Should Catholics hate the eternal suffering of people in Hell?

Fear it, yes, hate it, no. God only uses it for the ‘hard cases’ who ‘deserve’ it. We have no cluexwho they might be, but the fear of it provides (at least me!) incentive not to push that limit.

For the sake of those who choose to go there, I hope that Hell really does end up being in Michigan! 🙂

What do you mean, exactly? Please break it down a little more.

If you mean ‘hate’ as in to prefer less, absolutely! Focus on where we intend to go, and that is heaven. If you mean to dislike the fact that souls are suffering, absolutely not! God’s justice is perfect, those in hell have chosen it, and if we differ with God’s judgment, the fault lies with us. When we are perfected, we will rejoice in all aspects of God’s perfection, particularly His justice.

Hell is hated in that its occupants have not and will never fulfill their vocation (the universal vocation to love), but it is loved for the fact that the damned will no longer be able to cause harm (except to themselves and other damned) as they once could. There are no persecutors in Heaven, like there would otherwise be.

For those in cahoots with the devil, hell is just.

If you want to experience hell, come down to Phoenix.

I think more Catholics should fear hell. I see too many who write it off as not being real.

No my friend, scientists have recently discovered that Hell is actually two miles southwest of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. And I understand Disney has optioned 800 acres outside the boundary and is developing a theme park called “Brimstoneland.” Wait until you see their version of Donald Duck and Goofy.😉

Should Catholics hate divine justice for the obstinately unrepentant in sin? No.

I drove through Truth and Consequences over 4th of July weekend on my way to Las Cruces. A lot closer to Heaven than to hell 🙂

Everyone should fear God.

At the end, on judgement day, it is someone else’s problem if they rejected their Lord and Saviour and wanted to end up in hell.

How many times does Jesus say in the Gospel, ’ truly it will be more bearable for sodom and gomorrah on the day of judgement then it will be for that town’.

So if peoples hearts are too hard, if thet dont want to know, even in their death throes…

It doesn’t matter whether we hate it or not, it’s there and we should concentrate on avoiding it and, where possible, warning others about it.

I am ok with Hell, which makes sense, but I hate human death with everything that is in me. However, I am aware that that is finally useless. Likewise the hate of Hell.

For people in hell…its not hell to them, imo it would be more ‘hellish’ for them to be in heaven, in the presence of God. If they lived their earthly live without God in it, hell would be the place best suited for them, a place without God.
