Most certainly it counts as experience. Perhaps small, and certainly not sufficient, but it counts. That is actually the reason why the Church for so long did not allow female altar servers and the only reason the Church allowed kids to perform the function. I would say this, if one was an altar server and did not like doing it, that would be a strong indication that the priesthood was not for them (in my humble opinion).

Let me also say that the fact that you always enjoy leading the class prayer is also indicative. Again, not sufficient, but it is not meaningless with regards to a priestly vocation either. Now, things such as finding crosses in the middle of the street? That doesn’t count for much, don’t be looking for supernatural signs or interpreting events as supernatural signs, at least not unless you are under the direction of a good spiritual director.

Thanks for the advice, though dating again? I think I don’t want, I’m happier single than when I dated, sorry but it’s true

You’ve been on three dates. You’ve always been single. You don’t actually know if you’re happier single.

If you don’t want to date, then don’t date. There’s no reason to force yourself into a relationship you don’t want. It’s not fair to the person you’d be dating.

You don’t need to date to give good relationship advice. Many therapists have never been addicted to drugs but they can still help drug addicts. You can read marriage books and I’m sure your priestly education would have some education in this regard.

Funnily enough, they don’t advise them on how to be good drug addicts. Not really the same thing here.

And dating doesn’t mean “forc[ing] yourself into a relationship you don’t want.” It means going on dates. If a relationship happens, a relationship happens. If not, it doesn’t.

By date you mean being with someone for like a year in a relationship? Or just once? I think I misunderstood

Funnily enough, you’re still providing counseling on something you haven’t experienced, so yes, it is the same thing here.

What’s the point of dating if you’re not wanting to be in a relationship? You’re pressuring him into something he doesn’t want to do.

By “date,” I mean going on dates. Maybe you end up in a long relationship, or maybe you end up going out with several women whom you really like but just never feel drawn to a long-term relationship. That would tell you something either way.

I see, what I was trying to explain was that I have been in 3 relationships though not just dates

I apologize for the misunderstanding, my mind was in another place so I messed up everything

The guy has been on dates. He says they’re not his thing.
Why are you so insistent he do something he doesn’t want to do?
Also, if he’s had relatives with good relationships and marriages, he knows enough to provide basic advice to his flock.
Edited to add I see he has had three relationships, so the point is moot, but making a guy date when he doesn’t want to is a bit much.

You sound like you’ve got a very charitable heart and are self-aware (ie, admitting to struggling with dreaming about being higher up in the hierarchy of the church 🙂 ). Those are two very valuable qualities in any person, and specifically in a priest. At least if you talk to a vocations director and are forthcoming, you’ll be on more solid ground as you pursue the next step of your life journey.

Also, I’m learning to become more ok with “not-knowing” for a while, whatever the decision is. Give God time to respond, and give yourself the chance to trust His timing. If He’s giving you some quiet time till He responds, thank Him for it and enjoy it (I’m talking to myself here as well…now I’m accountable to follow my own advice!)

Thank you for your compliments and advice, let’s see if I join the FSSP then😎
