Oye… Of all things to be concerned about and people are bent out of shape about short hair. Good grief.

But, on a side note, I agree with the other guys here. Short hair is unattractive and I wouldn’t want my wife to cut her hair short.

Man, you guys don’t think before you type… I have really short hair and I find it kind of offensive that you guys keep on saying how “unattractive” it is.

Some women can’t pull it off, I prefer long hair on women lol
👍

For married Orthodox Jewish women (and for religious Muslim women), the length and visibility of hair is quite a big deal: covering it and in what way, or shaving it and then wearing a wig, and so on. This is based on Torah commandment, and it doesn’t so much matter which style or length a woman–or a man–might prefer.

Many women can look very striking in short hair (of all ages).

Once women reach a certain age (60s perhaps), I feel that long hair is no longer very attractive because it is usually coarse by then. HOWEVER, my opinion does not matter because if SHE likes it, then that is all that matters.

Funny true story- when my boys were small - 3-5 years - we were grocery shopping and kept crossing paths with another woman who was in her late 60s early 70s I would guess. She had waist long white/gray hair - very wavy and thick and frizzy. Finally at the checkout one of my boys could contain himself no longer and wanted to know why the woman who looked like a witch kept following us! What was even more awkward was that we later saw her at church AND my boys remembered her from the grocery store and pointed out that the “witch lady” was there! Long lesson in tactful behavior was given!

Man I wasn’t expecting this post to go this direction. We all know that men usually don’t like short hair on women… we get it.
Not necessarily! I’m a guy and I find that the whole short hair = boyish logic doesn’t even add up half the time.

If it helps, I’ve seen a lot of female characters with short hair who are far from a tomboy.

I’ve also seen a lot of tomboyish girl characters (and even lesbians) with long hair.

Be it in art or in real life, the point is aesthetics are never as consistent as we want them to be. 😛

Well I am about as feminine as they come, but with very short hair.

Ditto!

Plus, a lot of women with short hair look mannish/butchy.
Really? Princess Diana had short hair, I can give the names of a number of ‘gorgeous’ women with short hair. However, thats all a matter of taste and preference based on various factors. Hair, looks, make up or no make up etc has no bearing on what a person is and is of no relevance in the bigger scheme of things.

I just have to see what you guys have to say about women with short hair. It seems every time an issue comes up about women it ends in an uproar. I know some Christian groups think that women should not cut their hair… curious on your thoughts.
I don’t really see why anyone’d wig out about this. (Get it? Wig, because – nevermind).

I think it’s clear from a personal preference standpoint that most guys (at least if this thread is a representative sample) prefer longer hair. Some women just have the right facial structure that they can totally rock short hair; I knew a girl in high school who kept her hair shorter than mine (I keep my hair right around two inches, with a sidepart); she kept hers in place with little clips and she looked just lovely.
Morena Baccarin will be beautiful no matter what she does with her hair, though! She’s just lucky that way.

Compare that image to when she had even slightly longer hair, though, and she goes from being beautiful to sublime.

I think there’s just something naturally lovely about long hair on women, something that our hindbrains associate with femininity in general the way women associate, errr, I dunno, broad shoulders or height with masculinity in men. There are obvious exceptions (at least to the long hair rule, probably much less so the broad shoulders and height rule), of course, but for the most part, we like women’s hair long and shimmering and silky and clean-smelling and so on. 🙂

In fairness, you asked for our opinion. 🤷

No I did not… I asked about morality not whether people think it is unattractive. I have been getting that for years…I have had short hair since I was seven and men always put me down for it. Plus it is enough to say that you prefer long hair. If I see a guy with long hair for instance, I wouldn’t say I like short hair on men, long hair is unattractive… I made clear earlier in the post I had short hair… so it is the same sort of situation. I think Debra and Catholic90 got the question, but noone else seemed to. The whole reason why I mentioned some Christian groups who think women should not cut their hair.

Hair is just hair. People, men and women, should be able to wear it how THEY like it. Period.

When my oldest son started to grow his hair long in 8th grade, people kept asking me when I was going to “make” him get it cut. I would always tell them it was up to my son. It was HIS hair, and if he liked it, then I was OK with it. My only stipulation was that he kept it washed and clean. He kept it pretty long until his senior year of high school, then cut it.

My middle son (18 years) has hair longer than I do (mid shoulder length). He is very particular about his hair. He has one stylist that he sees to get it thinned and trimmed every few months, and he has a complete hair regiment he goes through every day. He gets sooo many complements on his hair, ironically enough, mostly from older women! He has worn it long since he was about 13.

My hair must be long enough to pull into a pony tail or short enough that it does not get in my eyes. No in between!

As for color - again, if the wearer likes it, go for it! It is JUST HAIR!

JMHO. 😃
Color is a BIG problem because hair die is so toxic. Just google it. You’ll see.

That’s just mean. I have short hair, I have since I was a little kid, I just like it better that way.
NO ONE has ever said anything like that about me.

Even if some of us never, ever cut our hair, it will still be short. It is simply not possible for some women (usually older) to have medium to long hair without a wig. If they don’t cut it, it looks absolutely terrible, with a combo of random lengths throughout, none of them long, though, and many broken hairs, bald patches, etc. If they cut it to one length, at least they can style it to sort of spread out to cover the bare patches.

Lucky I totally agree. It would be like me saying that long hair on men just makes them look girly and feminine. It is just mean to tell someone that they look like the opposite gender.

Well when you tell a woman that anything on her is unattractive, it is going to hurt her feelings. No woman likes to hear that. Plus I am talking about the morality not the aesthetic of short hair.

Exactly. Opinion was requested and given. Now Op is calling foul. Sheesh!
If you read carefully I was not asking about what you guys thought about the aesthetic of short hair… I was asking about the morality.

Well, it’s only hair. I personally find long hair more attractive than short (short as in ‘boyish’) hair. But it’s the woman’s choice. As long as it represents God accordingly, fine by me.

As far as I know, there’s nothing morally wrong with long or short hair. As for aesthetics, it’s a woman’s/girl’s choice how she wants to wear her hair (though I guess it can be argued that in a young girl’s case, her parents have some say 😛 ). I don’t think it’s very accurate to say that all men prefer long hair; certainly, there are some men who prefer short hair. But I don’t see why what men prefer should guide my choices of hair length… If someone loved me while my hair was long, I assume they would continue to love me after a haircut (keeping all other things like personality, constant).
