Should "Cafeteria Catholics" just become Protestant?

No Rinnie. With Christ, by faith, in the end the gates can not prevail. Christ shall come again.

But Protestants claim that people didnt know this for 1,500 years. Millions of people holding on to a bogus salvation plan while god twiddled his thumbs and watched them descend into eternal hellfire.

As far as Cafeteria Catholics…I would say no…they shouldn’t just become Protestant…because we are all on a faith walk…and maybe they just haven’t worked through somethings. That is what we are there for…to help them. The Church isn’t a place for saints…its a hospital for sinners…😉

Annabelle Marie, if I were attending a Protestant church I’d personally probably tend to agree about the frequency of a Communion service and prefer it be more often. But on the other hand a Protestant friend of mine who believes symbolically and whose denomination serves Communuion quarterly along with washing of the feet, says at least for her there is a greater, special meaning than if they did so routinely every week.

Yep…and I’m receiving one of those Sacraments (Confirmation) at the Easter Vigil:thumbsup:

But Christ is a daily choice…we need to remember him daily…at least weekly…He died for our sins…how is He more special quarterly:shrug:

If I only had dinner with my husband every quarter…might be problematic…😃

While I’d be interested in knowing how many Protestants would claim people did not know Whom to believe in for eternal life, I’m certainly not going to sit here and judge what millions descended into hellfire. Not my place.

Exactly. It’s like talking to children about the need to eat vegatables. They will chose candy canes every time and complain about how their parents are mean and stupid.

Ultimately, they will either grow up and recognize the true faith for what it is (and always has been), or they will persist in their ignorance until their sad end leaves them empty.

But where did CHrist say that by faith IN THE END the gates cannot prevail. What about NOW?

No offense but the reason the Gates cannot prevail is not because of our faith. The reason the Gates cannot prevail is because the Holy Spirit is leading the Church.

When did Christ leave? did he not say I am with you always until the end of age? He is still here.

If it were up to OUR faith, the devil won. Unless someone here can admit they never gave into sin. The only one I know is the Blessed Mother and John the Baptism.

Our faith is not what leads the Church its the Power of the Holy Spirit that leads the CHurch and the Power of the Holy Spirit that will not fail.

Yes I’ve heard some do. That’s their faith and belief. Just as others have faith and belief that Christ ascended into heaven. Is with us in Spirit. Is seateth at the righthand of God. Will return @ His Second Coming. Or just as Catholics have their faith in their church. And believe as they do. Or we could go a step further and include people of faith outside Christianity. It all in the end does come down to faith, Rinnie. Again God bless you in yours.

Other than imperiling their immortal souls missing out on the Eucharist is the greatest shortcoming of being Protestant.

Where is the Catholic teaching different from the others that believe that CHrist ascended into heaven and is leading the Church by his Holy Spirit and will come again in glory Body and SOUL at the second comming?:confused:

I am observing that the contributors to this conversation are being quite charitable and you are not :confused:

Why?
 
Only a small sect of Protestants believe in no Hell. I believe they call themselves Universalists. Majority of Protestants ministers and Pastors don’t even claim them into the Protestant family.

I am not being uncharitablke at all. perhaps the problem is what i am saying is making you uncomfotrable?
