Should Catholics use homeopathy?
It depends what you mean by homeopathy. Homeopathy includes the use of naturally occurring medicines derived from plants. Aspirin is derived from willow bark and is used both in pain relief and thinning the blood to avoid clots. Bluebells are being investigated as a cancer remedy. St John’s Wort is available in pill form to reduce stress. Licorice is a natural remedy for constipation and heartburn. We use medication derived from poppies to relieve severe pain, morphine for example. All opiates begin with a plant. The list goes on.Should Catholics use homeopathy?
Actually, a good osteopath will recommend some of those folk remedies too, and help you avoid prescription drugs, while providing you with decent medical care.Just because something ‘natural’ is not part of mainstream medicine does not mean it has no validity. Mainstream medicine is founded on ‘homeopathy’ in terms of pharmaceuticals.
My mom was (and I guess still is) a dedicated homeopath. I studied up on it in college, and realized it’s mostly bogus. I used to love eating those sweet little pills when I was a tot, and my mom would always freak out because she thought I was going to OD. Turns out that those little pills are basically just sugar, so I was actually making the best use of themShould Catholics use homeopathy?
Not physically fine.if you use them simply because you want to get better, you’re fine.
I see no problem with using a natural extract of willow if you dont like asprin for some reasonHomeopathy includes the use of naturally occurring medicines derived from plants. That’s assuming that aspirin and willow bark extract are interchangeable, though. The two could have different mechanisms of action, and of course aspirin contains the necessary concentrations needed to actually affect biochemical pathways in the human body.I see no problem with using a natural extract of willow if you dont like asprin for some reason
