Actually I would say they were, considering his vice-president was a Christian. Not that I was a Saddam fan but I think the statement is true.

Sorry to disagree.

If Israel is willing to give some land up for Palestine for the sake of peace, we should embrace it, and be thankful to Israel.

I welcome your disagreement with me as I am an advocate of democracy and for your information, yes, I do embrace the peace process to create 2 States, one ethnic Jewish and one ethnic Arab.

I am sure you are aware that Israel was willing to hand over some land, ie. Gaza Strip, West Bank and East Jerusalem to the Arabs to create a new State called “Palestine”. That’s why Israel signed the 1993 Oslo Accords with the late Yassir Arafat’s PLO. However, the late Palestine President Yassir Arafat rejected the generous offer by former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak. This was despite American President Bill Clinton’s plea to the late Palestine President Yassir Arafat to accept this generous offer without demanding the “right to return” of millions of Arab Muslim refugees to Israel proper.

Its ridiculous and illogical for the Palestine Authority** to demand turning Israel into an Arab-Islamic State, which will no doubt persecute not only Christians but also Bahais, Homosexuals and Atheists who dominate Israel! Besides, Israel has been very generous by fulfiling its obligation under the 1993 Oslo Accords giving Palestinians vast autonomy in Gaza Strip, West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Quite recently, I read the news that then Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and his successor Ehud Olmert agreed to “unilaterally” withdraw Israeli army from Gaza Strip. The Israeli army completely withdrew from Gaza, which is now free from Israeli occupation yet Arab Muslims have proven themselves not only incapable to govern as rival factions fight themselves for very silly reasons but what is more is that the Hamas keeps attacking Israelis (both military and civilian) rather than concentrate on Palestinian nation-building in Gaza Strip.

So, we know Muslims will never be satisfied even if Israel were to return to its pre-1967 borders, which they partially did by completely withdrawing from the Gaza Strip, which is 100% independent of Israeli occupation.

**Palestine Authority itself was created due to Israeli generousity under the 1993 Oslo Accords. This is proof Israel wishes to make peace with the Arabs.

The desire of the Muslims living in this region to have an independant state is not a fiction, nor is it unreasonable. If this is your arguement than Israel need to pack up and leave as well, it’s also a modern creation populated by a group of Jews with little or no ethnic ties to the ancient state of Israel.

This is as stupid as saying that because the US and the UK refused to take Germany’s Jews they are to blame for the holocaust.

Israel is a racist state because it enforces an aparthied based on race. Very very few Jews in Israel are religious, in fact Israel as the largest percentage of people that self identify as atheists in the world. While the Muslims most certainly continue (as Muslims have always done everywhere they’ve ruled) to oppress religious minorities it is a religious issue and not a racial one.

Zionism is nothing but Nazism for Jews, there certainly can be no lasting peace with that sort of state in any region.

That is a matter of personal opinion. Yes Christians do seem to be getting the worst of it because they refuse to take up arms and fight, a sad inditement

But it is also true to argue that Arab citizens in Israel have more rights than Arabs in any Arab State.

Israel was raised out of arid desert. A great tribute to the Jews. The rest of Palestine could have had likewise but their supporters filtered off billions of UN dollars into Swiss bank accounts.

The Arabs occupy 99.95% of the Middle East, the Jews less than 0.5%. Is it not a fact the Arabs resent the Jews possessing as much as less than half a percent?

It is a tragedy but there are two sides to the coin.

Absolutely not - Israel is still God’s chosen nation. The Arab states conspire to keep the Levantine Arabs in this terrible state, and they must take some responsibility - instead it is used as an excuse for the agenda of destroying Israel (not that they can succeed).

Whose “they”? If you refer to Hebrew-speaking Christians, then what you think is clearly wrong since Israel has a growing Hebrew-speaking Christian community who are proud of their Jewish heritage!

With regards to the new Israel, yes it is Christian because when Israel was established in 1948 C.E., it was established as a Hebrew-speaking State that upholds secularism, democracy and freedom. Due to religious freedom that exists in the Zionist State, Christianity is rapidly growing, yes, there are many Hebrew-speaking Catholic parishes along with many Evangelical Protestant denominations such as the infamous Jews for Jesus.

Zionism is not anti Christian nor anti Catholic as it is yet another political ideology like Liberalism, Socialism and Arabism. The CCC allows Christians to hold diverse political views. The ideology of Zionism is very similar to Arabism. The former is Hebrew-speaking nationalism, while the latter is Arabic-speaking nationalism.

The best way to solve the Israel-Palestinian crisis is to compare it to the Russian-Chechen crisis. Both wars have been going on for at least 16 years and is due to Islam’s Jihadist ideology.

StMarkEofE, though you are an Orthodox Christian and I am a Catholic Christian, we must understand that Israelis are like Russians, while Palestinians are like Chechens. The former are legitimate nations, while the latter are seperatist terrorists who are considered criminal by civilised society. If you choose to support the Palestinians but not the Chechens, its sheer hypocrisy and also shows you have hidden agenda which may be Anti Semitism (ie. hatred towards Jews).

Christians should “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s” because that is what the Lord told us to do. We should not support seperatism! The CCC tells us to obey lawful authority, and so Chechen Christians and Palestinian Christians should obey Israeli Defense Forces.

I hope you do not misunderstand me. I do not hate Palestinians as I know there are many Palestinian Christians. However, what I pray for is Palestinians as a whole, regardless Muslims or non Muslims to embrace secularism, freedom, and democracy. This will allow real Christian dialogue with Muslims. For this, the Palestine Authority must be willing to tolerate diversity in political views, which means allowing more choices than Hamas and Fatah. Currently most Palestinians are seperatists who seek an independent Arab State, while there is a minority who prefer Palestine to be an autonomous state within Israel. It is this minority who I believe is peaceful.

Let us all reject seperatism as it is anti Christian and anti God. All seperatist movements (regardless Palestinians, Chechens, or Sri Lankan Tamils) are totalitarian, anti freedom, and anti secularism.
