all truth to the end END QUOTES

Are YOU aware that the Bible is a CATHOLIC BOOK so if you’re actually seeking God’s Truth that is what should be read.

[1] The OT books were after extensive debate, chosen by the early Catholic Father’s &
The ENTIRE NT is AUTHORED by men known today to have been Early Catholics

[2] FACT: Today’s RCC was the ONLY “Christian” Church and Faith of note {there were some heretics} until 1054 AD and the GREAT Eastern Schism. This is historically provable if you care to spend a bit of time on Bible and Catholic Church history.

[3] The Bible is thought to have been FULLY authored by the end of the 1st Century

[4] EVERY reference therefore to "church: or “churches” refer to today’s RCC

Douay Bible with explanation

[18] And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. [19] And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven. [20] Then he commanded his disciples, that they should tell no one that he was Jesus the Christ. {MY CHURCH" is singular as is the Faith of that One True Church.}

[18] “Thou art Peter”: As St. Peter, by divine revelation, here made a solemn profession of his faith of the divinity of Christ; so in recompense of this faith and profession, our Lord here declares to him the dignity to which he is pleased to raise him: viz., that he to whom he had already given the name of Peter, signifying a rock, St. John 1. 42, should be a rock indeed, of invincible strength, for the support of the building of the church; in which building he should be, next to Christ himself, the chief foundation stone, in quality of chief pastor, ruler, and governor; and should have accordingly all fulness of ecclesiastical power, signified by the keys of the kingdom of heaven

Easter Blessings,
Patrick

You are a troll. You cannot say “Catholic” is your religion and say you only read the KJV.
Go away.

Can you expand on the title?

She Reads Truth bible, is that to mean that its her-story not history?

You know that there’s no such thing as tory and that in Spanish history is “historia” not “la historia de él .” So if this version is attempting to insert a female position it is detrimental to your health and spirituality.

Yet, while I would not hold a non-Catholic automatically biased, why would I read a non-Catholic Bible (unless it is a Jewish/Hebrew to compare the original Hebrew/Aramaic Language modals)?

There is one major pitfall that you could buy into, you could become dismissive of 7 books with non-Catholic Bibles have omitted.

What about religion would you like to discuss? You can PM me

Get a Catholic Bible. Who cares if they don’t have illustrations. The CONTENT and footnotes are important to properly understand Scripture.

It appears to be a Bible geared toward women (not a horrible thing - I have a friend who has a Catholic Men’s Bible - doesn’t mean anything negative, and I’ve seen Catholic Women’s Bibles as well) - but it’s a so-called Protestant Canon. I just looked it up online.

So as a Catholic - no, I wouldn’t recommend it.

I not anti women.

But the title bothers me since it does actually seem to indicate that this is the Bible that women should read (she reads truth); that “man’s Bible” could be just as detrimental if it is geared towards demonstrating some “superiority” of man vs. woman.

…as you, though, my major concern with any Bible is the Canon and the “footnotes.” There are very anti-Catholic bibles (footnotes) out there–the 66 books emphasis can also be a source of divergence from the Path, as the mindset behind it, by default, must reject the Catholic Canon, which places a credibility issue/concern on the Church’s Authority and identity.

That’s not what those titles mean and have never been what those titles mean. Not even close. Neither the Catholic nor the Protestant ones. It’s not talking about teaching or canon or Scripture itself. It doesn’t change verses or teachings. Check one out and see what I mean. Women’s Bibles are pretty and flowery and have notes that discuss important things for women. Men’s Bibles aren’t pink and shades of pastel and have notes that pertain to Catholic/Christian men.

Much like “youth” or “children’s” Bibles aren’t anti-adult, but explain things through inserts and illustrations so children can understand them. I actually have a Catholic youth Bible even though I’m an adult for that reason: it helped early on in my exploration of the faith.

66 books is Protestant canon and not something we as Catholics should use as a primary source, I agree. And not every Bible has footnotes. Some are just - Bibles.

Yes, that is what attracted me to the She Reads Truth version; it has beautiful maps, timelines and graphic quotes. I won’t criticize myself for liking something beautifully made but if the content is questionable, I guess I will take a pass.

Thank you!

Thank you! I was not aware that Blessed is She had a journaling Bible.

I did not mean to imply that that’s what they mean; I only meant that to me such title seems questionable; however, if the content has not been altered then there’s not need to worry beyond the Canon.

You are correct some Bibles do not have footnotes (or are very limited). Yet, there are those that do. So my warning is to those that do and carry an anti-Catholic teaching.

Here’s my concern. Once, a young Catholic’s friends child came home from a inter-faith meet; he wondered ‘why the Catholic Church added books to the canon?’ The child was being indoctrinated in the “flaws” of the Catholic Church/religion. The Bible that was used was a non-Catholic Bible, which to that impressionable mind meant that his instructors were right–only 66 books!

All very fair observations. I agree.

It’s just a “feminine” Bible; Xanthippe posted some good Catholic ones like that.
