This is terrible and so disheartening. And, 90% of the audience at that Dr. Phil taping agreed with the woman. This country is in deep trouble.

"Shock Vid: Mother Wants the Right to Euthanize ‘Severely Disabled’ Children — And ‘90%’ of Dr. Phil’s Audience Agrees

Would you euthanize your disabled children, especially your adult children? One Canadian woman is fighting to do just that.

Dr. Phil recently featured Annette Corriveau, on his show. She is the mother of Janet and Jeffery, two severely disabled adults who she says if they had the ability to chose for themselves, they would “opt for suicide.” Since they can’t communicate though, she wants the right to end their lives herself."…

Blog entry regarding the situation.

"The Most Disturbing Thing You’ll See Today

A guest on Dr. Phil has severely disabled adult children, and she wants the right to be able to euthanize them. A mother of disabled children in the audience is rightly appalled by this, since it’s cold-blooded murder. Dr. Phil asks his audience for a show of hands for all those who think a mother should be allowed to kill her children. What happens next will chill you to your core (the video is in the link: I couldn’t embed it): about 90% of the audience agrees with her.

The mother from the audience (the one who chooses life over death) is so stunned she can only say “Oh my God.” I feel for her. It’s like she is suddenly given the ability to see into the souls of everyone around her, only to realize that she almost alone in a sea of monsters.

Sometimes I think we’re so far gone we’ll never come back. We’ve lost our way. Modern medicine and technology has insulated us from the realities of the human experience of suffering so much that we are incapable of facing adversity, or of even seeing Christ in the face of the last and the least. When even mothers believe they can kill their children in good conscience, and an average audience supports that idea, we’re all in deep trouble."…

I hear people say things like this all the time 😦
Really? That is really sad. :sad_yes:

It just makes me wonder how much lower our society can go before we reach rock bottom. It is really disheartening to think about.

So what? Since when are the opinions of the sort of audience that goes in for “Dr. Phil” controlling? Why not ask the audience of Jerry Springer? Those are the real America, too. 🤷

Oh, but secular societies are so much more humane and compassionate.

Do all these secularists ever actually listen to themselves, or, I don’t know, look at the world around them? This makes me want to pray for fire and brimstone. I’m seriously hoping Dr. Phil’s audience isn’t a valid sample of the population.

The name escapes me, however, there was a man who thought he could do it and is now in JAIL where such people belong.
He gassed his child and in court claimed it was the best thing for his child.

What sort of people do you think have nothing better to do with their time than to attend daytime TV programs? Do you think they have a total collective I.Q. of 100? Think again. 🤷

I hope you are correct, that it is not a representative sampling of American views. I was shocked that 90% thought euthanasia would be an acceptable route. But, I don’t know anything about Dr. Phil, so maybe his audience is comprised of similar creatures to those who appear on Springer.

It is sad to think we have come to this. But for the past half-century, our culture has convinced most people that it’s okay to euthanize humans before birth, and even at or after birth. [Our own president, while in the Illinois legislature, voted against the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, preferring rather to allow babies born alive after attepted abortion to be denied medical treatment.] A prominent professor advocates the option of euthanizing children for up to six months after birth, in case the parents change their mind about not having aborted them. I suspect that it’s only a matter of time before the disabled and the elderly are first given the option, then the duty, of early death. The culture of death has become deeply embedded in our society.

Yes, they are, though they aren’t quite the “my 10 year old daughter wears sexy underwear and goes out with a 30 year old man, and I don’t know what can I do about it” types that inhabit Springerland.

I remember reading about that. Tragic. I’ll see if I can find info.

Sadly, many people are unthinking sheep who will fall for anything that is sold long enough as being “compassionate” or “tolerant”: “therapeutic” abortion, gay marriage, euthanasia. Scary, indeed.

I’d like to think that this was a small, uneducated group that doesn’t represent the majority - but since joining CAF I realize that I (and really everyone I know) are not anywhere near as smart as older generations. The older people on here seem able to critically think, logically analyze and articulate things that I think and feel but would have no idea where to start in defense of these things. They have NO idea how much I respect their wisdom and wish I could know just one person who could think like that…I honestly get sad at the thought of the world being without them.

👍

Me too, and I am one of the older ones! 🙂

I’m speechless… I wanted to comment on this, but words escape me…
