I totally agree this is vile and deplorable. Shows the hold secularism has on our society.I hope you are correct, that it is not a representative sampling of American views. I was shocked that 90% thought euthanasia would be an acceptable route. But, I don’t know anything about Dr. Phil, so maybe his audience is comprised of similar creatures to those who appear on Springer.
I totally agree this is vile and deplorable. Shows the hold secularism has on our society.
But “creatures?”
They are absolutely, completely wrong, but they are NOT night beings who come out of caves at night and feed on little children, now. They are human beings, wrong, misguided, and sellfish, yes-----and in need of the truth and wisdom of Holy Mother Church-----but please let’s quit with dehumanizing comments. You are compunding vileness by dehumanization.
That’s all.
Thank you.
Each of us is a creature. God is our Creator.I totally agree this is vile and deplorable. Shows the hold secularism has on our society.

Then I apologize if I isunderstood you-----HOWEVER, the way you phrased the sentence certainly did suggest (to me and maybe others, at least) that you were using the term in a more negative way. I’m not used to hearing human beings describes as “creatures.” Maybe in a medieval manuscript------“For such a creature such as this…”Each of us is a creature. God is our Creator.
“Praise God from whom all blessings flow,
Praise Him all creatures here below”.
No problem, no need to apologize. To be honest, I suppose I was being a bit negative. I did edit my post to more thoroughly and clearly state my thoughts. I guess I should have said “displaying creature-like behavior,” but the timed-out editing feature got me again. Then I apologize if I isunderstood you-----HOWEVER, the way you phrased the sentence certainly did suggest (to me and maybe others, at least) that you were using the term in a more negative way. Maybe it is a question of clarifying what you said.
Which you did. Thank you then. God bless you, as always.
I doubt they are. Audiences for TV shows tend to be self selecting, it’s not a random group. People who like Phil like his message, which is mostly that you choose your life and if something isn’t working, you fix it. Dr. Oz’s audience is generally healthier and into natural cures.Oh, but secular societies are so much more humane and compassionate.
Do all these secularists ever actually listen to themselves, or, I don’t know, look at the world around them? This makes me want to pray for fire and brimstone. I’m seriously hoping Dr. Phil’s audience isn’t a valid sample of the population.
Quote. This is a spectacular point. Thanks for sharing it! (And thanks to sw85 for making it!)sw85 said it in another thread and I think it’s worth paraphrasing here: “We have turned from a culture of the “primacy of the intellect”, which discerns universal goods, to a culture of the “primacy of the will” which thinks to invent its own goods.” That is, we have turned from a culture where you sit down and think about things, about what is right and just, and turned into a culture simply that wills something to be right or wrong.
I might be just not wanting to believe, but I’m not sure that this was a heartfelt decision at all. Most of those types of shows hinge on a play to the emotions. It could very well be that after they go home and watch the show with some detatchment they might repent their decision. It’s easy enough to get hooked into the emotions of the moment, and think “Gee no parent wants to go through that”, and feel so bad for her it’s like “do whatever makes you happy”. I doubt that Phil made much mention of services available or help before polling the audience, I doubt that he asked her where the rest of her family was. It’s easy to play an angle that way – make the choice “kill these kids, or have the mother be miserable” when there are other options like home nursing or group homes. Emotions can cloud a person’s judgement to the point that they say stuff they don’t really think through.I totally agree this is vile and deplorable. Shows the hold secularism has on our society.

It is not her decision to make.My heart goes out to this woman who has watched her children slowly suffer…slowly succumb to this dreadful illness…an illness that shuts them up in bodies that will NEVER recover…NEVER feel the things we all take so easily for granted. I have compassion for this woman’s desire to end the suffering of her children…it must be one of the most heart breaking decisions a parent could make…she is a brave soul…I hold her in the Light.
You and she disagree…and perhaps the state disagrees with you as well. I will hold her in the Light…what a terrible situation to find one self…what a difficult and heart whrenching decision for her.It is not her decision to make.
Again, it is not her decision to make. They will live until they don’t. No decision needs to be made. You and she disagree…and perhaps the state disagrees with you as well. I will hold her in the Light…what a terrible situation to find one self…what a difficult and heart whrenching decision for her.
That is your opinion…the mother believes otherwise…and it appears she may have the state to back her decision…it must weigh heavy upon her mind…a heavy weight upon her soul to carry as well.Again, it is not her decision to make. They will live until they don’t. No decision needs to be made.
What matters is what The Father has taught all of us, Thou shalt not kill. That is your opinion…the mother believes otherwise…and it appears she may have the state to back her decision…it must weigh heavy upon her mind…a heavy weight upon her soul to carry as well.
I understand your position…but my heart goes out to this woman that she finds herself in such a difficult position…good or bad…right or wrong…it is a very very heavy burden to carry…her heart must be in turmoil…I pray she finds resolution and peace in this very very difficult situation. What matters is what The Father has taught all of us, Thou shalt not kill.
I hold adherence to this decision “in the Light”, whatever that means. What matters is what The Father has taught all of us, Thou shalt not kill.
Yes, it is a difficult situation, no doubt. But, there is no decision to make. She has no right to kill her children. Period.I understand your position…but my heart goes out to this woman that she finds herself in such a difficult position…good or bad…right or wrong…it is a very very heavy burden to carry…her heart must be in turmoil…I pray she finds resolution and peace in this very very difficult situation.
